The writings testify to me. I know you do not love God from your heart. I will not rebuke you in the presence of the Father; the same Moses will rebuke you. If you believed in Moses, you would believe in me.
October 1, 2023 @ 10:00 a.m. Core 52: Set Apart: Jesus and MosesThis week we get to look at two lives within God's Word that were truly set apart. They were set apart in different ways but for very similar purposes. One's life is a foreshadowing of the other. One of these lives was used by God to free His people from Egyptian slavery. The other has brought freedom from guilt and shame to all who call upon His name. One's life is a foreshadowing of the other. It is an incredible example of God's faithfulness to all generations. We would love for you to join us to see how this core truth applies to your life today. It is hard to believe that fall is already here. As fall sets in and the holidays approach, we would love an opportunity to share God's love with you and your family. There is a place for you within our family at Berea. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/escape-urself-podcast/support

Jesus and Moses -Hebrews 3-1-6--I. Two faithful apostles-II. One glorious apostle
Jesus and Moses -Hebrews 3-1-6--I. Two faithful apostles-II. One glorious apostle
Here is a comparison between Moses and Jesus. Moses served in the house but Jesus is the Son over the house. Jesus owns the house and will care for you!
Today, we are going to look at Luke 20:27-40 where we see Jesus's authority is being challenged again but this time his challengers are using their Bible, Moses' teaching. They quote Moses and ask Jesus what he thinks so it really becomes a message about the clarity of God's Word. There are many different teachings and denominations and divisions among people who claim to believe the Bible. Does that ever discourage you? Well I hope to encourage you today with the doctrine of the Clarity of God's Word - God's Word is clear enough for us to learn everything we need for salvation and godliness. It takes work and training and skill but Everything a willing heart needs for salvation and a life of godliness are very clearly set forth in Scripture able to be understood but it does take some effort.
Patrick offers a biblical overview of Moses as a type or prefigurement of Christ and explains the profound parallels between Moses liberating the people from bondage in Egypt with that of Christ liberating us by his Passion and death from bondage to sin. 12-6-20 The Weary World Rejoices: Jesus and Moses (Stan Killebrew)
In this episode, we look into the comparison of Jesus with Moses. In Moses' faithfulness as a servant, we gain unexpected insights into God's opinion of racism as well as the prophetic implications of the signs the Lord gave him in their encounter at the burning bush. Moses was a type of Christ. As I wrote in my book Love Everlasting: A Practical Theology of Time, "Moses will walk through the sea on dry ground. Jesus walked on the waves. Moses takes his sandals off at the foot of the bush. Jesus had his feet nailed to the tree. Moses will turn his hand leprous. Jesus will grab the leper and make him clean. Moses will bring deliverance in his time, pointing to the deliverance of all time, Jesus the Lamb of God."
Be careful who you follow!Core52 has brought us through Abraham, Moses and, a couple weeks, David. Greatest leaders of Jewish history. Main passage for this week:Deuteronomy 18:18 ESVFollow the Leader - MosesNumbers 21:4–5 NLTNumbers 21:1–5 NLTThey failed to trust in Moses’ leadership and God’s power and started to grumble and complain. They cast doubt on the goodness of God.Loathe food from heaven? Just shows that even the best gifts and blessings of God can be taken for granted.Numbers 21:4–9 NLTNumbers 21:6–8 ESVNumbers 21:6–7 NLTThere are consequences for doubting God and for rebellion.Numbers 21:8–9 NLTGod’s direction is a bit odd. Not too many man-made symbols (outside the tabernacle which a shadow of heaven) in Jewish faith.Deuteronomy 18:18 NLTFollow the True Leader - JesusMatthew 4:19 NLTJesus calls us to follow him to healing. Not to stare at a snake on a pole, but to himself.Matthew 9:9 NLTMatthew 10:38 ESVWe hurting, we’re sick to death. We’ve tried every remedy we can think of.Nothing completely heals our hurts, fulfills our needs and desires.John 3:14–15 NLTWhat does it look like to come to Jesus? It looks like following him, taking his leadership.Matthew 16:24 NLTMatthew 19:21 ESVAn unusual call to follow the leader.John 12:32 NLTJohn 5:24 NLTIn a deeper and more meaningful way, Jesus draws us to be healed at his cross.John 5:21 ESV1 Peter 2:24 NLTWho you chose to follow in life matters. It’s likely there were many in Moses’ day who thought looking at a bronze snake on a pole wasn’t going to save them. They still rejected Moses’ leadership and direction. Bible says it was a deadly decision.Putting our faith in Jesus as he calls us to his cross may also seem like an unusual decision. Following any other source is equally deadly.

It's a bit of irony that some of the greatest movements in the history of the church have been birthed out of some of the sharpest disagreements. Some of the things we celebrate most started off as.....well, a fight. They started off as people on two sides of the aisle unable to come to a conclusion and having very different opinions about the way that things should progress. In Acts 15:1-2, we see one of those situations.  But some men came down from Judea and were teaching the brothers, {The brothers---the church in Antioch) "Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved." And after Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and debate with them, Paul and Barnabas and some of the other were appointed to go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and the elders about this question.  What follows, in Acts 15, is what we will refer to as the Jerusalem Council. It was one of the church's first ever business meetings. You didn't want to miss a business meeting in the early church though. Some business meetings ended with your teachers being sent on the very first ever missionary journey. You don't want to miss that one. This one you didn't want to miss either. This Jerusalem Council, this church business meeting, actually set the trajectory for the New Testament church. I think what's decided in Acts 15 is the biggest decision the church has ever made.  Can you just imagine what this 300 mile---probably fifteen to twenty day journey---was like? What do you talk about on the way up to Jerusalem from Antioch? Three hundred miles. Paul. Barnabas. Some other people. There might have been some men there that had a vested interest in what this council would decide.  Do I have to have a surgery to be part of the church or not? That's part of what's being decided here. But at the core of what they're going to figure out at the Jerusalem Council is what does it really mean, at a very base level, to follow the way of Jesus? What does Jesus ask of us? Is it Jesus AND Moses? Is it Jesus AND surgery? Is it Jesus plus fill-in-the-blank, whatever law you want to fill in from the old covenant? Is it Jesus plus or is it just Jesus? That's what they're going to figure out. A three hundred mile journey and they walk into this meeting where they're going to make the biggest decision the church has ever made.  Here it is in verse 5:  But some believers who belonged to the part of the Pharisees rose up {Notice: These are believers who are part of the party of the Pharisees, so they got a little residual, okay?}  and said, "It is necessary to circumcise them {Gentile believers who have come to faith in the Jewish Messiah, his name is Jesus.}  and {This is a big 'and.'} to order them to keep the law of Moses. Â
The entire Old Testament is subtly shouting Jesus' name, it is pregnant with the presence of the Messiah who will save the world. Â This week we look at the comparisons between Moses'--birth, exodus, leadership and Jesus' birth, new exodus, teaching. Text: Various Texts Teacher: Eric Williams

Consider Jesus and put your hope in him, because: I. Jesus is faithful to God's House, vv1-2. II. Jesus is the builder of God's House, vv3-4. III. Jesus is the Son over God's House, vv5-6.
The Hebrew writer shows Moses and Jesus as those who were given charge over the same house, God's house. The house of God is nothing other than the assembly of the faithful saints of God.
