For 35 years, Dr. Bill Blatchford has helped dentists increase their net return, time away, and enjoyment of life. He is one of the strongest voices for profitability, with special emphasis on mastering sales conversation, in the dentistry field. Before becoming a consultant, Dr. Bill Blatchford practiced dentistry for 20 years in Corvallis, Oregon. He has written several books, including Dentist's Mighty Guide Book, Playing Your ‘A' Game, and Blatchford Blueprints. Dr. Christina Blatchford is the Co-CEO of Blatchford Solutions. She is a graduate of Oregon Health Sciences University School of Dentistry and has her doctorate degree in medical dentistry. She practices family and general dentistry in Milwaukie, OR, and has taken a Maxicourse for Implants and Cerec training. Along with her father, Dr. Bill Blatchford, she coaches a maximum of 50 dentists each year and help them reach their goals. In this episode… Most people think of dental treatments as optional. Yes they're healthy, but will you die if you don't get treated? Actually, in some cases, the answer might be yes. Sleep apnea is an underestimated health problem. Nearly one in four adults have some form of obstructive sleep apnea, and it's a contributing factor to type two diabetes, debilitating strokes, and heart attacks. As a dentist, you can help offer treatments to your patients to treat this issue. Not only will it give them a healthier lifestyle, it will also provide some extra cash flow to your business. In this podcast episode, Dr. Chris Salierno interviews Drs. Bill and Christina Blatchford, the Co-CEO of Blatchford Solutions, about how to build your business by offering sleep apnea treatments. Dr. Bill Blatchford explains why sleep apnea is a huge problem, how to bring your team members on board, and the process of internally marketing this service. Plus, you get an exclusive excerpt from Dr. Blatchford's book, Bringing Your ‘A' Game 2.0.

Let’s talk about dental implant continuing education for the general dentist! I’m often asked what the best courses are for a general dentist to learn implantology. The short answer is to take all of the courses you can, but the longer answer depends on other things including what you already know, your current abilities, and the current state of your practice. The rules of the marketplace have fundamentally shifted, and the gatekeepers aren’t as powerful as they used to be. Now, anyone can break into implantology if it’s something they want enough. And now that this shift has happened, the biggest obstacle to your success is in your head. It’s time to get past that and write your own story! Now let’s get into specific. My recommendation for a general dentist getting into implantology is to take multiple paths over a long period of time. A specific suggestion that I highly recommend on the business side is my own Dental Implant MBA program. You’ll learn how to develop, market, and master your implant practice through this series of courses. (Also, check out my mini-course on dental implant funnel marketing.) If you’re not sure whether implant dentistry is something you’re interested in, try a short weekend course. I recommend Glidewell Dental’s Restorative Driven Implant Solutions Utilizing the Latest Technology course, or Implant Dentistry 101 from Implant Direct. Both of these are great introductory courses for implantology. Once you’re ready for a comprehensive course with implant training, I recommend Implant Pathway. This takes a big amount of material and delivers it within a shorter, more consumable package. I believe it’s the best implant training that there is for beginners! For a longer, in-depth course and credentialing with the AAID, I highly recommend a MaxiCourse. If you want something that’s all online, look into DentalXP's Online Implant Fellowship Program. It’s a challenging, rigorous course that will leave you top-level implantology knowledge. That’s a lot of suggestions, and there are a lot more courses. I hope this episode has helped give you a place to start! If you need advice or opinions on these or other courses, please feel free to reach out to me directly. In This Episode: [00:13] - Philip welcomes listeners back to the show, and explains that this episode will be about dental implant continuing education for the general dentist. [01:03] - We hear about the importance of creating a different story if what you’re doing now isn’t working. [01:55] - The rules have fundamentally shifted in a way that lets anyone break into implantology, Philip explains. [03:01] - Philip shares an inspirational story, and explains how it applies to the dental industry. [04:37] - We get into CE courses for implantology for the general dentist, with Philip offering his recommendations. [05:51] - Philip offers two recommendations for short courses to figure out whether implant dentistry is right for you: Restorative Driven Implant Solutions Utilizing the Latest Technology or Implant Dentistry 101. [06:27] - We hear Philip’s recommendation for the next course once you decide that implant dentistry is something you want to pursue: Implant Pathway. [07:27] - Philip recommends the AAID MaxiCourse for a longer, more in-depth course into dental implantology. [08:21] - For a comprehensive, all-online course, try the Online Implant Fellowship Program from DentalXP. [09:09] - There are tons of other courses that there isn’t time to dig into, Philip explains. The ones he has recommended, though, are the basics that will get you started. “All of our speakers were like, hey here’s my cell. You need something, call me. And that’s the kind of camaraderie in an organization that’s priceless. I’ve never heard of that anywhere else.” “Doctor Dad,” or as the AAID knows him, Dr. Jay Elliot, has had a profound influence on his daughter, Kallie, and her husband, Kyle—both of whom are dentists. In fact, they come from an entire line of dentists. Doctors Kyle and Kallie Hale were high school sweethearts who tackled their dental journey in the best way possible…together. The couple went to dental school, achieved their Master’s degrees, completed the AAID Houston MaxiCourse®, and are now associates for Dr. Elliot. Should we mention the couple accomplished all of this with two young children and a third on the way? This episode is perfect for the younger dentists looking for direction and a support group in their dental career. Listen in! Recorded live from the 67th Annual Conference in Dallas, TX by Drs.
