Fighting for Your Life “Greatest Fight of All Time” Luke 4:1-2a The Reality of Temptation Temptations were real for Jesus, so he knows how it feels and is able to help. Temptation is not sin; giving in is. Temptation is a fight for your life You're not fighting to get or keep eternal life You're fighting the attack on abundant life The Purpose of Temptation Satan's purpose: He tempts us to defeat us, discourage us, destroy our walk with God God's purpose: He tests us to prepare us, deepen us, strengthen our walk with Him Every temptation is a test of our trust in God. Every temptation is an opportunity to grow stronger in God. The Setting of Temptation Wilderness times: Often when we are depleted or isolated Exciting times: coming off an exhilarating The Effects of Temptation In every temptation you strengthen or weaken: Your intimacy with God Your trust in God Your ability to fight The Defeat of Temptation The Word of God The Spirit of God
God KNOWS everything THERE is to KNOW about YOU, including YOUR past, present and FUTURE. He doesn't miss a THING. He KNOWS your name: '...."Fear not, for l have redeemed you; l have called you by your name; you are Mine" ' (Isaiah 43:1 NKJV). He also KNOWS your ADDRESS: 'l know...where you dwell...' (Revelation 2:13 NKJV). And here's the MOST AMAZING part. With full KNOWLEDGE of YOU, He LOVES you! He DOESN'T say, 'l love YOU, if.' There are NO 'ifs' in God's HEART. His LOVE for you EXISTED before YOU were BORN and it will EXIST after you are GONE. 'How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is WHAT we ARE!' Does that MEAN God doesn't CARE what we SAY or DO? No, to LOVE without CONDITION doesn't MEAN to love WITHOUT concern. Sometimes we CONFUSE unconditional LOVE with unconditional APPROVAL. God doesn't APPROVE of betrayal, selfishness, pride, dishonesty, lust, resentment or any other form of sin. These are the OPPOSITE of the LOVE God wants to INSTIL in our HEARTS. God's UNCONDITIONAL love just MEANS He continues to LOVE us even WHEN we blow it; that He WAITS for US like the father WAITED for the RETURN of his PRODIGAL son. lt's important that we HOLD to the TRUTH that God NEVER stops LOVING us even WHEN He's GRIEVED by WHAT we do. 'Why is that so IMPORTANT?' you ask. Because God's LOVE is the MAGNET that will DRAW us back to Him EVERY time. God's servant Rev Alfred Acheampong. Prayer Point: God of Goodness, l come into your Presence so aware of my human frailty and yet overwhelmed by your love for me. l thank you that there is no human experience that l might walk through where your love cannot reach me. You have equip me to face each day with the power of your love, your forgiveness, and your grace in Jesus name. Anchor Scripture: 'HOW GREAT IS THE LOVE THE FATHER HAS LAVISHED ON US...' (1John 3:1 NIV). Stay Blessed! YearOfSupernaturalProvision
Did you know that God wants us to encounter Him? Every time someone encountered Him in the Gospels their encounter was a life changing one. God loves us and He does not change. People encountered Him before, and they still do today.
THE SUPREMACY OF CHRIST 2 COL. 1:18 Introduction: Jesus Christ Image of the invisible God Firstborn over al creation By Him all things were created In Heaven and on earth Visible, invisible, thrones, powers, rulers and authorities You name it, He created it He is before all things, and remains eternal In Him all things hold together Verse 18 introduces us to three more titles 1.He is the head of the body, the church After dealing with the cosmic significance of the Son in his eternal being Brings us now to Christ and the church Note the church is not described as a body of Christians He is the head of the church, without Him the church is dead This link between Christ and the church exists by the in dwelling of the Holy Spirit On His resurrection day Jesus became the head of the church On that day He breathed the Holy Spirit on them and said receive the Holy Spirit This was for regeneration, it is a verb indicating that Jesus was giving the Spirit in order to bring forth life and a new creation But church is the body of Christ: critical truth That is why whoever persecutes the church on earth is persecuting Christ in heaven When Saul was still breathing murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples, Jesus showed up and spoke to him He did not say why are you persecuting my children, followers, my disciples He said Why are you persecuting me Whoever touches you, touches Jesus in heaven Therefore learn to keep your focus, leave your battles to the Lord Fulfill your purpose, accomplish your mandate Don’t focus on things that will cause you to disengage Don’t focus on things that delay you Don’t be scared, don’t give up, don’t give in, keep the pace The Lord is coming soon, time is running out, run, run faster The church operates by His power The church functions as his representatives: represent Him well As the head of the body, the body is totally dependent on Him As the Head He is the command center for every member in the body, and for the body as a unit He is the command center for every activity in the body 2.He is the beginning Rev. 22:13 Read He is the Alpha and the Omega The beginning and the end There is no beginning without Him Every beginning stems from Him There is no end without Him He remains Jesus even at the end of everything 3.He is the firstborn from among the dead This is about His rank He died and He rose again But Lazarus rose from the dead So did Dorcas and Eutychus They were resuscitated but He was resurrected The difference between resuscitation and resurrection With resuscitation the person keeps the same body and therefore will die at some point With resurrection, there is a new and different body According to 1 Cor. 15 The perishable body is raised imperishable The body sown in dishonor is raised in glory A body sown a natural body is raised a spiritual body When Jesu comes, some will be transformed and some will be resurrected, but for the church, we shall all be like Him Why: Rev 1:17-18. He is alive for ever and ever What does it mean for the church, His body God placed all things under His feet and appointed Him head over everything for the church Which is the body, the fullness of Him who fills everything in every way The fullness of Christ resides in His body The church, by virtue of it being the body of Christ, may partake of all that Jesus Christ is and possesses This for the purpose of continuing His mission and ministry in the world The Holy Spirit helps us to reproduce the life, ministry and mission of Jesus Christ We function as the representatives of Jesus Christ And now God has kept you and I alive on earth and alive in Christ Re commit yourself to this cause Re dedicate yourself to his plan, his mission and his mandate Lord lif
(Wis.11:22-12:2; Ps.145:1-2,8-11,13-14; 2Thes.1:11-2:2; Lk.19:1-10) “The Son of Man has come to seek and save what was lost.” How beautifully the readings speak today of our “Lord and lover of souls” whose “imperishable spirit is in all things” and who is “good to all and compassionate to all His works.” It is indeed “in accord with the grace of our God and Lord Jesus Christ” that we be glorified in Him and He in us, and so we praise Him: “Every day I will bless you, and I will praise your name forever and ever.” The Lord “love[s] all things that are”; all is made by Him, so how could He but love all. Though to Him “the whole universe is as… a drop of morning dew come down upon the earth,” He loves it all with a most personal affection, shown in the grace-filled coming of His Son among us. And why has this Son come but to forgive? Why has He walked the earth but to call men back to their place in the loving heart of the Father? Why has He come but to show the Father's loving mercy? And appropriate is Paul's warning “not to be shaken out of your minds suddenly” in fear of the Lord's imminent return in judgment. Here is remedy against all the false prophets predicting the sudden end of this universe God has created, as if they could move His hand, as if they could know His mind. Whence does this come but the same grumbling of the people when Jesus moved to go in to sup with Zacchaeus, the famous sinner? Whence does this come but a failure to understand the Lord's wisdom and love and manner of working in the world, failing to see that what the Lord does is “rebuke sinners little by little, warn[ing] them and remind[ing] them of the sins they are committing, that they may abandon their wickedness and believe in [Him]”? It is evident that the majority in the crowd would have preferred, in fact, rejoiced in seeing, Zacchaeus' utter destruction. They expected the Lord's punishment on this sinner, and desired it to come immediately. Why? Again, they knew not God's love or the Lord's purpose. Why? Even more to the point: they were sinners themselves who failed to recognize their sin and realize their own need for mercy – and so had neither the Lord's patience, nor His love. How well that loving forgiveness is illustrated in our gospel; how like the parable of the Prodigal Son. As the son returns to the father, Zacchaeus goes ahead and climbs the tree. As the father sees the son from far off and goes to him, so Jesus spies Zacchaeus in the tree and calls to him. As the father's generous love sparks the son's complete repentance, so Jesus' acceptance of Zacchaeus brings salvation to his house, shown in his generous penance. I pray we all seek the Lord who seeks for us and act as Zacchaeus, who “came down quickly and received Him with joy,” as the Lord freely offers His love and forgiveness to our souls. Praise Him for His kindness! Written, read & chanted, and produced by James Kurt. Music: "Save the Children" (first half) from Cleansing Human Frailty, fourth album of Songs for Children of Light, by James Kurt. ******* O LORD, our stature before you has been diminished by sin, but your Son comes to raise us to Heaven. YHWH, how compassionate you are toward all your creatures, desiring the repentance of all in whom your imperishable Spirit dwells that they might not die but turn to you and live. And so you have sent your Son to seek and save the lost. And so we should praise you for your greatness. You have indeed made all things, and man in your image and likeness. And so you cannot but look upon us with pity as we distort your blessed image by sin; and so, little by little you rebuke us, LORD, reminding us of our sin that we might abandon our wickedness and believe in you. You are our God and King, faithful and holy in all your works, but we are weak and prone to stray from your grace. So in your kindness you bow down to lift us up, we who are falling, that we might look upon your face, that in glory we might dwell with your only Son… that your salvation might come even to the house of the worst sinner.

Episode 138 The spiritual war in our time Paul says that our warfare is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual powers of wickedness in heavenly places. But we are also told that Christ won the victory against the enemy at Calvary. If this is so then why is there still a war? To understand clearly what God did in Christ Jesus at Calvary is critical to being able to view the conflict that we face properly and live in the power of His endless life. We are called to live as overcomers, and the resources to do that are as we abide in Christ’s victory. If we try to live out of our resources, we will be defeated. We are no match for the devil on our own. But as we abide in Christ, we are more than overcomers. Is that our experience today? It should be, and if not it can be. The conflict is in spiritual realms The victory was won at Calvary Christ is seated at the right hand of God (authority) By faith we are seated with him The enemy occupies territory that is not his God uses the warfare to strengthen our relationship with Him Every spiritual provision has been provided for us to overcome all things Physical death is not a defeat but only graduation if we die in faith Additional resources at http://www.ntchurchsource.com/ Theme song “Will Your Anchor Hold” sung by J.
