04 November 2025 Daily Devotion: "Rejoicing in the Lord" Philippians 4:10 New Living Translation 10 How I praise the Lord that you are concerned about me again. I know you have always been concerned for me, but you didn't have the chance to help me. Philippians 4:10 says, "I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it." This verse highlights the joy and gratitude the Apostle Paul feels for the Philippians' renewed support. It reflects the importance of community, care, and the opportunity to demonstrate love and support for one another. In timesof need or joy, sharing with one another brings about rejoicing. Paul teaches us to appreciate the concern and kindness others show, even if it wasn't previously expressed due to a lack of opportunity. It is a reminder to be grateful for the compassionate acts of others and to seek chances to supportthose around us.

Adam Ritchard | Philippians 4:4; Psalm 32:11, 47:1, 66:1, 98:4, 100:1; Matthew 5:11-12, 2:10-11; Habakkuk 3:17-18; 2 Samuel 6:16-23; Nehemiah 8:9-12 — The biblical concept of joy is not dependent on circumstances but rather deeply rooted in God's grace. Appearing hundreds of times throughout scripture, rejoicing in the Lord is essential to guard our hearts, strengthen and mark us as God's people, and lead us to respond rightly to Christ.

It's easy to praise God when things are good and going our way. I want to encourage you to also do it when things are hard. Don't forget that the Lord can take anything and use it for good. And when we turn to our loving God, He will help guide us and give us strength to endure. Readings at this Mass: Neh 8:2-4a, 5-6, 8-10 | 1 Cor 12:12-30 | Lk 1:1-4; 4:14-21

The Apostle Paul offers a powerful reminder to "rejoice in the Lord always" (Phil. 4:4) and invites us to experience a joy that is rooted not in circumstances, but in the unchanging nature of God.

We are starting a set of sermons that look at the language of prayer that we find in the Book of Psalms. The Psalms give us practical ways of praying through the different situations we find ourselves in life. In Psalm 32, we read a Psalm by David where he prays through a confession. In our culture confession is almost completely absent, but this includes church culture where on Sundays we put on our best face and want others to view us in specific ways. David shows why confession is so important and how it can actually lead to a "Rejoicing in the Lord." Let's explore this Psalm and how we can adopt confession as part of our prayer life.
