In this captivating episode of The Wandering Pilgrims, we journey back to the tumultuous 17th century to uncover the inspiring life of Benjamin Keach, a pivotal figure in religious history. Born on February 29, 1640, in Stoke Hammond, England, Keach's early years were shaped by the fervent faith of his family and the chaotic backdrop of the English Civil Wars. At just 15, a profound conversion ignited his passion for preaching, leading him to share his convictions in Winslow. As the political landscape shifted with the restoration of the monarchy, Keach faced severe persecution for his nonconformist beliefs, notably after publishing the revolutionary children's catechism, The Child's Instructor. His arrest marked a significant moment, but rather than retreating, Keach boldly preached from the pillory, exemplifying his unwavering commitment to his faith. Amidst the broader European upheaval, Keach's resilience and courage shone brightly.Relocating to London in 1668, Keach became a pastor in Southwark, where he introduced congregational hymn singing into Baptist worship—an act that sparked intense debates yet ultimately transformed worship practices. His prolific writing, including influential works like Tropologia and Exposition of the Parables, made complex theological concepts accessible to the ordinary believer, emphasizing practical applications of faith.Join us as we explore Keach's enduring legacy, from his contributions to hymnody to his role in the adoption of the Second London Baptist Confession of Faith. His life not only reflects the challenges of his time but also serves as a testament to the power of conviction and the impact one individual can have across generations. As we navigate through Keach's remarkable journey, we gain insight into the resilience required to uphold one's beliefs amidst adversity.Support our mission:▪️ Buy Me a Coffee: buymeacoffee.com/wanderingpilgrims▪️ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/TheWanderingPilgrims▪️ Shop: https://shop.thewanderingpilgrims.com/▪️ Our Website: www.thewanderingpilgrims.comConnect with us here:▪️ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thewanderingpilgrims/▪️ Facebook: https://m.facebook.com/The-Wandering-Pilgrims-581206039071736/

Écrit-on différemment lorsqu'on compose ?

The Sports Experience Podcast with Chris Quinn and Dominic DiTolla
Episode 286 of “The Sports Experience Podcast” is here & we're continuing our block on some of the NFL's best postseason games of all time.In this episode we're discussing the 1981 AFC Divisional Playoff game between the Miami Dolphins and the San Diego Chargers. In a clash of styles, these two teams lived up to the hype. The “Air Coryell” Chargers sped out to a 24-0 lead in the first quarter with some incredible plays on offense & special teams.Don Shula's Dolphins eventually hit their stride when they inserted backup quarterback Don Strock, and they only found themselves down 24-17 at Halftime after a “Hook & Lateral” play at the end of the first half led to a touchdown by Tony Nathan. On a hot & muggy evening in Miami, both teams battled back and forth in the second half. The Dolphins almost won the game in regulation until Dan Fouts threw a touchdown pass to James Brooks late in the fourth quarter.Miami responded when they set up Uwe von Schamann for a field goal attempt to clinch the game on the final play, but Kellen Winslow blocked the game-winning field goal attempt to force OT.During the marathon extra period, both San Diego and Miami could not convert field goal attempts. However, Fouts, Charlie Joiner, Wes Chandler and Winslow helped the Chargers set up a 29 yard field goal attempt for Rolf Benirscke towards the end of OT. Benirscke drilled the kick & San Diego won what many consider to be the greatest postseason game in NFL history.Connect with us on Instagram!Chris Quinn: @cquinncomedyDominic DiTolla: @ditolladominicProducer: @ty_englestudioInstagram: @thesportsexperiencepodcastIf you enjoy this podcast, please help support us @:https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-sports-experience-pod/support#sportspodcast#comedypodcast#miamidolphins#sandiegochargers

I was lucky enough to be a dnb raver in Washington DC and Baltimore during the late 1990's and early 2000's. It was only years later that I came to realize how extra special that period was for DC dnb and its own roots and culture. This weeks guest played an integral part in building a lot of that. It's really humbling to share this one with ya'll. Please welcome, R4NS0M. Originally hailing from the storied Washington DC drum & bass scene, Boston's R4NS0M has been at the forefront of the American drum & bass movement since its early days. Over the course of his career, He's performed at legendary events like Buzz, Ultraworld, Resonate, Eklektic, Platinum, Respect, Elements, and Cadence, and crafted mixes for Toronto's iconic Prophecy FM and Winslow's Bad Snares Anonymous. As a producer, he's released music on such labels as Moving Shadow, Ohm Resistance, Soul Deep, Detached Audio, 1 More Thing, WiddFam, and 4 Corners Music, and worked with a number of artists, including Sinthetix, Corrupt Souls, UFO!, Ben Rolo, Fake, Dvalue and Metcalf. With decades of work under his belt, and a decidedly individual take on the drum-n-bass sound, R4NS0M continues to cement one of the more unique legacies in the history of the genre as a creator and pioneer. We kicked off our adventure at Meteor Crater RV Parrk! Then, made our way to Winslow, AZ (yep, the “Take It Easy” corner from the Eagles!). Got our Route 66 fix and a tasty lunch at The Relic. Next stop: Santa Fe, where we woke up to snow—twice! Drove through snow-covered landscapes to Taos Ski Valley and soaked in the views. Santa Fe's charming adobe architecture was stunning, but dinner? Not so much. Now, it's onward to Texas for some sunshine and good times with friends! Let the next adventure begin!

The Skeleton Crew might refer to more than just Jod, SM-33, and the "core four" on the Onyx Cinder. Many of the crew, as it so happens, are now skeletons. Some people try losing weight at spas, but Lanupa is built on a pirate's lair, so you know, there are those who really are just bones. The magic of a youthful journey in space is starting to wear thin for Wim, who misses home. Fern's attitude has finally cost her captainship, though ironically it's not really her fault when it actually happens. K-B can spot Aurabesh even when it's on ceilings and Neel triggers traps that require people to, well, kneel. "You Have A Lot To Learn About Pirates" is a wonderfully written episode from Myung Joh Wesner in the midst of a Star Wars show that returns some of the goodwill that Disney and Lucasfilm have lost over the past couple years because of their openly stated social agendas. It's family friendly, but still fun and funny. If you're looking for adult themes, why are you watching Star Wars content in the first place? Why did Rennod have a lightsaber, where did he get it, and who lost it so many years ago? What is the deal with Jod's past and is that really his name? SM-33 not only remembers At-Attin now, but also the way to Rennod's lair, but not the traps. Lanupa, planet of luxurious mud baths and Skull Ridge Mountain hosts Muun, Hutts, and Ithorians alike with humans as hotel executives and security staff. Cthallops isn't a destroyer of worlds, but a destroyer of hidden pirate barriers. Pokkit survived leeches, but can she survive acid? Oh, and poor Gunter...Silvo is no Winslow. Was Tak Rennod a Weequay? Theorize along with This is the Way Podcast by sending in your thoughts to our email address, which you can discover through listening to the show. On this episode, we discuss books about chosen or found family, one of the prompts on the Summer-Fall Books & Bites Bingo reading challenge. According to library database NoveList, books with this theme focus on families "formed by choice, rather than birth." Close friends, nontraditional families, and people who bond over their circumstances can all form chosen families. Our picks include a YA novel about a found family of unhoused teens trying to save the world; an alternative history about a ragtag crew working to rid the Mississippi River of its feral hippo problem; and a historical novel about a chosen family in post-World War II England and Italy.Jacqueline's Pick: The Sword of Summer by Rick RiordanRiordan weaves Norse mythology into a mythical fantasy novel for modern day teen readers. When main character Magnus's mother is murdered in their Boston apartment by wolves, he becomes homeless. Magnus keeps ahead of the truant officers and the wolves who killed his mother with the help of two other homeless teens. The three teens become close and look out for each other on the streets of Boston. On his sixteenth birthday, Magnus learns that he is the son of a Norse god, Frey. Magnus is the only one who can retrieve weapons that can save the world from doomsday (Ragnarök).Pairing: Perfect homemade falafel in honor of Arab American character Sam.Michael's Pick: River of Teeth by Sarah GaileyThis alternate history tale introduces us to a late 19th Century U.S. where hippos have been introduced into the Mississippi River that runs through Louisiana. The story opens with the federal government hiring Winslow Houndstooth, a former hippo rancher, to assemble a crew to take care of the feral hippo problem before the river's crumbling dam fails. This ragtag group forms a highly dysfunctional chosen family. This hippo caper, or operation, as Winslow would say, is action-packed with hippo mayhem and full of colorful, interesting characters.Pairing: A 19th century hippo romp calls for a 19th century New Orleans cocktail, the La Louisiane.Carrie's Pick: Still Life by Sarah WinmanStill Life is a witty, sprawling historical novel about art, love, and friendship. It opens in WWII-era Florence, Italy, where 24 year-old British soldier Ulysses "Temps" Temper meets a kindred spirit, sixty-something art historian Evelyn Skinner.Their time together in Florence is brief, with Temps and Evelyn's lives diverging into parallel narratives. Each forms their own chosen families, but will these two friends ever reunite?Still Life spans the years 1901-1979, and plenty of things happen during that time. But relationships are the focus of this character-driven, leisurely paced novel.Pairing: Pasta with olive oil and chili. Learn how to make two fresh pasta versions on the Pasta Grannies YouTube channel: "How to make an easy garlic, chilli & pepper pasta - with a twist!" and "Enjoy Maria's garlic, chili pepper & olive oil dressed 'sthridhlja' pasta!" Or make it using dried pasta with a recipe from the blog Saturdays in Rome.

Legendary music producer, the mysterious Swan (Paul Williams) is searching high and low for the perfect sound to open up his ultimate Rock Palace. While holding auditions he hears it, Winslow Leach (William Finley) presents his epic cantata, Faust. With the help of his right hand man, Philbin (George Memmoli) Swan plots to steal the music away and give it to his own find The Juicy Fruits (Archie Hahn, Jeffrey Comanor, Harold Oblong) and sets Winslow up to be sent away to Sing Sing. Succeeding in sending Winslow away, Swan attempts to open The Paradise with stolen music, upon hearing this Winslow escapes on a rampage that ends with his head in a record press, disfiguring him. Believing he's dead, Swan again attempts a reopening this time with the Juicy Fruits as the Beach Bums who Winslow, now the Phantom, attacks again. In the following auditions, the Phantom insists upon Phoenix (Jessica Harper) is the only one who could be his voice and sells his soul to have his music heard, but Swan cannot tolerate perfection in anyone but himself so again he he searches for another to sing Faust when he finds...Beef (Graham Greene) who dies onstage performing a dead man's music at the hands of the Phantom. Since someone burned for her to sing, Phoenix takes the stage and takes her place beside Swan as his bride set for assassination on stage the following night. The days are long and the nights are frightening, nothing matters anyway and thats the hell of it - Phantom of the Paradise, this week on Doom Generation. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/doomgeneration/support

(17:10) Tim Anderson was DFA'd by the Marlins. The Marlins continue to pay players to not be there. (30:15) NPPOD. (34:30) Review: Furiousa. (38:00) Let me explain what's happening with the Detroit Tigers broadcaster Craig Monroe. It's not good. (46:00) The Florida Panthers have a new TV deal. Goodbye, Bally. Hello, Scripps.
