In this fifth part of the series A Day in Madina by Shaykh Faid, he begins by describing the morning of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). He begins with how there is no guidance but the guidance of Allah Most High. There is nothing greater than learning about the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). While the challenges might have been difficult while in Madina, the companions did not waver and stood next the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) actually and figuratively. The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) came and sought blessings from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The companions did not take things for granted. They sought out the blessings from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on a regular basis. After the morning prayer the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would ask if there was anyone sick they could visit, out of his care and concern for the companions. Worries and concerns of the companions, were the worries and concerns of the prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) called those who believed in him even though they never met him as his brothers. The Prophet's actions (peace and blessings be upon him) have been transmitted from generation to generation. Shaykh Faid goes on and explains how after the companion Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) calls for the prayer, the companions wouldn't stand up until they saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). All of the Prophet's actions were with absolute humility. He (peace and blessings be upon him) would stand for his daughter Fatima as a way to honor her (may Allah be pleased with her). He gave attention to everyone, and honored everyone. Respect was learned from Prophetic actions. When Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Madina, he changed everything. This included the culture and people's attitude toward one another. The people's understandings and perspective changed. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was always engaged in something. He (peace and blessings be upon him) never wasted his time, was always doing dhikr, reciting Qur'an, serving others, etc. He remembered Allah in all of his states. When Anas (Allah be pleased with him) was brought to serve the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he was in fact brought to learn from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Everything benefits from the mercy of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) transformed people. His first concern was to return things that belong to people that he was in possession of. After the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) planned to leave, the leaders of Quraysh planned to kill him. He took all the means to ward the harm of Quraysh, but relied upon Allah alone. However, through the difficulties we see a complete portrayal of mercy through the Prophet's choices (peace and blessing be upon him). It was from prophetic practice to fast most of the month of Sha'ban. The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) informed us that Sha'ban is a month where out deeds are presented before Allah, and that he wanted his deeds to be presented while in a state of fasting. Shaykh Faid goes on to discuss that among the signs of and accepted repentance, is being eager to perform acts of worship. A believer should never despair. Allah is happy when his servants repents. Shaykh Faid Mohammed Said commends SeekersHub on the initiative they have taken to make knowledge available and accessible globally. He reminds students of knowledge of the great importance and blessing of knowledge. In the Qur'an knowledge comes before faith. One must remember that learning is a journey. The journey of seeking knowledge has no end. Therefore, seeking knowledge requires extra effort everyday, and focus. Shaykh Faid goes on to remind the students of knowledge in order for one to be successful, one must be consistent and leave distractions. There is nothing better to busy one's self with than seeking knowledge. He closes by counselling students that by putting in effort in seeking knowledge, facilitation and ease will come. He reminds everyone that it is a blessing to seek knowledge, and it is a blessing to serve those who are seeking knowledge as well. So we should all be appreciative and grateful for being able to seek knowledge for Allah's sake. For more SeekersGuidance podcasts and podcast shows, visit seekersguidance.org/podcasts. Bismillah-ir Rahman-ir Raheem “They want to extinguish the light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah will perfect His light, although the disbelievers dislike it.” (Surat As-Saf, 8) With all that we encounter in and around us in this world, we are often led to despair and we question and ask why. But do we really think that the Light of Allah (subhana wa ta'ala) can be affected by anyone or anything? Do we judge our condition by looking at those who are in power and despair when those in power are not righteous? We have to remember our Lord is Allah (subhana wa ta'ala)! The state of the real believer does not change no matter the situation, as they see the hidden Rahma of Allah (subhana wa ta'ala) everywhere, and they know there is a hikmah (wisdom) in everything.  Bismillah-ir Rahman-ir Raheem [And they should consider that] when those who have been followed disassociate themselves from those who followed [them], and they [all] see the punishment, and cut off from them are the ties [of relationship]. Those who followed will say, "If only we had another turn [at worldly life] so we could disassociate ourselves from them as they have disassociated themselves from us." Thus will Allah show them their deeds as regrets upon them. And they are never to emerge from the Fire. (Surah Al-Baqarah, 166-167) Allah (subhana wa ta'ala) described the Qur'an as a guide to the straight path; and the beauty of the Qur'an is that each ayah (verse) is beautiful and so much so that you cannot differentiate between the beauty of two ayahs! And the People of Qur'an, when they read and journey through the Qur'an, their skin shivers, as they learn, experience and become a part of something new each time they read and reflect on the Qur'an! In this world, people follow each other, look up to one another, enjoy the company of the other and follow their advice; hence there are two: the followed and their admirers. However, on the very Day that we will be made to account, people will be running away from one another, and those that were followed will disassociate themselves from their admirers; and the admirers will wish they had another chance to go back and disassociate themselves from the ones they had followed! Let this serve as a reminder to us all – let us not put ourselves in that position! Instead, let us connect to the Qur'an, as the greatest khair (blessing) is to live by, live with and to learn the Qur'an! Listen and #ShareTheNur! Allahumma salli alaa Nur. Shaykh Faid Mohammed Said

As Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasalam) said: “The example of good company is like being in a perfumery, either remnants of the perfume remain on you or you will carry the perfume in your hands; and the example of bad company is like visiting the establishment of the blacksmith, where you will either be affected by the smoke or you will carry the scent of it!” And Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasalam) said: “Everyone will be resurrected with his or her friend, - so choose who you will be with!” ...And as far as you remember Him, you are never alone! In this lesson, we are joined by visiting scholar, Shaykh Faid Said as he gives an overview of the chapter on Duties of Brotherhood from Imam Al-Ghazali's Ihya and the verses from the Quran that correspond to it. The believers are but brothers, so make settlement between your brothers. And fear Allah that you may receive mercy. [Quran, 49:10] In this ayah Allah tells us that Muslims in all their affairs are brothers and this is exemplified in the way the Prophet, peace be upon him, joined between the companions from Mecca and Madinah. For this reason, Allah tells the Prophet, that it is from Allah's favor upon him that he brought the hearts of the companions together, such that they were all one heart. The Prophet, peace be upon him, says that the Muslims in their love for one another are like one body, if one part feels pain the rest does. Shaykh Faid explains that brotherhood is one of the requirements of faith. The Prophet, peace be upon him says, that you cannot believe until you love one another. This brotherhood is a mercy from Allah, exalted is He. This is stressed even in the Fatiha, where we address Allah in the plural, as a reminder that we worship Allah by entering the circles of the righteous. Shaykh Faid concludes by reminding us that there are levels of paradise that cannot be attained except through brotherhood. Brotherhood is not only about being there for one another, helping them out when in trouble, but to keep an eye out for them and give them advice when they need it. In this series Shaykh Faraz, and the other scholars and teachers will be looking at points of reflection from key verses in the Quran. The series will follow the thematic order of Imam Ghazali's Ihya Ulum al-Din (Renewing the Religious Sciences). In this lesson of Renewal by the Book, we are joined by visiting scholar, Shaykh Faid Said. [Quran, 51:22] Allah provides for each their provisions from His generosity and to those whom we may not expect. The sunnah of all Prophets is to share food with people. The story of Prophet Ibrahim, when he invited one of his visitors to believe in God and he refused, Prophet Ibrahim wanted him to leave. However, Allah told Prophet Ibrahim, I have been sustaining him for his whole life, despite his disbelief, and you refuse to feed him. Such is the generosity of Allah. Shaykh Faid reminds us that one should be careful of how they acquire their livelihood but also how they spend it. It is not enough to eat halal but to collect your money from permissible work and permissible means. You can only seek permissible means if you have utmost faith in Allah. Shaykh Faid concludes with a reminder, that we should all rely on Allah for our sustenance but also to act to attain. However, one should always know that their sustenance, first and foremost, is from Allah. In this series Shaykh Faraz, and the other scholars and teachers will be looking at points of reflection from key verses in the Quran.
