Test steps out with Trish and asks Mick Foley to wait. November 28, 1999, the night Triple H took the money, the power, and Stephanie, Test sat back. The smile on his face when those cops came. He made the call. Tommy Blacha and Rob Pasbani recap the September 4, 2000 Labor Day edition of WWF Monday Night Raw, live from the Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky, airing at 11pm due to the US Open on USA Network.Foley opens the show with a full investigation, narrowing the spousal abuse complaint down to 373 suspects, then bringing out Stephanie, Angle, Chyna, and Eddie one by one. The Test reveal lands as clever soap opera with real nostalgic stakes. Triple H then immediately Pedigrees both Test and Albert in the same night and leaves them on the mat.In the IC title triple threat, Angle knocks Chyna out cold with the belt. Eddie dropkicks Angle out, turns around, and finds Mamacita laid out. He chooses her over Angle. They fall together in a heap, the referee counts three, and Eddie Guerrero is the new Intercontinental Champion. The camera pans to catch a devious grin on his face while Chyna cannot see it, a reveal Tommy and Rob say undercuts everything the pairing has built.Other major discussion points include:Christian pins The Rock with a Conchairto to close the show while Kane joins JR on commentary and delivers emo monologues about being dragged from the gutter and pain becoming your friendThe Dudleys beat the APA and Kaientai in a tables match, prompting Tommy to push for consistent rules: one member through the table ends the match, and anything requiring both should have its own nameRight to Censor kidnaps Val Venus after his promo defending personal freedom, and Lawler's RC Cola live read accidentally plays over Road Dogg's entrance promoTommy opens the episode comparing WWF's late-2000 slide to the current moment in WWE, using a JP Morgan stock analysis and a Fightful report about Netflix executive pressure on the 2025 creative teamPlease support the show, and join our brand new Patreon, featuring watch-alongs for classic matches. Triple H and Stephanie are finally reconciling backstage when there's a knock on the door. It's the police, responding to a spousal abuse complaint. Triple H gets put in the car. Mick Foley runs up asking what about his main event. Tommy Blacha and Rob Pasbani recap the August 31, 2000 edition of WWF SmackDown, live from the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The show opens with Stephanie explaining her whereabouts since SummerSlam, but Angle immediately counters with footage of Chyna and Triple H's hug on Raw, then footage of Chyna tending to Triple H after their match. He accuses Triple H of domestic violence, Chyna comes to the ring to defend herself, and Angle gives her the Angle Slam. Tommy and Rob call it A+ soap opera from start to finish. With Triple H in a police car, the main event becomes Eddie vs Angle one-on-one, Chyna in Eddie's corner and Stephanie forced into Angle's. Angle cheats to win using the IC title belt. Chyna beats up Angle post-match, turns to face Stephanie, who tries to talk her way out. PWTorch editor Wade Keller was joined by Dennis Kline and Jerud Buhagiar (JB) to review AEW Dynamite with chat, caller, and email interactions throughout. They start with analysis of the Will Ospreay-Kenny Omega-Jon Moxley tensions and examine whether it's a derivative overdone trope to sneakily next-level clever compared to most "friendly-fire fallout" storylines (like CM Punk and Cody Rhodes this past weekend). Also, thoughts on Mick Foley's segment with Thekla and Willow Nightingale and why we're rooting for Willow and how this was a step in the right direction. Also, lots of talk about AEW Redemption (or is it Retribution? Or Regurgitation?)... and why it's a sleeper event with some real potential for in-ring excellence and some key storyline developments even with a B-show feel otherwise. Some digs at John Cena and Sting that somehow tied into Dynamite, along with other topics from segments on Dynamite. Plus, Omega brings an early 1980s well know commercial jingle into his opening promo!Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/wade-keller-pro-wrestling-post-shows--3275545/support.

Turnbuckle Tavern is powered by G FUEL and Official Dick Lazer. Use code TAVERN for 20% off at GFUEL.com and DickLazers.com. Episode 194 is headlined by the return of Saturday Night's Main Event to Madison Square Garden, CM Punk's candid comments about WWE's backstage culture, the surprise return of Baron Corbin, and the official start of NJPW's G1 Climax 36 as one of wrestling's biggest weeks of the summer unfolds. We begin in WWE, where CM Punk sat down with Stephanie McMahon for one of his most revealing interviews since becoming Undisputed WWE Champion. Punk discusses why he believes WWE needs to do a better job providing constructive feedback to its talent, why too many wrestlers care more about social media reactions than live crowd responses, and why both performers and producers share responsibility for developing the next generation. We also discuss Punk's praise for WWE's current leadership, why he hopes future wrestlers work fewer dates while making more money than previous generations, and his emotional reflections on winning the Undisputed WWE Championship in his hometown of Chicago. Plus, Punk explains why watching John Cena and AJ Styles retire has motivated him to continue wrestling at the highest level as he prepares for SummerSlam. We also preview Saturday Night's Main Event XLV, as WWE brings one of its most historic television franchises back to Madison Square Garden for the first time since 2007. We look at the show's rich history dating back to 1985, how it became one of the defining programs of wrestling's boom period, and why WWE continues embracing its classic presentation today. We also preview CM Punk and Cody Rhodes taking on Gunther and Sami Zayn, Bayley facing Lyra Valkyria, Danhausen battling JD McDonagh in a No Disqualification Match, the Bella Twins defending the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship, and Roman Reigns' appearance alongside 2026 NBA Champion Jalen Brunson at The World's Most Famous Arena. We also discuss the surprise return of Baron Corbin, who made his first WWE television appearance since his release at the end of 2024 by attacking Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams on SmackDown. Corbin laid out both men with End of Days before holding the United States Championship high above his head, immediately establishing himself as a new challenger. We also examine Corbin's run on the independent scene as Bishop Dyer, his MLW Tag Team Championship reign alongside Donovan Dijak, and his brief AEW appearance earlier this year before returning to WWE. Roman Reigns also had plenty to say following Monday's heated contract signing with Seth Rollins. After Rollins stood tall by delivering a Stomp on Raw, Reigns fired back on social media, claiming every major accomplishment of Rollins' career happened because of him while warning that The Bloodline could "end" him for the disrespect. We discuss the latest chapter in one of WWE's greatest rivalries and what it means heading into their World Heavyweight Championship match at SummerSlam. We also discuss the latest speculation surrounding Bayley's WWE future after Mercedes Moné once again fueled rumors with another social media tease. Following Bayley's Raw confrontation with Lyra Valkyria, Moné posted an hourglass GIF just weeks after sharing a WrestleDream graphic featuring herself against Bayley under her real name, Davina Rose. We discuss why fans continue to speculate about Bayley's future while emphasizing that there is currently no confirmation she is leaving WWE or signing with AEW. Over in AEW, one of the biggest stories isn't happening inside the ring but in the courtroom. Paramount Skydance's proposed $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery is facing a major legal challenge after a coalition of 12 state attorneys general filed a federal antitrust lawsuit seeking to block the merger. Led by California Attorney General Rob Bonta, the states argue the deal would combine two of Hollywood's five largest studios, reducing competition while leading to higher prices, fewer theatrical releases, and less content. Paramount maintains the merger is pro-competitive, expects to receive final European Union approval on July 22, and is still targeting a September closing despite the lawsuit. We discuss why the case could have long-term implications for AEW, whose multi-year media rights agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery includes Dynamite on TBS, Collision on TNT, and streaming on Max. While nothing changes for AEW today and its current television deal remains fully intact, the lawsuit creates uncertainty surrounding the future ownership of AEW's broadcast partner and what that could mean whenever the company's next media rights negotiations begin. Over in AEW, the company heads to Boston riding significant momentum after Beach Break delivered its largest television audience in years. We break down Wrestlenomics reporting that Beach Break averaged 773,000 viewers, up 22 percent from the previous week while finishing No. 4 on cable in the key demographic. We also discuss Fightful Select's report that AEW officials were thrilled with both the television numbers and Kenny Omega versus MJF, along with confirmation that the match's memorable table spot paid tribute to Mick Foley's iconic Mankind bump. Looking ahead to Dynamite, Kenny Omega celebrates becoming a two-time AEW World Champion as AEW continues building toward Redemption later this month, while WrestleTix reports Boston ticket sales have climbed to 2,628 distributed. We also discuss Hangman Page's emotional return to AEW Collision after nearly four months away. Reflecting on his inability to ever challenge for the AEW World Championship again following his Revolution loss to MJF, Page made it clear he's turning his attention toward new goals, teasing future pursuits of Kevin Knight's TNT Championship and Kyle Fletcher's International Championship as he begins the next chapter of his AEW career. From there, we head to New Japan Pro-Wrestling, where G1 Climax 36 is officially underway. We recap opening night from Chicago as IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Yota Tsuji defeated Konosuke Takeshita in the main event to earn his first two tournament points alongside Jake Lee, Yuto-Ice, Hirooki Goto, Ryohei Oiwa, Aaron Wolf, OSKAR, Zack Sabre Jr., and Callum Newman. We discuss the early standings, Gabe Kidd's visa-related absence, the history and prestige of the G1 Climax, and preview another loaded weekend of tournament action. Plus, we preview the week ahead across professional wrestling, including AEW Dynamite featuring Kenny Omega's World Championship Celebration, NXT, AAA on FOX, AEW Collision, TNA Impact, the opening week of G1 Climax 36, Saturday Night's Main Event from Madison Square Garden, and everything else to watch across WWE, AEW, NJPW, TNA, AAA, and the NWA. Episode 239 of the AEW-some Pod is up. Diana Prince (The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs, Halloween Ends), Johnny Taylor (The Hard Times, Stand-Up! Records, Tubi), and Gringo Fantastico (Troma's Fantastico Disasterpiece Theater) head to the beach for Dynamite's Beach Break, where Kenny Omega beat MJF to become AEW World Champion in a 24-minute war that ended with Omega kicking out of a belt shot at one and MJF making a face like he saw a ghost. Kyle Fletcher beat Takeshita for the International Title and got knighted by Mick Foley, back on TBS for the first time in 32 years. Willow Nightingale returned and won a trip to Revolution. Ciampa beat Jericho with a bucket of sand and then pulled out a power drill, because it was a beach show and why not. Andrade said “how you know” again. And Ospreay ran out to save Omega, which for a guy hanging around the Death Riders is either heroic or the exact opposite. Rate, review, and subscribe, or we'll paint your dog on Mick Foley's shoe. They started with analysis of the Kenny Omega's AEW Title win over MJF. Did Omega show he is still the Best Bout Machine? Did Will Ospreay's involvement undercut Omega's win at all? Should AEW have booked MJF vs. Ospreay at Wembley instead? Other topics included the Kyle Fletcher clean win over Konosuke Takeshita, the cringy campy Brawling Birds video and why it's just so out of place in AEW, Mick Foley's segment, Chris Jericho vs. Tommaso Ciampa, and more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/wade-keller-pro-wrestling-post-shows--3275545/support.

Lita wins the Women's Championship from Stephanie McMahon with The Rock as special guest referee in a main event! Tommy Blacha calls one of the greatest convoluted booked gaga matches of the Attitude Era. Tommy Blacha and Rob Pasbani break down the August 21, 2000 edition of WWF Monday Night Raw, live from the Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisiana, six days before SummerSlam 2000.The show opens with The Rock cutting a Louisiana-specific promo before Mick Foley gives him the night off and announces two title matches for the evening: Shane McMahon vs. Steve Blackman for the Hardcore Championship and Stephanie's Women's Championship defense against Lita, with The Rock serving as special guest referee. In the chaotic main event, Triple H and Kurt Angle accompany Stephanie to ringside with the Hardy Boys in Lita's corner. At the decisive moment, Angle accidentally nails Triple H with a belt while trying to interfere, The Rock delivers a Rock Bottom to Angle, and Lita hits a moonsault on Stephanie to win the Women's Championship.Earlier in the night, Shane McMahon sneaks a kendo stick into the Hardcore title match and cracks Steve Blackman across the skull to steal the championship, only for Foley to immediately book him into a rematch at SummerSlam. In their tag match, Triple H pins Farooq for the win but conspicuously hangs back while Bradshaw drops Kurt Angle with a Clothesline from Hell, planting seeds of tension between the two allies heading into Sunday.Other major discussion points include:- Mick Foley adds a wrinkle to the IC title picture: if Eddie Guerrero or Chyna pins Val Venis or Trish Stratus in their tag match, they become the new Intercontinental Champion- Kane destroys Rikishi with three vicious chair shots before Right to Censor prevents Too Cool from making the save- Jerry Lawler hides behind a pile of equipment backstage and drops it on an unsuspecting Taz to get his revenge before sliding back out to commentary- Tommy reads from both the Wrestling Observer and the Pro Wrestling Torch on why Big Show was sent home, covering conditioning concerns, attitude, and a herniated disc- Kurt Angle tells Stephanie he's thinking of leaving the McMahon family; Stephanie begs him to stay in a scene Tommy credits to writer Brian Gewirtz- Steve Austin has been medically cleared and is expected back imminently---Just announced! Mick Foley turns the McMahon family against itself with a Survivor-style vote to decide who faces The Rock. Tommy Blacha and Rob Pasbani break down the August 17, 2000 episode of WWF SmackDown, live from the Worcester Centrum in Worcester, Massachusetts, with SummerSlam just two weeks away.Shane, Triple H, Stephanie, and Kurt Angle open the show by declaring themselves a united family, but Foley quickly detonates it by replaying the footage of Kurt kissing Stephanie's cheek from Raw. Rather than pick The Rock's opponent himself, Foley forces the McMahon camp to vote among themselves — with Shane volunteering first before the group ultimately settles on Triple H. Angle storms off in a fury, telling Stephanie he feels voted off the island.Triple H gets the win in the main event only after Kurt Angle runs down with a chair and helps him double-team The Rock, giving The Rock his second pinfall loss in two shows heading into SummerSlam. Elsewhere, Trish Stratus grabs a water pitcher from the announcer's table and smashes it over Chyna's head during the Eddie Guerrero vs. Val Venis Intercontinental Championship match, setting up Trish and Val vs. Chyna and Eddie at SummerSlam.Other major discussion points include:- Rikishi gives Terri the Stink Face after The Cat recruits him as her partner in a mixed tag match against Perry Saturn and Terri, featuring a monkey flip in high heeled boots- Edge and Christian redefine TLC as Totally Lacking Coolness and teach Worcester the word hanosity, before losing to Jeff Hardy and D-Von Dudley in a match that sows dissension between the Hardys and the Dudleys- Chris Benoit defeats Steve Blackman in a Hardcore Championship match with Chris Jericho on commentary, leading to a candid discussion about how this footage ages given what Benoit would later do- Tommy Blacha explains why Kane was plugged into the Undertaker feud after Big Show was sent to OVW because management grew unhappy with him- Kane destroys X-Pac and Road Dogg, takes the mic, and announces he is a monster before brawling with Undertaker- Big Bossman refers to Kaientai as his Chinese buddies and then oriental buddies as they try to correct him, with Crash Holly and the APA picking up the win- A recap of Sunday Night Heat, including Dean Malenko retaining the Light Heavyweight Championship, a Jericho promo officially announcing his two-out-of-three falls match with Benoit at SummerSlam, Kurt Angle defeating Matt Hardy, and Stephanie McMahon attacking Lita to set up their Raw Women's Championship match---Just announced! On this episode of 83 Weeks, Eric Bischoff and host Conrad Thompson are pulling no punches as they tackle some of the most talked about topics in wrestling today. Eric breaks down what he believes is the biggest question the Most Valuable Promotion (MVP) should be asking right now "what's next?" Eric also shares his genuine shock at seeing Brock Lesnar back on WWE programming, and what that surprise return could mean for the business moving forward. From there, the discussion takes a serious turn as Bischoff weighs in on the difference between accusations and outcomes, reminding listeners that a charge is not the same as a conviction. The hits keep coming as Eric offers a plea to AEW's Mick Foley to stay out of the ring, citing the physical toll of his legendary career. And in a bold prediction, Bischoff looks at the cult popularity of Danhausen and suggests he could reach merchandise heights comparable to none other than Stone Cold Steve Austin.
