Stephen Andersen. Psalm 119:137-144. "In times of zeal and trouble delight in God's righteousness whose word is forever righteous."
God is love, but God is also light and truth and just. He is a God who is merciful and forgiving, but who will by no means clear the guilty. Jesus is not only the Savior of sinners but the Judge of all men. This is why the true prophets had broken hearts and Jesus Himself wept over Jerusalem, a city that hated Him. It is also why the father of the prodigal son joyfully celebrated his son's return home after facing the truth about himself.Support the show

Though everything may fail around us, we will rejoice in the LORD and His salvation, and we will find strength in Him.
Series: Encouragement for Pilgrims on the WayScripture: 1 Thessalonians 2:17-3:13Speaker: Pastor David HallettHave you ever been separated from someone you love deeply—maybe a child, a close friend, or a fellow believer—and found yourself anxiously wondering how they're doing? That's the kind of love Paul expresses for the Thessalonian believers in today's passage. His heart is like that of a parent torn away from a beloved child. He longs to see them, worries about their spiritual well-being, and even fears that his ministry among them might have been in vain. But then comes the good news: Timothy returns with a joyful report of their steadfast faith and love. Paul's anxious heart overflows with thanksgiving and relief. Yet Paul doesn't stop there. He prays earnestly that their love for one another would increase, and that their holiness would deepen—so they would be ready to stand blameless before Jesus at His return. This is love that longs, rejoices, and grows. We, too, need to ask God to shape our hearts with the same Christlike love for one another, to be ready for the day Jesus comes again.
HT2260 - Creativity Rejoices in Routine Two creative individuals who I particularly admire are Anthony Trollope and Johannes Brahms. What these two have in common and have provided as examples for the creative life is the consistency of their creative output by the routines they religiously kept. We also check in with Becket senior counsel Will Haun as the Supreme Court is expected to take up a very important case that is bringing parents of all faiths together in Maryland as they fight to keep pride books out of the classroom. Msgr. Father Roger Landry also offers an inspiring homily to prepare us for the Presentation of the Lord. Catch the show every Saturday at 7amET and %pmET EWTN radio!

Today's Promise: Zephaniah 3:17 Did you know that God rejoices over you? So many Christians feel God is mad or frustrated with them. They think their Christian life is just one big disappointment to God. They come to God in prayer, filled with regret, shame, and embarrassment. God holds you in his arms and sings over you. He looks down from heaven and declares, "That's my boy! That's my girl! I love them so much! I am so proud of them!" Today, God is singing over you the way a proud father sings over his newborn child.
In this episode of Home Business Profits, Ray Higdon explores the importance of not despising small beginnings, especially as we enter the new year 2025. Drawing from Zechariah 4:10 and Ephesians 4:26-27, Ray encourages listeners to rejoice in starting new ventures and making positive changes. He also emphasizes the significance of not going to bed angry, whether at others or oneself, and relates this to scriptural teachings. Ken Burns is an icon. He's been making documentaries for nearly 50 years, and has taught more people about American History than anyone else. His documentaries span topics such as baseball, jazz, national parks, U.S. presidents, authors, and inventors. And his television series, The Civil War, attracted an audience of 40 million during its premiere, becoming the most watched show in the history of public television. Ken's films have been honored with dozens of major awards, including seventeen Emmy Awards, two Grammy Awards, and two Oscar nominations. And Ken won the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and was recently inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame. In this episode we discuss the following: Ken kept three-ring binders on his desk that had hundreds of rejections. Those binders reminded Ken that we pay for what we get with effort, hard work, and perseverance. I love how Ken followed his passion. He ignored the conventional advice to move to New York City, and instead followed his heart and moved to New Hampshire, and that made all the difference. In the words of Emerson: I will so trust that what is deep is holy, that I will do strongly before the sun and moon whatever inly rejoices me, and the heart appoints. Today on the Daily Nugget, Mike shares one of the best stories of advent. When John is in the presence of Jesus, even in the womb, he is filled with a leaping kind of joy!
How do you think God feels about you? It's easy to get the idea that God is a disappointed father who begrudgingly still loves you just because he has to. Or maybe you see him as an angry God who has unrealistic expectations for you that you can't live up to. In our lesson from Zephaniah we learn how God really feels about his children. God loves you so much that he rejoices over you with singing!

Order of Service: - Prelude - Hymn 139 - Once in Royal David's City - Philippians 4:4-7: Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The story: the coming of Jesus is cause for joy (vv. 39-45)For some of us, the Christmas season can be hard for various reasons. And yet, regardless of our circumstances, the coming of Jesus should be a cause for great joy in our hearts. How does Jesus coming to earth give you joy? What is one step you could take this Christmas season to create time and space to reflect on how the coming of Jesus should lead to greater joy in our hearts? Luke 1:45 says, “And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.” In your own life, when have you seen the blessing of taking God at his Word?2. The song: our joy is fueled by what God's sending of Jesus reveals about himself (vv. 46-56)A. Might: God has done great things to save (vv. 46-49)How is God's might revealed in his sending of Jesus to earth as a baby? Mary's heart overflows in song to God as she marvels that God would choose her to bear the Messiah. Though not in the same way as he did with Mary, it is God's intention to use each of us to further his kingdom purposes on earth. How have you seen God use you for his purposes in the world (be it in a big way or small)? B. Mercy: God shows his favor to those who fear him (no matter how low in the world's eyes) (vv. 50-53)How is God's mercy revealed in his sending of Jesus to earth as a baby? Why is God's mercy for those who fear him (and implicitly not for those who don't)? Read vv. 51-53 again. How have you seen God do what is described here? C. Memory: God remembers his promise to help his believing people (vv. 54-55)In vv. 54-55 Mary said, “He has helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy, as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his offspring forever.” How did God do this through his sending of Jesus into the world as a baby? God sent his Son into the world on a mission (cf. Luke 19:10). How should God's purposes in sending Jesus into the world shape our purposes as individuals, Gospel Communities, and as a local church? Who could you share this story within the coming week? Prayer
Seek Mary's joy in God, through Mary's humility before God.
If you have been justified by faith, rejoice! The God who has loved you in Christ will also bring you to glory.
Have you ever watched a child as his parents are away for a few hours? Often, you observe him making sure he is doing exactly what his parents taught him:: from food, homework, and bedtime routines and informing you to do them right as well as sticking to what his parents set for him and instructed him to do. It takes a very long time for him to turn away from seeking the instructions settled by his parents because this very child is always waiting to be instructed and corrected, even if he may not always show it. This week's proverbs unfolds to us that the righteous is likened to such a wise son who listens and heeds to the instruction of his Father in heaven, whereas a person who does not hear His voice would suffer through living in torment with many thoughts and insecurities because we do not deeply know that we are loved by God, if we turn to diligence, we can only seek what is in God's heart for us!
In this week's message, we continue our series in Luke: The Teachings of Jesus. Pastor Eric Hovis shows us how Jesus teaches us the following: Sin is both alluring and destructive. God is compassionate toward the repentant. God warns against self-righteousness.
Today on the Matt Walsh Show, first Media Matters had mass layoffs and now the Southern Poverty Law Center has followed suit. It's been a bloodbath for left-wing smear merchants in recent weeks. This is obviously cause for celebration. But why is this happening? And why now? We'll discuss. Also, Donald Trump is accused of saying unkind things about Milwaukee. The story is total nonsense, but it has forced the Left to pretend that they love Milwaukee, which has been funny to watch. Plus, a major scandal in the world of professional sports. And, an alleged "trad wife" becomes a viral sensation after saying the n-word. This is an important story, we're told.
