This is a particularly interesting one for me because, as I shared with you, whenever this particular full moon happens my life changes considerably. It's exactly square my natal moon and I think that this is something that should be considered in our assessment of our astrology chart. You can read my Substack article on it at this link. May's 6 descension energy comes after April's 5 energy of transcension. Five is the number of transition, not transformation. What we did in April comes to fruition or expansion in May. 6 is the number of descension, it's the first part of our 3 step ascension journey. With descension we get energy to do the work that needs to be done if we are going to fulfill our intention. This is the follow up from whatever dis-integrating or pivot work we did in April. And a full moon represents completion of what the new moon began. The April 17 new moon began that process, especially with its close conjunction to both Chiron and Eris. The May 1 full moon sets it all in motion, whether we are ready for it or not.  JOIN SHERI HORN HASAN FOR THIS WEEK'S PODCAST @ https://www.karmicevolution.com/astrologically-speaking which drops today May 1!CH-CH-CH-CH-CHANGES, TURN & FACE THE STRANGE CH-CH-CHANGES We know all Full Moons are when the Moon casts the light of the Sun directly back onto itself, thus revealing to the Sun its archetypal shadow side. In this case, today's May 1 Scorpio Full Moon, which occurs when the 11'21” Scorpio Moon exact opposes the 11'21” Taurus Sun at 10:23 am PT & 1:23 pm ET on May 1, we're being advised to let go of Taurus's archetypal shadows. And those revolve around our tendency to stay stuck in the past, as the Venus-ruled Taurus's shadow is known to be its stubborn resistance to change, & its attachment to its creature comforts—especially related to its value of physical & material resources.However, let's remember first that this Scorpio Full Moon is part of this month's longer lunar cycle which began with the Aries New Moon on April 17. And that at that time both the Moon & Sun were conjoined in Aries with wounded healer Chiron & dwarf planet of chaos, strife, & discord, Eris.This told us that our monthly mission was to plant seeds that lead to healing our wounded Aries energy. This podcast touches on how a wounded Mars-ruled Aries shadow is that it looks a lot like Libra archetypal energy: Indecisive &/or passive aggressive.This has clearly played out in American politics given the fact that by the first quarter lunar square of the Leo Moon to the Taurus Sun on April 23--just after the Venus/Uranus conjunction at 29'59” Taurus—Congress was still in limbo concerning funding the Department of Homeland Security (DHS.)No surprise then, that as we approached this Scorpio Full Moon, the House finally let go of its stubborn resistance & passed the Senate's March version of this funding bill—which excludes funding ICE & CBP—on April 30. It was the stubbornness of both sides of the aisle that left TSA, FEMA, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Secret Service, and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) unfunded for 76 days since February 14. Perhaps it's no coincidence that Saturn had reentered Mars-ruled Aries February 13, indicating the kind of “banging one's head against the wall” frustration felt by both Congressional Democrats & Republicans since. Now the GOP majority-ruled Congress still has to take up a separate reconciliation bill to pass any funding for ICE & CBP, which Democrats vehemently oppose without some major changes to those agencies. This is one example of the Scorpio Full Moon's waxing influence on moving the nation out of limbo and into some kind of motivated action--the wound highlighted at the Aries New Moon conjunct Chiron & Eris. However, we've still got a long way to go when it comes to the U.S./Israeli waged war on Iran, as Congress continues to waffle on passing the War Powers Resolution Act codifying President Trump's ability to wage war without Congressional consent. This Act, passed in 1973 as a direct result of then President Richard Nixon's U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War without congressional approval—& despite many Americans' opposition—illustrates the resistance of this Administration to adhering to both past law & the will of the people.SUPREME COURT GUTS VOTING RIGHTS ACT, RETURNING US TO VALUES OF THE PAST But first, America has an even bigger internal problem that's related to its elections. On April 29, the Supreme Court took a step backward leaving us stuck in values of the past (Taurus Sun) that have already been proven not only unfair but that also position the U.S. even more firmly against the natural evolutionary process (Scorpio Moon.)And the latter is exactly what this Scorpio Full Moon is trying to tell us: That resisting change—by returning us to the values of the past such as the days of Jim Crow—is directly anathema to adapting to society's more evolved values now.The negative side of Taurus doesn't like change because it values its creature comforts. This archetype sees no benefit in changing its current way of life—where the American population is majority white—to accept adapting to the evolutionary trajectory it's on now given the more recent changes in population statistics.This podcast explores how the U.S. Census Bureau—between 2010 & now—has changed its definition of “white” & thus relegated a shift in categorizing more of the Hispanic & Latino population as “non-white.”A large part of what this Scorpio Full Moon is trying to tell us here—given that the Supreme Court has now struck down any state electoral maps that insure that black & minority majority districts have fair representation—is that this impedes U.S. adaptation to Pluto-ruled Scorpio's desire for change.PLUTO'S STATION RETROGRADE MAY 6 DREDGES UP ESSENTIAL TRUTHS THAT PRESERVE THE INTEGRITY OF THE SOULPluto's retrograde station occurs at 5'31” Aquarius on May 6 when the god of the underworld will plumb the depths of our subconscious from then until he's once again direct at 3'04” Aquarius on October 15.Pluto transits make it impossible not to be honest, as Jungian astrologer Erin Sullivan explains in her book “Planetary Retrogrades, Traversing the Inner Landscape.” It's there she notes that “Plutonian veracity has little to do with day-to-day honesty, but deals only with essential truth, life & death matters, the kind of truth that preserves the integrity of the soul. “It is part of the contract with Pluto, it seems” Sullivan continues, “that if one faces oneself willingly & unflinchingly, the reward is an unshakable integrity.“When Pluto undergoes its retrograde cycles”—particularly if it repeats its contact with a natal planet or angle—“it dredges deeper & deeper into the resources of the unconscious, bringing to light the most secluded aspects of one's inner nature. “The process of loosening firmly entrenched & potentially annihilating characteristics in the depth of the psyche is active primarily during the retrograde period,” says Sullivan. It's in the “rest phase of the transit [that] we relax the hold on the repressive function & allow transformation to occur,” she explains. When Pluto's retrograde is part of a transit to a specific point in the natal chart, “poisonous aspects of oneself gather together silently & secretly, to emerge for elimination at the direct cycles,” she concludes.That makes this next six month period the perfect time to take Sullivan's advice as the U.S. undergoes the longer-term evolutionary changes inherent in the already triggered U.S. Pluto return.PLUTO RETROGRADE PLUS URANUS NOW IN GEMINI UNTIL 2033: RESISTANCE TO CHANGE IS FUTILEWhat's become clear now at this Scorpio Full Moon lunation, which is the apex of the Aries New Moon monthly cycle begun on April 17, is that there can be no indecisiveness when it comes to the evolutionary process of adaptation to long-term change.This podcast quotes astrologer Lynn Bell's OPA article titled “The Wake Up Call” which describes the longer term potential for change given Uranus's recent reentrance into Gemini from April 25 until 2033.Given the recent Supreme Court mandated shift in policy related to U.S. voting rights, it seems clear that what we need to wake up to now is how we must fight the overturning & denial of changes made by this nation since its inception. Uranus (change) in Gemini—which represents “siblings” & local neighborhood & community environment, among other things--has already brought sudden change to our local areas through the Trump Administration's harsh racist tactics designed to purge this nation of those it deems “foreigners.” Many of whom are our family members, neighbors, employees, & coworkers.This is on top of the fact that the Supreme Court already ruled that women are not equal to men in terms of bodily autonomy in its infamous Dobbs decision four years ago already since June 24, 2022. This thus returned us to the misogyny of the original Constitution's “all men”—but not all women—are created equal, in clear disregard for society's gladly accepted changed values since.Meanwhile, Pluto's shorter retrograde in Aquarius now until October asks us to explore the deeper more unconscious nature of topics like prejudice in this country—including racism against anyone who's not white, male, or Christian, at least the way things are going now…Together, they ask us to awaken to the sad truth that the U.S.—rather than evolving in a forward thinking, all inclusive, progressively humanitarian direction--prefers to keep in power those wedded to America's racist, misogynist, & gender discriminatory past. We're already seeing glimmers of the answer to questions like: “How's that been workin' for you so far?” through the current policies of an Administration that takes us to war for inexplicable reasons & that ignores its negative impact on the daily decline in health & well-being of its own citizens.Resistance to this may well awaken another Uranus in Gemini historical association, which is to that of war. As American states become increasingly gerrymandered now due to this week's Supreme Court decision--as is already happening in places like Louisiana & Florida--the pending political, ethical, & moral split in values will become increasingly obvious.The upshot is the message that it's now up to us. That was as the Sun exact conjoined Chiron in Aries, Mars in Aries sextiled Pluto in Aquarius, & Mercury in Aries conjoined Neptune in Aries.There is a cautionary tale here, however, which includes the fact that the Israeli ceasefire was announced not by its Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu but by Trump. While this is obviously still good news—especially since this announcement has already spurred reports of a fast rise of the world's financial markets—it was unclear if Trump's announcement was his way of coercing Israel into the ceasefire by announcing it to the world before details were actually completed.As per the New York Times: “A 10-day cease-fire went into effect at midnight on Friday morning in Lebanon. The truce pauses fighting between Israeli forces and the militant group Hezbollah, removing a major obstacle to peace talks between the United States and Iran.“Israeli and Lebanese officials had confirmed they would implement the truce, which was first announced by President Trump after a diplomatic push by the U.S. government earlier in the day. Hezbollah acknowledged the cease-fire in a pair of statements on Thursday, but did not directly address whether it would accept the truce, saying its actions would be “based on how developments unfold.”It appears by now that this truce is being honored, which is the reason behind Iran's announcement that it would open the Strait of Hormuz to all traffic, as this ceasefire was a major sticking point behind Iran's closure of the Strait. And it's refusal to reopen this globally important waterway.However, again according to the NY Times earlier today: “One of the main questions in Lebanon on Friday morning was if the cease-fire would hold. NNA, the state news agency, reported traffic jams on roads leading to southern Lebanon, from where many had fled because of Israeli evacuation orders and bombardment. Earlier, the Lebanese army said it had recorded several Israeli violations since the cease-fire went into effect at midnight. The Israeli military did not immediately respond to a request for comment.”WILL THIS CHANGE IN VALUES LAST?The question is whether, by the time the Sun enters Venus-ruled Taurus April 19, just after Mars conjoins Saturn in Aries, this slowdown in hostilities will hold. With Mercury headed for a conjunction to both Saturn & Neptune on April 20, it's hard to tell…The Venus/Uranus conjunction in Taurus on April 23 will occur just before the first quarter crisis in action square of the Leo Moon to the Taurus Sun that day, after which Venus enters Mercury-ruled Gemini late on the 23rd or early the 24th, depending on your time zone…And that will bring us to the Sun's fixed square to Pluto April 25, along with Uranus's reentrance into Mercury-ruled Gemini that day as well for the long term. So, the question by then will be whether or not softer rhetoric prevails as peaceful ceasefire negotiations between warring factions continue. In other words, will the beginning of this Aries New Moon cycle help heal past rifts based on a new set of changed values, or will the lack of clear details sabotage future talks? It's well known that Mars-ruled Aries energy's high side is motivation, ambition, & assertion. So are we birthing a new monthly lunar cycle that, in conjunction with the Sun's movement into Venus-ruled Taurus, which craves serenity. Hola New Paradigmer!While the world is in contraction, My life is under construction, As I'm building a solid foundation, To prepare for my future expansion! ☉Yeah, I changed the mantra a bit after I filmed.....  Anyway, let's get a little techie here for you astro-buffs!  Stelliums are a fascinating study in astrology all by themselves.  They occur when three or more planets are in the same sign/house within a 9 degree orb (distance between).  With that definition we will be having an "Aries Stellium" pretty much until Mars leaves Aries for Taurus May 19th.  That's a lot of Cardinal Fire and we'll be seeing it!With a stellium it's important to note the order of the planets, which with these transits, is changing.  First, Mars enters Aries Thursday and hits Neptune, then Saturn, then Eris and finally Chiron before exiting.  Hence, we can interpret that Mars will shoot for the Moon (so to speak) with some very unrealistic expectations as it joins with dreamy, idealistic Neptune.  Then it will move on and hit Saturn April 18th and get really pissed off as Saturn will block, stop, inhibit, and try to correct his ways.  He'll then march on and hit Eris May 12th and the two of them will raise holy hell together.  Finally, on May 16th he'll hit Chiron for a healing crisis that could well involve hemorrhaging.  This foretells a difficult time ahead.  Next, enter Mercury Tuesday for a slightly different journey.  Mercury, the negotiator will hit Neptune first and express optimistic (even if not true) hopes but as it approaches Saturn on the 19th, Mars will be there for a 7 degree stellium all its own.  If Mars doesn't kill negotiations Saturn will.  Next comes the Moon which rules the public as well as the general feeling atmosphere.  She'll hit Mercury first next Wednesday, then Neptune, Mars, and Saturn within hours before passing the Sun for a New Moon (Whew!).  This brings me to the point I want to make, that from the 3/4 Moon this Thursday all the way through to the New Moon on the 17th everything will be blowing up, falling apart, and chaos will reign as she signals some final endings prior to the new beginning.  And even the new beginning, like many births, may well be painful and bloody with the concentration of energy remaining in Aries.However, THAT IS THE WORLD PICTURE THAT WE DON'T NEED TO BUY INTO, FOLLOW, STRESS ABOUT, AND FEAR.  Our job during all of this is to Saturnly keep our composure, discipline ourselves, our instincts, our emotions, and our actions to respond maturely rather than react, and go about our business, as warriors that will guard, protect, and proceed in spite of hostile opposition, oppression, news, or fear.  This is a great initiation and we will all be tested to our core.  We can do this!  Advanced initiates will continue to love, laugh, create, and build, perhaps with greater determination then before.  May the force be with you!This week's song is "Give Me Love":  https://youtu.be/EjHLxTGn--s?si=X2oC8HyWUOg-7y9cWanna simplify?  Check out Home Farm and tell em Kaypacha sent ya!  https://www.homefarmcostarica.com/Wanna retreat?  Check out Holos and tell them Kaypacha sent ya!  https://holos.global/So Much Love,Kaypacha2 FOR 1 SPRING READING SPECIAL! Nothing screams so loudly at us now than the situation in the Gulf And nothing could be more obvious—to those who choose to pay attention—than that we are insisting on heading down the wrong path, at least here in America if not elsewhere.The current Gulf war, the cause of our immediate international economic woes—incited in part by America's current leader's obsession with oil & gas uber alles, at the expense of developing alternative power sources such as solar & wind—has thus far proven fateful indeed.So, is it possible that, given the economic situation the world currently finds itself in, including the downturn in the world's financial markets, that Venus in Aries is asking us now to finally see the light? And that the past betrayal of partners causes wariness & distrust, so that when we then ask those same partners to help rescue us, they don't exactly come running… VENUS IN ARIES: SEND MONEY, GUNS, & LAWYERSAs the world struggles to absorb & more consciously understand this bigger picture, its seems clear that the lack of human consciousness to mankind's current plight mistakes fighting as the way out, when nothing could be further from the truth.As reported in the Washington Post on March 17: “Trump fumes at NATO for refusing to help secure the Strait of Hormuz, and embraces going it alone…President Donald Trump says NATO and other allies have rejected his calls to help secure the Strait of Hormuz… “Trump's indignant response to allies' refusal to get involved in the war underscored that the conflict — now in its third week and causing reverberations across the global economy — is one the international community is looking to the U.S. leader to sort out himself after he launched it without consultation.“You would have thought they would have said, ‘We'd love to send a couple of minesweepers.' That's not a big deal,” Trump said. “It doesn't cost very much money. But they didn't do that.”While the question of economic affordability—meaning the ability of everyone on earth to not only survive, but to thrive—means little to those hellbent on destruction as a means of retribution, the world's people continue to suffer. And Mother Earth continue to weep…SUN ENTERS ARIES AT SPRING EQUINOX MARCH 20: ACTIONS RELATED TO FANTASY OR REALITY?The recent Pisces New Moon asked us to plant seeds that can grow into greater empathy for the plight of the world & all of its humans now. It's a “there but for the grace of God, go I” energy. One that reinforces for us that no man is an island, & that "each man's joy is joy to me, while each man's grief is my own," as the song goes. That this month's lunar cycle's message follows that of last month's Aquarius New Moon solar eclipse--which asked us to plant humanitarian forward thinking progressive energies that can save our planet from the kind of destruction we're seeing now--might be more obvious now in hindsight. In short, we were asked to leave behind any fixed ideological notions that take us backward instead of forward, & that seek the benefit the few over the many.The Sun's entrance now into Aries heralds the spring equinox in the northern & western hemiphere & foretells action. However, whether that action will be based on continued rejection of reality as the Sun conjoins Neptune on March 22 or acceptance of responsibility for what is real now by the time the Sun conjoins Saturn on March 25, remains to be seen.By the time we reach the first quarter “crisis in action” phase of this month's lunar cycle with the cardinal square of the Cancer Moon to the Aries Sun March 25--as we wax toward the conjunction of Venus to wounded healer Chiron in Aries March 26--the question becomes whether or not the plight of humans worldwide will be not only realistically recognized but dealt with…REMEMBER: THE BIGGER PICTURE REMINDS US TO KEEP THE FAITHThat all of this is occurring under the backdrop of the longer astrological cycles currently in play should by now be obvious. For example: The realignment of the international order under the waxing Saturn/Pluto cycle, the attacks on our seas & their bountiful resources under the new Saturn/Neptune cycle, & the repercussions for democracy worldwide under the already triggered U.S. Pluto return, all play a part right now.And then there's the waxing Jupiter/Saturn cycle, which traditionally symbolically foretells the death of the old & its replacement by the new. It's this latter cycle that might give us the most hope right now.Though hope at this spring equinox may be sorely lacking as farmers' seasonal planting may be forestalled by the deprivation of petroleum derived products such as fertilizer, again we know it's a call for change. We might note here, too, that Ceres, the dwarf planet representative of fertilization of crops, is squaring Pluto now, potentially bringing transformation to this process by slowing it down. But Ceres represents faith. And faith is most prevalent when we're properly fed & don't have to spend restless nights worrying about from where our next meal will come.We might note now, too, the May 19 conjunction in Aries of Chiron & Eris, the goddess of discord, chaos, & strife who, in Greek mythology instigated the Trojan War.
