Although it isn't the Star Trek many long time fans were wishing for and there are still plenty of things to complain about (which we do quite a lot of), we believe both old and new fans alike should come away pleased. For this episode we look at the film whose trailer has received a record number of negative votes and an even more confounding number of people willing to write it off before ever seeing it. That's right, it is time to review the new Ghostbusters film. While it certainly isn't as bad as those trailers made it out to be the new film from Bridesmaids director Paul Fieg does ultimately pale in comparison to the original. But if you are surprised by that then don't even bother with this review and go watch the original again then get back to me.

For this episode of Now Showing we are looking at the latest blockbuster release from Marvel and Disney, Captain America: Civil War. With the film itself pulling out all the stops and bringing other superheroes in to join the good fight we to have recruited our very own comic book expert (although he prefers to be labeled more as an enthusiast) and lore master, Mr. James Blunt! While James had been a huge part of our previous and now defunct podcast this is his first venture with us on Bits and Flicks and as expected he knocks it out the park. Tune in and listen to use discuss all the ins and outs about what is being called the best superhero movie ever made.

Well, we are a bit late with this one but I think the wait was worth it. We had originally recorded this the day after The Force Awakens was released on dvd/blu-ray but some unforeseen circumstances have led to us posting it at this slightly later date. Regardless, I hope you are in the mood for a whole lot of Star Wars talk because that is exactly what you'll get with this new segment of our soon to be podcast empire entitled Now Showing. Normally this will be where you will come for recent theatrical releases where we will focus on one film only but considering we missed out on talking about this one when it was released last year we thought what the hell, why not.
