Send us a textWhat legacy will you leave behind when you're gone? The question haunts us all in quiet moments, but we typically frame it in terms of material possessions—property, money, heirlooms. Today's exploration upends that notion completely, inviting us to consider that the most profound inheritance may not be tangible at all.Drawing from powerful scriptural foundations in Genesis, Psalms, and Proverbs, we uncover how biblical figures like Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, and Daniel weren't primarily beneficiaries of material inheritance. Rather, they received something far more enduring—a spiritual legacy, a blessing, a covenant relationship with God that transformed not just their lives but generations that followed. "A righteous man leaves an inheritance to his children's children," Proverbs tells us, but what is that inheritance exactly? The answer comes through a remarkable historical comparison between Jonathan Edwards and Max Jukes—contemporaries born in the early 1700s who left dramatically different imprints on the world. Edwards, the renowned theologian whose descendants included 100+ lawyers, multiple senators, governors, college presidents, and even a U.S. Vice President, versus Jukes, whose family line produced hundreds of premature deaths, imprisoned individuals, and societal burdens costing millions. Their contrasting legacies offer a profound lesson: "Your biology cannot stand your spirituality." The spiritual DNA we pass down often proves more influential than genetic inheritance. This truth challenges us all. What are we preparing to leave behind? A force of blessing that empowers generations, or patterns that perpetuate struggle? As the poem concludes: "Legacy is not left behind, it's passed on voice to mind. Choose your seed, choose your soil, choose your sun. The story is told when life is done." But the things that matter most, the true legacy I hope to leave behind, can't be boxed up or passed down in a Will. They are lessons, hard-earned and Heaven-taught, They have been shaped by years of walking under the Grace of God. Music Composed By: Mike Outland

— Tuned In is an inspiring story of one man's relentless pursuit of a dream, and a revealing testimony to the power of music in all our lives. The unique confluence of Jim Wilson's two careers - piano technician/confidant to the stars and a globally successful recording artist - has led to extraordinary experiences with some of the world's most exalted music legends: singing Beatle songs with Paul McCartney, limo rides with Elton John, road trips with Carole King, and horseback riding with Dan Fogelberg. But beyond this everyman's unique telling of intimate celebrity tales, Tuned In is an inspiring story of one man's relentless pursuit of a dream, and a revealing testimony to the power of music in all our lives. Emerging from a troubled childhood in a broken West Texas home, a young man moves to Los Angeles to pursue fame and fortune as a singer-songwriter. He soon strays from his mission when his piano tuning sideline blossoms into a career as piano technician to the entertainment industry's biggest names. His help in the development of the world's first MIDI-adapter for acoustic piano leads to him sharing adventures, sessions, meals, and laughs with dozens of his childhood heroes. His front row seat provides him with a rare and fascinating view into their creative processes. But when his world is shattered by his dearest friend's sudden and untimely death, he is forced to question the true meaning of success. He returns to his heart's purpose, takes a leap into the unknown, and sets out on a solo career, recording and performing his signature style of piano-featured instrumentals. Valeria interviews Jim Wilson — He is an Acclaimed Composer and Performer — the author of TUNED IN: Memoirs Of A Piano Man: Behind The Scenes With Music Legends And Finding The Artist Within. Jim Wilson could have simply dismissed himself as a competent piano tuner-technician, even an exceptional one. But he was, and is, so much more. From a broken home in Amarillo, Texas to a multi-award-winning recording artist, Jim Wilson's journey is a captivating tale of showbiz glamour, personal tragedy, self-discovery, and dogged determination. And, as is typical of Jim Wilson, he's turned out to be a pretty good wordsmith. Tuned-In: Memoirs of a Piano Man is a page-turner and a life-changer. It's a self-help book in the form of an autobiography. It is entertaining, revealing and full of lessons for musicians, fans, and all readers. Jim Wilson's life direction was set when he was given a guitar at age 7, then began composing songs at age 9. Soon after moving from West Texas to LA in his early 20's, he gained a reputation as a respected piano technician, catering to the highest echelon of the music industry. Jim helped develop the first MIDI-adapter for acoustic piano in the 80's, which became an instant hit with artists and studios around the world.  It was the shocking, untimely death of his closest friend that forced Jim to question the whole purpose of his life. With the love and support of his musical heroes — most significantly his friend and mentor, Dan Fogelberg — Jim set out on a solo career, composing, recording and performing his signature style of piano-featured instrumentals. Four of Jim's ten recordings have hit the Billboard Top-20, he's had two PBS specials, and his music has been streamed over 75 million times by fans around the globe. He was recently made a “Lifetime Member” of the Recording Academy. He enjoys scuba diving, skiing, pilot lessons, and mountain biking. Tuned In is Jim's first book. The negative impacts of overdose deaths on family members and friends are profound and multifaceted, affecting individuals emotionally, psychologically, socially, and economically.Emotional Trauma: The sudden loss of a loved one to overdose often leads to intense emotional trauma for family members and friends. They may experience shock, disbelief, anger, guilt, and profound sadness. The traumatic nature of the death can lead to long-term psychological issues such as depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).Grief and Mourning: Family members and friends go through a complex grieving process that may be compounded by feelings of shame and stigma associated with drug overdose. The stigma surrounding addiction can isolate them from their support networks, making it more challenging to cope with their grief.Sense of Powerlessness and Guilt: Loved ones may feel a sense of powerlessness and guilt, questioning whether they could have done more to prevent the overdose or help the individual struggling with addiction. This guilt can be overwhelming and lead to self-blame, further exacerbating their emotional distress.Disruption of Family Dynamics: The loss of a family member or friend to overdose can disrupt family dynamics and relationships. Siblings may struggle with feelings of abandonment or resentment, parents may experience strain in their marriage, and children may face challenges in processing the loss of a parent or sibling.Financial Strain: The financial burden of dealing with the aftermath of an overdose death can be significant. Funeral expenses, medical bills, and legal fees can strain the finances of the deceased's family, especially if the individual struggled with addiction and was unable to maintain stable employment.Social Isolation and Stigma: Family members and friends may face social isolation and stigma from their communities, which can exacerbate feelings of shame and prevent them from seeking support. The stigma associated with addiction and overdose may lead to judgmental attitudes and discrimination, further complicating the grieving process.Increased Risk of Substance Abuse: The trauma of losing a loved one to overdose may increase the risk of substance abuse among family members and friends as a maladaptive coping mechanism. Without proper support and intervention, they may turn to drugs or alcohol to numb their pain and alleviate their emotional distress.Impact on Children: Children who lose a parent or sibling to overdose are particularly vulnerable to long-term emotional and psychological effects. They may experience feelings of abandonment, confusion, and insecurity, which can manifest in behavioral problems, academic difficulties, and emotional instability. In a new study that has been released by the RAND corporation, roughly 42% of adults in America know at least one person who has died from an accidental overdose. In this powerful episode of ALL IN, I sat down with veteran land developer Cody Bjugan for a raw and honest conversation about legacy. We dive deep into what it truly means to leave behind something meaningful, beyond just financial success. Cody vulnerably shares his journey from being financially successful but personally empty in his 20s, to discovering what really matters. He breaks down his powerful LEGACY framework - from Lasting Faith to Your health - and explains why money should be viewed as a tool rather than a measure of success. We explore the difference between temporary happiness and true fulfillment, discuss the importance of genuine relationships, and challenge the common misconceptions about what makes a legacy worth leaving. This conversation gets real about the responsibility we have to use our gifts until our last breath and what it means to create a legacy we can truly be proud of.We Meet: Cody Bjugan, Raw Land DevelopmentConnect:Connect with Rick: https://linktr.ee/mrrickjordanConnect with Cody: http://www.codybjugan.com/ Universal Rate & Review: https://lovethepodcast.com/allinwithrickjordanSubscribe & Review to ALL IN with Rick Jordan on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/RickJordanALLINAbout Cody: Cody Bjugan is a seasoned real estate developer who is a key player in development projects across the country.
