In true 2020 fashion, the election insisted on being an ordeal, and it will of course continue to challenge our collective patience, sensemaking, compassion, and resilience for weeks (perhaps even months) to come.  On Tuesday November 8, 2016 Diane, Jeff, and Terry gathered in Boulder to celebrate Hillary Clinton’s victory together (Ha ha!). The next day they recorded “The Trump Era: Day 1: Three integrally-informed friends attempt to face reality” on his Daily Evolver podcast.  In this week’s episode, almost exactly 4 years later, they reunite, react, reflect and take to heart the implications of the 2020 election results, including Trump’s unprecedented but unsurprising response — from three diverse integrally-informed perspectives.  Diane Musho Hamilton is an award-winning professional mediator and a compassionate, funny, dazzling facilitator. She is a Zen lineage holder, a trainer of Integral Facilitation, and the Executive Director of Two Arrows Zen in Utah. Diane has authored three books: Everything Is Workable, The Zen of You and Me, and her new book, co-authored with Gabriel Menegale Wilson and Kimberly Myosai Loh, Compassionate Conversations. Jeff Salzman is the creator and host of The Daily Evolver podcast, which looks at current events in politics and culture through the lens of integral theory. Jeff helmed Integral Institute Seminars from 2004-2007, where he, Diane, and Terry worked closely with Ken Wilber to co-create Integral Life Practice. SharQ Talk Sessions #29 has been live recorded at the ECI Cultuurfabriek Roermond. On Tuesday November 13th we had organized the third SharQ Sessions Live. With this new element of a bigger concept the last few months we already have put up some shows. Next to SharQ Talk and Live in Limburg it's the third new element of MCSharQ.nl For this third SharQ Sessions Live we invited Charlie Hole (UK) for a show in the ECI Cultuurfabriek Roermond. He travelled thru Holland a couple of times now but never came over to the south. So it was time for him to get in front of a southern crowd. Charlie is a sing and songwriter from Bournemouth (UK) has released a few singles already, played amazing shows in different Sofar Sounds cities and is ready for 2019 to threat him right with a new album coming up. Already kickin'-ass for over eleven years and he is only 25 now! His talent has to be heard so if you were at the show you could, if you weren't don't worry, soon there will be two sessions videos online so keep an eye out for them! SharQ Sessions Live is all about the artist, an artist that didn't play in Limburg before or artist from the province Limburg that most of the time don't play outside their own region. The goal is to get an interaction started so artist will preform again in different locations. On Tuesday November 1, Loomis Chaffee hosted a Naturalization Ceremony for 39 new American citizens as part of and all-school convocation hosted by the Norton Family Center for the Common Good. A special session of the U.S. District Court was convened in the Olcott Center for the occasion, with U.S. District Court Judge Alfred Covello Loomis Chaffee ’50 presiding. The 39 candidates for citizenship representing 22 countries were awarded certificates of citizenship. As each individual received his or her certificate, the crowd of students, faculty, staff, and invited guests erupted in cheers. Loomis is only the second high school in Connecticut history to host a Naturalization Ceremony, according to Molly Pond, history teacher and associate director of the Norton Center, and in her opening statement, she said hosting the event fit the school’s mission to advance the development of spirit, mind, and body in students from diverse cultural backgrounds, and to inspire in them a commitment to the best self and the common good. Today’s podcast features an interview with Molly and Eric LaForest, Director of the Norton Center. This is a two part podcast. Part one is this interview.  Part two will be the ceremony in its entirety, including keynote speaker Richard Wright, Orvil Dryfoos Professor of Public Affairs and geography professor at Dartmouth college, who specializes in the study of immigrant populations and migration and who is himself a naturalized U.S. citizen. Mr Wright is also married to our Head of School, Sheila Culbert, also a naturalized citizen.

On Tuesday November 2, 2015 Ohio voters have the chance to end the prohibition of cannabis (Marijuana) and legalize for the ability for anyone 21 and up to grow up to four flowering plants, purchase cannabis, consume cannabis, start small businesses for the manufacture of and sale of products for the use of cannabis. 1159 shops will be allowed to open, a $24M International Cannabinoid Research Facility is seeking a home in Ohio to advance the science and research because of Ohio voting to amend their constitution. This ballot amendment is referred to as Issue 3. Sponsored by ResponsibleOhio it was put into motion be a group of 50 investors to open 10 competing grow facilities for the first four years of the change in law. These ten facilities would compete to supply enough cannabis for all 1159 shops. These facilities will sublease to small growers in Ohio, allowing for boutique grows. Ohio voters and longtime grassroots supporters of cannabis are opposed to this oligopoly and see it as a free market issue, voting to choose to continue prohibition and the black market, rather than have government regulations stop the ability for anyone wanting to start their own grow facility like Colorado currently has. This very controversial subject has divided many, waiting for the day they can see prohibition end AND have a free and open market. Many compare it to growing tomatoes, but tomatoes were never a schedule 1 controlled substance that will still be banned federally after the vote for or against Issue 3. This podcast was recorded at Keller Law Offices on Thursday October 29th at the weekly Greenfight meeting. We featured many different people at this meeting, which were pro Issue 3. I had my friend and fellow podcrafter Drew Sample of the Sample Hour podcast, who is opposed to Issue 3 to submit questions for the podcast. The Podcast itself is about and 1 hour 30 minutes. The rest is many different sound clips pulled from Youtube pertaining to the views of cannabis during the height of the â??War on Drugsâ?? during the Reagan era to current Democratic Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders. I am supporting Issue 3 but understand why you would not be. In my scales of justice, prohibition is a bigger threat to freedom and a bigger moral issue than oligopoly.
