(This episode was originally released in August 2015) I'll be the first to admit I'm not very hip to the local comedy scene, but way back in 2015, [we did an episode](http://witchpolice.com/e/wr141-oddblock-comedy-festival-354033ed1f98a2L/) about the then-new Oddblock Comedy Festival. One of the guests on that episode was comedian John B. Duff. You may have heard that John passed away from cancer recently, so I'm re-releasing this episode. I barely knew him, but he was a really funny guy, and – based on all the tributes I've been seeing on social media over the past few days – clearly a huge figure in the local community. Please note this is in the old format of the show, and the audio quality is godawful, but I think it's important to re-release episodes when guests pass (which is happening entirely too often lately). I hope you enjoy this episode despite its (many) technical flaws. Fuck cancer. RIP Mr. Duff.

Nick Nemeroff is a Montreal comic who has been a mainstay in the Toronto comedy scene for the past few years, winning Best Newcomer and Best Breakout Comic at the 2017 and 2018 I Heart Joke Awards. His comedy has been described as "aggressively deadpan" -- and if you're wondering what that means, just watch his set from last fall on Conan. It's a joy. After visiting Winnipeg for the Oddblock Comedy Festival a couple years ago, Nick is making his first appearance at the Winnipeg Comedy Festival this weekend. Paul Little chatted with him ahead of his visit, and they spoke about his "Square Pegs" gala taping, his experience on Conan, and what's in store now that he's made the move to Los Angeles.

Recorded in the spacious lobby of the **[Park Theatre](http://oddblock.ca/the-park-theatre/)** (hence the mild echo), the gang discusses the local comedy scene, 'making it' as a comedian, "gut" songs and more! Along the way, Sam demonstrates his complete ignorance about the 'burggoinging' (or something) Winnipeg comedy scene in particular and stand-up in general. We all learn a thing or two.
