Cole Roberts is a Schulich Leader scholar entering the third year of his electrical engineering degree at the University of Calgary and is also pursuing a minor in energy and environmental engineering. Cole is passionate about working towards a net-zero future and is excited about exploring the intersection of technology and sustainability as the world shifts away from traditional energy sources. As a student, he has continually sought opportunities to implement sustainable practices in his projects, including designing a modular houseplant care device that features easily replaceable components. It's Cole v Cole in this special, intimate, episode of River City Sounds. Once again, we setup at our home location and mic up the person behind Rosewood Recordings, Cole Roberts' new project, overunder dog. With only two people on the mics, we were able to go a little bit more off script; we talk about continuing as solo projects, recording every kind of band we can find, starting musical rumors, and what the hell is mastering and what exactly does it do anyway? --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/Rivercity_Sounds/support
Renewables are the fastest-growing sector in the energy market, with solar and wind expected to make up 70% of utility-scale electricity generation capacity domestic additions in 2021. Critical to the current and future expansion of the renewables market is storage, because solar and wind are intermittent but energy demand is constant. Storage technologies have developed at a rapid pace in recent years, but what about going forward. What can we expect in the energy sector in 2035? Arup offers an answer to that question in its report—Future of Energy 2035: What will a future U.S. energy storage look like? Joining us on the program are two authors of the report. Cole Roberts is Arup's Energy Business Leader for the Americas region, and Geoff Gunn is the Energy Systems Lead. Click here to download the report. In the podcast, Roberts highlighted two Arup projects: Charge4AllTM, which is geospatial site suitability software for streamlining the deployment of public charging points for electric vehicles. SolarResilient, which provides recommendations for solar PV plus battery storage systems to simultaneously answer the need for energy resilience during a grid disruption while also decarbonizing the community by providing renewable energy storage and generation.

We made it to 50! Which is not really any more important than 49, or 51, but here we are. It’s been a blast and we’ve been incredibly lucky with the quality of guests over the past year and a half who have had many different stories to tell. All genres and all different routes into photography. Some of who set out to be a photographer, or artist, and others who just seem to have happed up on it. Photography finds them. No matter the route, or start point, it’s a reminder that photography is a multi faceted and far reaching medium. There are no definitive answers, no clear paths to success and no short cuts. It promises everything and in most cases delivers nothing other than the satisfaction of making a nice picture. But it can also change lives, perspectives, even laws, and can show us worlds that we could never dream of. It can connects us to each other and instil empathy. It can be the best therapy and the greatest frustration. No matter what, it’s here, ever changing and it’s not going away. Photography can’t be everything to everyone, but it can be whatever we want it to be, as long as we are only ever ourselves. Look at me getting all contemplative, it’s like I care about the milestone of 50 episodes………..© Nordica PhotographySo.
