Mike Danton was playing in the Stanley Cup playoffs for the St. Louis Blues. And at the same time, he was trying to hire a hitman to kill his agent, David Frost.Danton's arrest and conviction would become one of the biggest hockey scandals of all time. But this is not just some salacious true crime story. It's an extreme example of everything that's wrong with hockey culture; hazing and abuse, sexual misconduct and the adult men who control the lives of teenage boys for their own monetary gain.Featured in this episode: Steve Simmons (The Toronto Sun)To learn more:The Lost Dream: The Story of Mike Danton, David Frost, and a Broken Canadian Family by Steve Simmons“A teenage girl's vulnerability laid bare at David Frost trial” by Christie Blatchford in The Globe and Mail“The sometimes sad and remarkable journey of Sheldon Keefe” by Steve Simmons in The Toronto Sun“How police cracked 'the cult'” by Greg McArthur in The Globe and Mail“I'm glad I went to prison” by L. Oh what a kick off to season 2 of Where's That Bar Cart? It's the unofficial MVP of season 1, our good friend who we shared rather mediocre pizzas with, and who hooked us up with so many guests for season 1 of the pod. He has perhaps the most topsy-turvy relationship with golf of any guest, but it was rather fitting to have him kick off season 2, it's Gare Joyce! Always eloquent, Gare not only described in detail his first scramble in years with fellow Kingston residents, but also graciously invited us to take over his whole house on our next visit. This was the best way to kick off season 2 and we are so, so thankful to Gare for everything he's done. This was a fun one.Follow us at:- @wheresthatbarcart- linkt.ree/wheresthatbarcart- @dpurcomic- @montymofoscott- @nickdurie- @ginalouisephillips- @comedyrecordsMusic by Devin BatesonThank you to Betstamp and Comedy Records

Gare Joyce joins Jimmer Lowe for an Episode of Q'd Up.Gare Joyce would claim the title of eminence grise of the open-mic scene if he had more grey hair. He won an amateur contest in college back in ’83 and got to open for Yuk Yuk’s comics at a crappy bar where he worked the door. He’s been doing stand-up since 2015, mostly in Toronto, though he’ll drop a set in clubs in U.S. cities when he’s travelling for work—a sportswriter, he has been on the staff of the Globe and Mail, ESPN and, for the last nine years, Sportsnet. His words have also appeared on the pages of the New York Times and, way back, Canadian Hairdresser. He has published 11 books of non-fiction, along with a few short stories and novels, including The Code, which was adapted for the TV series Private Eyes starring Jason Priestley. You’d just never know to look at him.
