Picture this: the gods have come and gone, dynasties have risen and face-planted, cities have popped up and crumbled, tourists have come, posed, and posted a million thirst traps on Instagram… but the Sphinx is still just sitting there like, “Yeah, I'll wait.”Today we're heading to Giza to talk about the world's most famous stone cat with a people head: the Great Sphinx of Egypt. It's massive, it's mysterious, it's eroding faster than our faith in humanity, and it sits at the crossroads of legit science, wild speculation, and whatever the hell Edgar Cayce was doing. We're going to walk through what the Sphinx actually is, what we think we know about its history, how old it might be, why people keep insisting there's a secret Atlantean library under its paws, what modern tech like ground-penetrating radar and fancy satellite scans are actually showing under the Giza plateau, and why so many folks see Dr. Zahi Hawass as the final boss of “Nothing To See Here, Move Along.”Strap on the sunscreen, adjust your tinfoil nemes, and get ready for Hysteria 51.Special thanks to this week's research sources:Main References Mentioned in the EpisodeLehner, Mark. The Complete Pyramids: Solving the Ancient Mysteries.London: Thames & Hudson, 1997.Hawass, Zahi. The Secrets of the Sphinx: Restoration Past and Present.Cairo: American University in Cairo Press, 1998.Jordan, Paul.Riddles of the Sphinx. Christian mysticism is widely spread through this relatively common but fairly new tradition derived almost exclusively from what might have been parody pamphlets that told the story of Christian Rosenkreuz. Johann Valentine Andrea claims to have written one such pamphlet to make fun of the growing interest in mystical and magical traditions shortly after the beginning of protestant era in Germany.Attempts at understanding the divine are plentiful and diverse, but there's a reasonable sort of logic to the idea that scientific pursuits can reveal the nature of the universe and its creator. Rosicrucianism has branched into scores of organizations, and is even found in some branches of Freemasonry. AMORC (Ancient and Mystical Order Rosae Crucis) and the Rosicrucian Fellowship are both fairly popular, and the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn brought us such great works as the Waite-Smith-Rider Tarot deck of 1909.All this and more... Mental alchemy—the art of mentally creating and visualizing the thing desired, is an subtle art that was mastered by ancients like the Rosicrucians. Among all creatures, we have within our beings creative powers that are a part of the God Consciousness; thus human beings are uniquely endowed. We have the rare privilege and ability to concentrate and create mentally that which we desire to create eventually in material form. In this process of mentally conceiving and mentally creating, humans are the equal in some degree to God, since it is a God-given privilege for humans to use the creative power which brought into existence in this universe all that is. But the art of mentally creating is little understood in the Western world and is practiced almost exclusively by those adepts who are often considered to be the white magicians of this earth. I say they are considered “the white magicians,” for their magic is white magic, free from evil and free from any destructive nature, as the power that they use is part of the creative power of the God Consciousness, and this creative power is incapable of creating that which is evil or that which is destructive. Here I read from a Rosicrucian text that discusses the Rosicrucian art of Mental Alchemy.
For many hundreds of years the Rosicrucians have taught the secret of psychic projection. There are many types and many levels of projection but to the new student the Rosicrucians generalize them all under the term “psychic projection.” Today we hear often about astral projection. This is one of several kinds of projection. There are also etheric projection, mental projection and soul projection. All are on different vibratory levels; some are consciously controlled and others are not. The Rosicrucians are interested only in controlled projection. They teach you how you may project at will and also how to make the person you are trying to reach aware of your presence. This is best achieved through etheric projection, which I will explain to you in this episode.
REAL MYSTICS KNOW that they must work through the Cosmic and with cosmic law in order to bring about the realization of their conceived and visualized dreams and plans. They never forget cosmic law, and never fail to take the Cosmic into partnership in all their plans and desires. However, there is a great difference between commanding cosmic help and demanding cosmic help. One may command cosmic help through one's worthiness, sincerity, loyalty, and devotion to cosmic ideals, but one can never demand anything from the Cosmic, for the attitude of demanding would immediately preclude any consideration on the part of the Cosmic for the wishes and desires of the petitioner.
