It is nothing short of remarkable to see Jordan Staal, Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang still playing at a high level. Staal became the oldest player in NHL history to win the Conn Smythe. Carolina won the Stanley Cup. Carolina won with a journeyman goaltender and don't have a generational star player but are a great team. Paul Skenes is not a big part of the Pirates problems, but he's not helping. Poni doesn't think Don Kelly showed enough fire last night after the Pirates were blown out at PNC Park, which included a disastrous 7th inning. The Dodgers scored TEN times to blow the game wide open and would win it, 12-3. For 6 innings, it was competitive, in front of a big Tuesday crowd in Pittsburgh. Is Kelly just another version of Derek Shelton or is there something hidden in there? Marcell Ozuna failed another challenge last night and he was thrown out on a play that nearly every other player in baseball history would have run out for a base hit. A hockey fan in Nova Scotia gave Tyler Kennedy all of his hockey cards. TK once traded hockey sticks with Evgeni Malkin! TK will give Austin a signed Sidney Crosby jersey if he grows out his mustache until Christmas. Who will play the longest and who retires first: Crosby, Malkin, Letang, or Alexander Ovechkin?
Stanley Cup Champion Tyler Kennedy joined the show. TK has gout. TK thinks it's a great thing that Evgeni Malkin is back. Malkin is still very productive and is a good mentor. Malkin was still a point per game guy. If Malkin plays a full season, could he have 75 points?? TK thinks Sidney Crosby may have had a say, but the decision to bring back Malkin had to be up to Kyle Dubas.
TSN's Mike Johnson on Matthew Tkachuk's impact on Team USA, Dylan Cozens playing with Sidney Crosby, and the Hurricanes blanket the Canadiens in Game 4.

It Happened To Me: A Rare Disease and Medical Challenges Podcast
In this episode of It Happened To Me, we explore clinical neurology, how the brain and nervous system function, what happens when things go wrong, and how recovery and adaptation are possible even after injury or chronic neurological challenges. Our guest is Dr. David Traster, a clinical neurologist and educator who has spent nearly two decades working with patients experiencing complex neurological conditions. His background as an athlete and personal trainer, combined with his own experiences navigating injury and chronic health issues, shaped his interest in helping people improve function through neurological recovery. Dr. Traster has advanced training in concussion, dizziness and vertigo, movement disorders, autonomic nervous system conditions, and childhood developmental disorders. His work focuses on helping patients improve function through neurorehabilitation and targeted exercises, without relying solely on drugs or surgery. In Part 1 of this conversation, Dr. Traster explains what clinical neurology really means and how it differs from the traditional view of neurology as diagnosis, medication, or surgery alone. He shares his own experience as a high-level basketball player whose life changed after a surgery led to years of unexplained symptoms, eventually resulting in a Lyme disease diagnosis. That personal journey shaped how he listens to patients whose symptoms do not fit neatly into a diagnosis. The conversation also explores how the brain responds to injury, including concussion and traumatic brain injury. Dr. Traster explains why recovery often requires more than rest and time, and how targeted exercises involving vision, balance, eye movement, vestibular rehabilitation, and cognitive therapy can help retrain specific brain pathways. Cathy and Dr. Traster also discuss how this approach may apply to patients living with rare or genetic conditions. While neurorehabilitation may not cure an underlying condition, Dr. Traster explains that improving function, balance, movement, and quality of life can still be meaningful and powerful for patients. Dr. Traster also provides a clear explanation of neuroplasticity, the brain's ability to change, strengthen, and reorganize through repeated activity. Dr. Traster breaks down why “brain cells that fire together wire together,” and how learning, movement, repetition, and targeted practice can support healing and adaptation. In This Episode, We Discuss: What clinical neurology is and how it differs from traditional neurology Why the brain may need functional and physics-based approaches, not only chemical interventions Dr. Traster's personal experience with chronic illness, delayed diagnosis, and Lyme disease How being dismissed medically shaped his empathy for patients Why neurological symptoms like dizziness, brain fog, and balance issues can be misunderstood How concussion recovery can involve targeted brain rehabilitation The role of vision, balance, vestibular rehab, eye movement therapy, and cognitive exercises How neurorehabilitation may support patients with genetic or rare conditions Why function and quality of life matter, even when a condition cannot be cured What neuroplasticity means in simple terms How learning, repetition, and practice help strengthen brain connections About Dr. David Traster Dr. David Traster is a clinical neurologist and educator with nearly two decades of experience working with patients experiencing complex neurological conditions. Another gem from Paul Skenes as the Pirates beat the Rockies, 3-1 at PNC Park. Skenes tossed 8 scoreless innings for the second consecutive start and carried a no-hitter into the 7th inning. A footnote from the game is the lack of people in the crowd. There were only around 13k tickets sold and fewer than that in the building. It spurred comments about Pittsburgh being a ‘mediocre' baseball town from a retired Pittsburgh sports writer. Is he right? Is it a blackeye on the fans to not have a bigger number at the ballpark? The guys defended Pittsburghers on this one. The Pirates drew 31,000+ fans per game in 2015. Is Pittsburgh a good or lousy baseball town? Former Penguin Tyler Kennedy joined the show. A wild Open Phone Friday
The Philadelphia Flyers closed out the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 6 OT, capping a surprisingly solid “bridge year” for Pittsburgh’s aging core, with Evgeni Malkin expressing interest in returning at 40 and Sidney Crosby and Kris Letang also expected back. Philly, meanwhile, nearly let a 3–0 series slip but got a great performance from goalie Dan Vladar leading to Cam York’s eventual winner, though a tough matchup with the Carolina Hurricanes awaits. The Montreal Canadiens moved within one win of eliminating the Tampa Bay Lightning thanks to Alex Texier’s Game 5 winner and stellar goaltending from Jakub Dobes, while Brendan Gallagher made an immediate impact in his playoff debut, setting up a raucous Game 6 at the Bell Centre. Out West, Brett Howden scored a shorthanded double-OT winner to give the Vegas Golden Knights a 3–2 edge over Utah in a series where goaltending has been uncertain at best, and at times, chaotic. The Edmonton Oilers face elimination on the road against the Anaheim Ducks in Game 6, needing early pressure on Dostal, but also the consistency they’ve lacked all season. The Minnesota Wild have an opportunity at home to eliminate the Dallas Stars behind Jesper Wallstedt and their heavy-minute defenders, who are proving to be a difficult matchup.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
