Yes, this episode is about Shin Ultraman (dir. Shinji Higuchi), but (thanks to this week's guest Beth Westbo) the podcast also touches on, of all things, Doctor Who, American pop culture . . . and it wouldn't be an episode of Monster Kid Radio if Derek didn't mention Manos: The Hands of Fate (dir. Harold P. Warren) at least once. MKR listeners got into the act as well with their called-in thoughts on Shin Ultraman.
Join Vlad the Rad and Michelle of the Dead, as we proudly bring to you our guest this week, Jackey Neyman Jones. Jackey played "Debbie" in "Manos: The Hands of Fate". Manos: The hands of Fate is a 1966 American no-budget horror film written, directed, and produced by Harold P. Warren, who also starred in the film. The film's plot revolves primarily around a vacationing family who lose their way on a road trip. After a long drive in the Texas desert, the family find themselves trapped at a lodge maintained by a polygynous pagan cult led by a man known only as The Master, and they attempt to escape as the cult members decide what to do with them. So make sure to tune in and ask all the Manos questions your little heart desires.
We had to do it, tackle the “Classic” film, Manos: The Hands of Fate! Written, directed, and starring El Paso's own, Harold P. Warren! This film was so bad that both TV's Frank and Dr. Clayton Forrester thought it necessary to apologize! I'll tell you a little Manos history while Nancy will talk about the MST3K take and we even hear from Russell! Join us, won't you?
To celebrate 200 episodes of podcasting, the guys talk about Manos: The Hands of Fate, one of the all-time worst and most incomprehensible movies ever made. Despite that, how is this film linked with an Academy Award-winning screenwriter? Is Neil Breen a more competent filmmaker than Harold Warren? How about that incredibly bizarre "jazzy" soundtrack? And if you took out the pauses and awkward stares, would the movie be ten minutes long? Check our social media on Sunday for the Sunday Screencrap and take a guess at our next movie! What is it about Manos: The Hands of Fate (dir. Harold P. Warren) that continues to fascinate and inspire us monster kids? Is it because so many people call it "the worst film of all time"? (It's not.) Is it because somewhere inside that film is actually a really creepy story? (Maybe.) Is it because Torgo should have gone down as one of the best monsters EVER in all of monster movie-dom? (Probably not.) In this episode of Monster Kid Radio, authors Stephen D. Sullivan (, ) and Anthony Wendel (, the upcoming ) join Derek to take on Valley Lodge. Plus, Professor Frenzy's Bedtime Story and Kenny's Look at Famous Monsters of Filmland.
