The art of mindful living – being fully present in our minds, hearts and consciousness at any moment – just may be more vital, and more challenging, in a time of rapid and unprecedented change. Yet, how do we build and protect a safe inner space for the new and creative to appear in the face of daily avalanche of digital, family, and cultural impressions all clamoring for our immediate attention. This conversation will explore the practices, behaviors, and perceptions that can support an endeavor to lead a life of intention and purpose, well-being and regeneration in a time of global and universal change. Join Aviv Shahar and his panel of esteemed guests as they explore The Art of Cognizant and Mindful Living. KEY TAKEAWAYS 02:11 – Aviv Shahar welcomes an esteemed panel of guests to reflect on today's conversation, The Art of Cognizant and Mindful Living05:18 – Boaz Bar Ilan and Jeremy Stuart share core practices they implement in their daily lives10:06 – Lisa Marcus speaks to the power of checking in with one's self and truly listening to ourselves12:43 – Perry Martin provides an example of how technology has led to him looking inward15:28 – Karen Heney and Kyriaki Nikandrou speak to the constant of change23:17 – Marianne Ashcroft shares one of her best practices for being mindful and grateful24:55 – Building ceremonies and rituals in our everyday lives29:58 – Why we should stop asking young people what they want to be31:20 – The panel continues to propose practices that have impacted their lives, including grounding yourself in your strength38:17 – Avshalom and Miriam speak to curiosity and the concept of conscious evolution46:48 – The inherent pain of human life and the power of human will52:06 – Peter provides final thoughts on The Art of Cognizant and Mindful Living54:19 – Aviv summarizes the three themes of today's exploration TWEETABLE QUOTES “And so, I've found that by repetitively taking myself back to that space, I think things will appear. It's like being a gardener of one's self, because you can go into a place in nature or you can go into a garden and clear the weeds or the grass and you know that you're gonna come back a few weeks later and something is going to be there.” (08:05) (Jeremy)“I want to look at an example of some technology that's transformed our lives and how it can be taken in several different ways. Cell phone service, your instant ability to gain knowledge and to find things, to be in connectivity with people all around the world all the time. But I've found that there's a great drawback in that. And I've found myself having to look inside myself and see what it is that Perry does not want to let go of that's good like a certain kind of manners, patience, taking the time to listen to somebody.” (12:47) (Perry)“I think change is absolutely integral to everything, human life and how things work. So, that leads to the question, ‘Shouldn't we find out how things work?'” (15:37) (Karen)“One of the ways in which I like to be mindful on a daily basis - and I make the space to do this - is to just take stock and be thankful and have some gratitude for everything that I am and can do.” (23:33) (Marianne)“When we ground ourselves in our strength - in what we do well or in what we care about very much - when we engage with those elements in our lives, we join the regenerative ray, the part of the universe that is regenerative. And when we are regenerative in ourselves, we're able to bring more of it to our environment.” (37:52) (Aviv)“You can't leave somebody behind. You have to address the different parts because if you leave a part of yourself behind, it's not gonna be good later. We need to progress the whole of ourselves. And sometimes it helps just to talk.” (48:33) (Aud) RESOURCES MENTIONED Portals of Perception WebsiteAviv's LinkedIn Aviv's TwitterAviv's Website

Should I get the Covid 19 Vaccine? Aaron Zamzow from Fire Rescue Fitness asks a Scientist (PHD- Harvard School of Public Health in Genetics & Complex Diseases) for advice. There are a lot of discussions around most houses and firehouses about the Covid 19 vaccine. As first responders we are one of the groups that are first in line to receive it. But, is it safe? And does the data support that it is effective? Instead of listing tons of resources and spitting up what I found, I decided to interview one of the smartest people I know, Dr. Jeremy Stuart. Dr. Stuart is a long time friend who, by the way has his PH.D from the Harvard School of Public Health in Genetics & Complex Diseases.
