Theo has a suggestion for how we can avoid fixing the healthcare system. Jackie Kermits against her will. Rachel reminisces about her old classssssmatessss, Bobo and Bilbo. Topics include: Fuddruckers, Coca-Mola, Serpent Handling 101, Undermining the Government in a God-Fearing Way, frame narratives (which Rachel came up with), Battiscombe G. Folge 53 holt zum ganz großen Schlage aus und quillt förmlich über vor Dringlichkeit und Gehörtsollerei. Is this an episode with real teeth? We're careening towards the end of the series with our discussion of "Blood Moon". Sam - the co-host, not the hero - has dropped more than few hints as to his feeling about this episode along the journey, but how did his rewatch measure up to his memories? What does Dennis think of this episode compared to, say, "Curse of Ptah-Hotep" or "Portrait For Troian"? Was it a misstep in a maligned season? Or more quality Quantum Leap in a severely under-rated final season? We'll dive in deep, fangs and all, to take this one apart and see what works and what doesn't. Plus - Chicago gets a tornado, Dennis has a surgery, and Sam just tries to hold it all together! Hit that download button, give us a review, and subscribe away, Leapers!
The website has a very brief page on African philosophy so this is a short episode.African Philosophy is a disputed term, partly because it is not clear if it refers to philosophies with a specifically African theme or context (such as distinctively African perceptions of time, personhood, etc.), or just any philosophizing carried out by Africans (or even people of African descent). One of the earliest works of political philosophy was the Maxims of the Egyptian official and philosopher Ptah-Hotep as early as the 24th Century B.C. The Egyptian Hellenistic philosopher Plotinus of the 3rd Century B.C. is credited with founding the Neoplatonist school of philosophy.https://www.philosophybasics.com/general_african.htmlAnd as mentioned, I'm going to take just a couple of days off to decide my next route. This wraps up 5 Minute Philosophy and I hope you enjoyed it.Back soon with another short series and we have two new interviews coming next week as well. Thanks --- Jeff

On April 22, 1992, the most consequential episode of Quantum Leap, nay, the most consequential episode of TV ever, aired on NBC: “The Curse of Ptah Hotep”. Sam leaps into Dale Conway, an archeologist who, along with his partner, Dr. Ginny Wills, has just discovered the tomb of King Ptah-Hotep. The hieroglyphics on the wall tell them whoever disturbs the tomb will be swallowed by death, and it appears he starts making good on his promise as members of the crew start dropping as quick Al's one liners. We discuss an episode that is easily the love child of “A Potrait for Troian” and “The B**gieman”. We talk about the practice of “white-washing” in TV and movies, and we do some deep, deep fan-wank tying this episode to the the Evil Leaper project. Hope you enjoy!
In this weeks episode of the Quantum Leap Rewatch, Cory and Tom overact their lines when faced with mummies as they discuss season 4 episodes 17 & 18, "Moments to Live" and "The Curse of Ptah-Hotep." For this episode, Rachel asks a simple question about movie theaters in Chicago and Dawn provides her with an overly comprehensive summary, we apologize. Also, she finally saw Wonder Woman…3 months late. We have a new guest, Parker Bowman of the popular podcast(s) Junk Food Dinner and >Pool Party Radio. Rachel shares her utmost disgust for the episode’s behavior toward sarcophagi and we spend a good amount of time questioning why there are so many rugs available at this site and why everyone is dressed like the color of sand. Moreover, we’re all kind of sad that this episode has a lot more allusions to mummies than actual SpoOOky mummies. Enjoy! What Fresh Hell: Laughing in the Face of Motherhood | Parenting Tips From Funny Moms
Manners have been around since at least 2300 BC, when Ptah-Hotep wrote on papyrus that one should refrain from “speaking evilly” and from staring at people. And as parents, we say manners still matter— to quote Margaret’s mother, no one likes a bratty kid. But which manners still matter? We think author Tamar Adler put it best in her “Manners Manifesto”: Perhaps the way to distinguish useful etiquette from frippery is to discern which rules help us be good rather than seem good… Whatever unites [us] merits keeping, and what divides can be folded and stored away with the linen too old and ornamental to use. Eating the food you’re served, saying please and thank you, holding the door? All that makes other people happy. So our kids should do it. Although getting them there? That’s easier said than done. In this episode we talk about * why manners are all about context * why other people’s manners rule (even if they’re not yours) * whether it’s okay to expect (and perhaps forcefully elicit) good manners in your friends’ kids * why thank you notes suck but we have to make kids do them anyhow * why manners require constant reinforcement * why everyone should stop listening to videos in public places without headphones because that’s just absolutely the worst Learn more about your ad choices. Instruction of Ptahhotep is an ancient literary work attributed to Ptahhotep, a vizier under King Isesi of the Egyptian Fifth Dynasty (ca. 2414-2375 BC). It is a collection of maxims and advice in the saba'yat (teaching) genre on human relations, that are directed to his …
The great sage Ptah Hotep advises: Follow your heart as long as you live. Do not make a loss on what is said, do not subtract time from following the heart. Harming its time is an offence to the ka. Do not deflect the moment of every day beyond establishing your heart. As things happen, follow (your) heart. There is no profit in things if it is stifled. This Sunday on Khu Khem we will speak on the importance of following our hearts, our bliss, and how doing so will lead us to our purpose. We will also speak on the results on "Betraying our Hearts," or as our Ancestors would've said it "Eating our Hearts." THIS IS NOT ONE TO MISS!!!
Dynasty 6: A New Beginning.Around 2345 BCE, King Teti inaugurated the 6th Dynasty. He married into the royal family, and so began a new bloodline.
