The amazing people we talked to in the Ivoclar (https://www.ivoclar.com/en_us) Ballroom during the 40th anniversary of LMT Lab Day Chicago just keep coming and this week we have a stellar line up. First up is Eric Kukucka. Eric came on the podcast years ago to talk about his multiple denturist practices in Canada. But he has since sold them and has joined the Aspen Dental (https://www.aspendental.com/) group as their Vice President of Clinical Removable Prosthetics & Design Technologies. Eric talks about going from making dentures for hundreds of patients to working with a team to produce quality dentures for millions. Then we chat with Chelsea Homire, who has years of dental assistant experience, but when given the oppritunity to learn the in-office lab work, she took off. With a passion for printing, Chelsea is now teaching other offices (and even a few labs) how they can optimize their digital workflow. We wrap up the episode with Brittany Mitchell. You might know her becuase she designed (and made the denture) on our "Just Say No to Brushing" shirt, but she's also a talented removable technician. Brittany talks about starting in at the front desk, drawing a picture that got notices and placed in the lab, falling in love with it, and making digital dentures for a 12 doctor dental group. Don't miss this incredible webinar with Tanya Little, a dentist from beautiful Vancouver, Canada. We would like to invite you to a special webinar that she's hosting with Ivoclar (https://www.ivoclar.com/en_us) and LMT (https://lmtmag.com/) on Wednesday, May 7th, titled "Reflections from a Denturist: 20 Years of Crafting Dentures!". In this program, she will review the incredible history of removables with Ivoclar and focus on the new and exciting evolution based print resin and of course, the PM7. Her goal is to provide you with several key takeaways that will allow you to work smarter and not harder. Crown Council Mentor of the Month | Helping Dental Teams Build a Culture of Success
Dr. Kemmet grew up on a farm near Tappen, ND where his father farms and runs a water/irrigation well drilling company. His father jokes that he stayed in the family business drilling holes. The rest of Dr. Kemmet's family, his mother and sister, are registered nurses. It is easy to see why dentistry, with its hands-on, practical application to medicine was a draw to him with his solid North Dakota born and bred background! Uniquely, Dr. Kemmet attended a boarding high school in West St. Paul, MN, St. Croix Lutheran High School, then received his degree in Chemistry from NDSU in Fargo. He went on to receive his degree in Dental Surgery from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis in 2007. Dr. Kemmet initially practiced in South Dakota for nearly 3 years with the Indian Health Service before joining a residency program in Oklahoma for an additional year after that. He then moved back to Minneapolis for 2 years and worked for a large private practice group dental office, as well as for Children's Dental Services, a low-income high-need dental service where he practiced throughout the Minneapolis/St. Paul area in Head Start facilities, grade schools, and middle schools. In 2012, Dr. Kemmet made the decision to move back “home” to North Dakota. To him, Minot was the perfect blend of city and country. He purchased the dental practice of Dr. Curtis Kumpf, and within 18 months had relocated his practice, freshly redesigned by his friend Chris Hawley, to its current location in the heart of the Town & Country Center Mall. Dr. Kemmet loves family time with his wife Grace and their three children, two dogs and cat. They are always finding ways to road trip for a hike in the mountains, fishing with his friends for charity, or finding a concert to attend. His life hobby has been prairie dog “hunting” which really is just long-distance precision shooting. They are currently enjoying gardening, home renovations, and anything else they can do together. Professionally Dr. Kemmet doesn't seem to know the meaning of slowing down. He is always looking to advance not only his own knowledge, but the field of dentistry itself in the rapidly changing field of airway related dentistry and growth and development, where his passion lies. He has mentored classes at Spear Education in Scottsdale Arizona since 2010 in areas from same-day crowns with CEREC technology, to treatment planning, and now focusing on Airway. In addition to running Kemmet Dental Design, Dr. Kemmet is working to change how dentistry is taught in ND. It was Dr Kemmet's vision of helping our community of dentistry in ND through increased access to dental hygiene and assistant training. He believes we have just scratched the surface of where we need to be. He has a goal to double our Nursing classes in Minot as well as triple our Dental Hygiene and assisting classes to help alleviate our national shortage and grow our community. To accomplish this, he envisions a full dental hygiene clinic where extern dentists from regional dental schools can complete their training and current dental assistants and hygienists from other areas in our country can also learn expanded function dentistry. This would help alleviate the demand for dental services in west and northwest ND and help our city and state residents with the best care possible. Fires start with a spark, and he has no shortage of fire in his passion for dentistry. Marvel Comics has pitched a new superhero movie, though Dr Kemmet doesn't want anyone to think that this is fantasy. It's for real life, as Bluey would say.

In this episode of the Millennial Dentist Podcast. Let's learn the essential skills needed to grow and scale a dental practice, stressing that being a proficient dentist is merely the starting point. This focuses on evaluating the growth potential of smaller practices, effectively managing larger ones, optimizing operational setups for efficiency, and embracing the "one doctor, one chair" approach. Additionally, I emphasize the importance of continuous education and advanced technique development, coupled with implementing marketing-driven patient acquisition strategies. This episode is made as Kevin regarding purchasing a practice and explores the delicate balance between clinical work and business management. @02:24 Business Leadership @05:04 Earnings @06:46 Growing the Business @08:57 Financial Success Join the Digital Implant Continuum https://3d-dentists.com/workshop/tooth-replacement-therapy-express-week-4/ Who is Dr. Sully Sullivan? Our first episode since returning from the AMAZING Exocad (https://exocad.com/) Insights meeting in SPAIN! Thank you to all the wonderful people that put on the show and to everyone that stopped by and recorded with us. We can't wait to release all the episodes! Go show some love to Jaume Aisa Moreno (https://www.facebook.com/jaume.aisamoreno) who is reuniting Elvis with his podcast laptop! Shaana Gripp started off as a dental assistant because of her grandmother. After getting into doing some lab work, found out that she really enjoyed it. In the early 2000s she was exposed to CEREC and a passion for designing started. Moving to a full-time position in a lab was where she picked up all the skills as they moved her from models, waxing, and eventually ceramics. Now Shaana is running an in-office lab that does the work of 8 dentists in 4 locations. Shaana talks about her journey, learning how to self-teach, daily life in her lab, and how photography plays a big part in her full arch work. Wanting to take your knowledge and skills to the next level? If you are looking for the best education dedicated to dentistry in both the labs and clinics, check out Ivoclar Academy. In this episode of the Millennial Dentist Podcast, I shared how people are willing to pay extra to receive outputs faster, and how we could optimize this for our business. It's incredible to consider that we could increase our earnings by offering faster services compared to their current status. A line from Jeff Bezos changed my mindset: "Americans will always want their product faster, and they will always want it cheap." That's when I started implementing it to my business, how could I offer the same process to the patients. Earn more learning the value of time and how it can sometimes be more important than money. By offering faster options and asking simple questions, we can make dental visits better for everyone. @02:34 Uncle Junio Experience @03:54 Making Exceptions @07:43 Strategies to Apply @09:01 Results and Feedback @12:49 Restaurant Experience Who is Dr. Sully Sullivan? In this episode of the Millennial Dentists Podcast, Tbone and I discussed the reasons why we lose our patients to other dentists. This is not a new phenomenon in dentistry; our patients either choose to replace us or new patients come in from other practices. This topic is painful, especially when a long-time patient decides to switch to another practice. Multiple skill-related issues contribute to this problem. We firmly believe that communication is the key to success. Through effective communication, we can address any anxieties patients may have regarding dental treatment. @04:29 Reason for Losing a Patient @09:56 General Dentistry vs Advance Complex Dentistry @15:17 Game Plan for Success @18:16 Lack of Financial Planning @27:03 Communication with Patients Who is Dr. Sully Sullivan? In this episode of Millennial Dentists Podcast, I talk about the implementation of Expanded Function Dental Assistants (EFDAs) into practice to support the One-Column Model as a system for streamlining operations. Moreover, we discuss how planning appointment visits contributes to delivering quality patient care and why it's worthwhile to use standard photography for educational and self-improvement purposes. Finally, we dive into the topic of strategic scheduling that can help with increasing revenue and also emphasize how essential skills enhancement remains an integral part of career success in the long run. @02:18 EFTAs & One-Column Model @06:35 Planning Appointment Visits @10:27 The Magic of Scheduling @16:57 Ways to Earn More @21:37 Importance of Upskilling Mentioned in the Podcast: Alabama Dental Association - https://www.aldaonline.org/ Who is Dr. Sully Sullivan? In this episode of the Millennial Dentist Podcast, I talk about the mindset we must have when we are onboarding a new dental associate. We are experiencing a change with our new associate, and this episode is to share the mentality and team culture we have to make this transition successful. In creating an environment, it is important to create a positive space where it is okay to fail. When it is our first time, we tend to be scared to do such procedures because what if we break the equipment? But having a team and a leader dentist who is willing to mentor you throughout will help you reach success. @02:59 What does onboarding look like? @04:44 Mentorship @10:32 Associate Success Path @15:33 Menu Evaluation @19:49 Recap Who is Dr. Sully Sullivan?
