All too often, artists say their goal is to “be famous” and on the cover of Rolling Stone or another magazine. When really, what the artist wants at heart is to make music for the rest of their life without working a day job that sucks their soul. You don’t need to be famous to meet reasonable goals in music. If you can convince just 1000 fans to pay you $5 a month for your content, you’ll be earning $60,000 per year! Obviously, that doesn’t factor in business expenses but it’s a great figure to start with. Listen now to learn more about the lie of fame, as well as four other detrimental lies that are commonly spread in the music community. What you’ll learn: Why “famous” isn’t a goal for a bandHow to ride the long tail of the industry to make a living without being a superstarWhy pay to play isn’t (always) evilHow to harness pay to play to grow your bandWhy anyone who says filing for copyright doesn’t matter is wrongWhy there’s no right or wrong way to do anything in musicHow to make sure the people running your band care about your success For full show notes visit https://thebetterbandbureau.com/33

In this epidsode I’m going to share five of my pet hates.Support the show: Jump on iTunes and review the showBands: Five Mile Sniper, Prettymess, Alcotomic
Time to say goodbye to a few false assumptions that have been holding you back! The music industry has stayed loyal to some really destructive myths, so it’s always great to see when independent artists find new methods for success once they’ve freed themselves of bad or outdated ideas and habits. In this episode, Kevin and Chris discuss those myths and bad habits. There are eight of them in all!
This week, our crew is joined by Pascual's good friend Kyle of the band Bad Wolves, the heavy metal band currently topping the charts with their cover of the Cranberries classic "Zombie". Kyle steps in to help us break down famous (and infamous) music myths that you may or may not have heard of. We also discuss Kyle's band and their new record as well as touch in on their releasing of the song "Zombie" in the wake of the untimely death of Cranberries' vocalist Dolores O'Riordan, who was slated to perform on the Bad Wolves version.

This week, I find the truth behind the legends of backward songs from Led Zeppelin & The Beatles, some steamy Guns N Roses, Hendrix on LSD and Marilyn Manson's ribs. I also review the new album from The Chris Robinson Brotherhood.
