On this episode of Grilling JR, Jim Ross and Conrad Thompson fire up the time machine and take you back to one of the most important nights in wrestling history WrestleMania XIII from March 23, 1997 at the Rosemont Horizon in Chicago, Illinois! JR relives the iconic and industry changing double-turn between Bret "Hitman" Hart and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, breaking down why this moment redefined both men's careers and helped usher in a new era of professional wrestling. From Austin's gutsy, blood soaked performance to Bret's transformation into a bitter anti-hero, JR gives you a front-row seat to the magic as only he can. The guys also dig into the ripple effects of Shawn Michaels "losing his smile", the arrival and impact of Chyna, and the introduction of Ken Shamrock as a special referee. Plus, JR shares his thoughts on Sid's WWF Championship win over Bret, the road to Undertaker vs. Sid in the main event, and how all of it fit into the rapidly changing landscape of the business including the growing influence of ECW. Behind the scenes insight, unforgettable moments, and JR's signature storytelling make this a must-listen deep dive into a WrestleMania that changed everything. Kris and David are back as we discuss the week that was February 13-19, 1999, a show that was requested by Tim Ostrander by dropping $25 on our Patreon page: Topics of discussion include:Ric Flair being left in the farmlands of Florida being the main story of what was was, up to that point in time, the worst episode of WCW Monday Nitro in it's history. Also on Nitro, we get Bret Hart vs. then “Mad TV” star Will Sasso in a shockingly cromulent match, Hulk Hogan vs. Roddy Piper in a HORRIBLE match, Torrie Wilson as “Samantha" seducing an off-camera David Flair, and a lot more lunacy.Lots of finger pointing afterwards among the decision makers of WCW on why their new concept of Nitro is failing so horribly.Bill Goldberg reluctantly challenges "Stone Cold" Steve Austin on the Tonight Show.AJPW runs their first show after the death of Giant Baba at Korakuen Hall.Masa Saito's retirement ceremony at Budokan Hall takes place on Valentine's Day in NJPW.Antonio Inoki negotiates for Naoya Ogawa to win the NWA World Heavyweight Title.Brazo de Plata allegedly roughs up a kid who was bullying his son…the future Psycho Clown.Drama with Shane Douglas and ECW keeps building up.-Public Enemy leaves ECW high and dry on bad terms.Jerry Lawler shows what a "Southern Gentleman" is like to Shawn Stasiak's "sister" on Memphis Power Pro TV.A very lackluster Saturday Night Raw at Skydome, which then leads to the St. Valentine Day's Masscare PPV the next night, featuring the debut of Paul Wight coming through the ring and throwing Steve Austin through the cage.Vince McMahon being featured on Dateline NBC while the PPV is on the air and all the wackiness surrounding that.Raw after the PPV, featuring Sable officially turning heel in a show that absolutely destroyed Nitro in the ratings. This is just the tip of the iceberg as there is so much more on this show, so you don't want to miss it!!Timestamps:0:00:00 WWF1:34:33 Int'l: 1:57:03 Classic Commercial Break2:01:44 Halftime2:50:58 Other USA: 3:24:25 WCWTo support the show and get access to exclusive rewards like special members-only monthly themed shows, go to our Patreon page at Patreon.com/BetweenTheSheets and become an ongoing Patron. With This Ring #77: No Way Out 2001 Cindy and Ryan have rumbled onto the road to WrestleMania, but first, No Way Out 2001! One of the all-time well regarded B-shows. We look at the main event scene and what we will get as we continue towards WrestleMania. Topics include: We look at even more between Vince/Trish and Stephanie leading to a very surprising match at the PPV. Big Show coming back to be put right back in the hardcore division. A highly athletic Intercontinental Title forgotten classic (because of one of the competitors.) We go into the long and winding Triple H/Stone Cold rivalry and their classic Three Stages of Hell match. We look at the King feuding with the RTC and wanting to see the Kat naked…and how this would soon lead to the King leaving, Paul Heyman showing up on Raw and basically confirming ECW is dead. Another classic in Rock/Kurt Angle, even with a pointless Big Show appearance, The slow build to Austin/Rock, although the confusing point where they decided to put in Debra. Vince McMahon embarrassing Trish on numerous shows, including the infamous bark like a dog segment and Paul Heyman's classic line during that segment. Enjoy the show!

Episode 185 of Kliq This is all about old school heat, and it starts in the most Kliq way possible: with Sean proudly nerding out over fountain pens while Kev immediately mistakes it for a vape. From there, the conversation takes a sharp left turn into classic road-story insanity when Nash tells an unbelievable Macho Man Randy Savage private jet rib that somehow still has me laughing and wincing at the same time. Then the show digs into the real world as Kev and Sean talk trade, China's surplus, and the kind of "nobody thinks this through" political decision-making that drives normal people insane. That energy carries into a longer, blunt discussion about immigration enforcement, due process, transparency, and why it feels like the rules change depending on who's in power. It's a heavy topic, but it's one of those segments where they actually talk like human beings instead of just picking a team and screaming. After that, things lighten up with listener questions and absolute Kliq staples, including Nash breaking down his ridiculously specific "clean" Waffle House order, how he signs Topps cards like it's an assembly line, and why BlueChew apparently has a fan club. If you're new here, this is the perfect example of how this show can go from aviation death spirals to protein macros to politics in under five minutes. And then it's time for wrestling, with Kev giving credit where it's due on RAW, the presentation, and why certain talent feels like a "made man" the second the machine decides to frame them that way. The centerpiece is Gunther vs AJ, which Kev calls a true psychology-based, hard-hitting old school match, including a finish that felt like a believable wrestling screwjob and the kind of heat that comes from denying fans what they want, not just "doing moves."
