In this Pawndering episode of God and Our Dogs, host Meg Greer is joined by Dwayne Rivers of the Rivers Team at Phyllis Browning Real Estate. They listen to a story from a previous guest, Clint Buck, about his rescue dog Cotton — who faked an illness just to get an early walk — and then ponder the deeper question: Do we try to manipulate or perform for God the way dogs do for us? The conversation explores how God's attention is never something we have to earn, the danger of seeking recognition from others rather than serving from the heart, the Parable of the Vineyard Workers, and what true freedom in Christ looks like — even in unfair circumstances. 0:00 – Introduction & Show Overview 1:04 – Guest Introduction: Dwayne Rivers 1:57 – Cotton's Story: The Dog Who Faked an Illness 4:03 – Pondering: Do We Perform for God's Attention? 4:25 – God Knows Our Hearts — No Deception Needed 5:43 – Doing Good Deeds for Recognition vs. the Right Reasons 7:10 – The Parable of the Vineyard Workers 8:38 – The Blessing of Living with Christ 9:01 – Faith, Fairness, and the World We Live In 9:32 – Persecuted Christians & Entitlement 10:26 – Freedom in Christ (Book of Galatians) 11:18 – Keeping Your Eyes on God 11:43 – Wrapping Up & The Rivers Team 12:03 – Where to Find the Show

The most horrific crime against humanity in the world history is underway in our time. According to Open Doors' World Watch List, over 388 million Christians are currently being heavily persecuted around the world.  That's more people than live in the United States  being tortured, imprisoned, raped, driven from their homes and, in many cases, murdered simply because they follow Jesus Christ.  Our coalition called “Save the Persecuted Christians” conducted this week a powerful webinar exposing one of the most flagrant and ongoing examples of such horrors. It examined the genocide to which Nigeria's Christian population is being subjected with the knowledge and complicity of its government.  To his great credit, President Trump intervened there last Christmas, killing large numbers of jihadists responsible for such predations. Now, he must redouble his efforts to hold them and their governmental enablers accountable. This is Frank Gaffney.

Brother Wybo served persecuted Christians for decades through Open Doors alongside Brother Andrew, author of God's Smuggler. Andrew was known for his passion for distributing Bibles and his willingness to take risks to bring God's Word into hostile and restricted nations. During his time with Open Doors, Wybo developed the World Watch List, which tracks the countries where Christians experience the most persecution. He has now helped create the Bible Access List [Home | Bible Access List], a new initiative measuring how difficult it is for Christians worldwide to obtain Bibles. The list highlights both nations where governments restrict Bible distribution, such as Afghanistan, and places like India where Bibles are legal but scarce due to economic barriers, supply issues, or other challenges. Wybo hopes the list will inspire Christians to pray and support Bible access efforts. Drawing on decades of experience, he also shares lessons learned from persecuted believers and the encouragement he witnessed while distributing Bibles in Ethiopia.

Frank Gaffney is president of the Institute for the American Future, president & CEO of Save the Persecuted Christians, Vice Chairman for Committee on the Present Danger: China. He is speaker on the Secure Freedom Minute. Islam has a plan and according to William Federer, who appeared recently on Crosstalk, the steps are: immigrate, increase and eliminate. As former Muslim Shahram Hadian has indicated, Islam is a government legal system that seeks to be above all other governments and overthrow our laws. One targeted area is Texas. Beginning tomorrow and continuing this week, there are meetings taking place with the 15-member state board of education regarding whether they should remain with a pro-America curriculum in K-12 social studies or to adopt a curriculum sought after by the Council on American/Islamic relations (CAIR). Frank believes this effort involves cultural Marxism and Sharia supremacism that's been injected into Texas education in recent years under the guise of inclusiveness and the avoidance of Islamophobia. It's about dividing and weakening people while also leaving children ill equipped to deal with an existential threat to our freedom. How is it possible that CAIR can continue to have such leverage in Texas? Given that Texas Governor Greg Abbott has designated CAIR as a terrorist and transnational criminal organization, could this curriculum effort be the greatest threat to Texas since the Alamo?

The goal is to remind people to pray for persecuted believers as Hebrews 13:3 teaches: “Remember those who are in prison, as bound with them.” We’ve looked at Wang Yi and Early Rain Church’s writings in the aftermath of their arrest and attack in 2018, but I’ve also regularly turned to other persecuted ministers who have gone before, such as Richard Wurmbrand, to give us a voice literally from prison. A lot has happened in the Middle East this week. There is much to pray for, but I want to focus specifically on reminding us all to pray for the believers in the various countries in the middle of (or even in the periphery of) the current conflict: Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Oman, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Israel, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates (those are just off the top of my head, although I think that covers most of the nations either bordering Iran or somehow involved in the conflict). I took a few minutes to put these nations into four groups, based on the similarities as to how they treat local Christians, or missionaries, within their borders. (Note: I am not an “expert” on the Middle East). BIBLE ACCESS: More Persecuted Christians Receiving God's Word

Brother Wybo served persecuted Christians for decades as part of Open Doors with Brother Andrew. Andrew, the author of God's Smuggler, had a passion for Bible distribution and didn't shy from taking necessary risks to get God's Word into hostile areas and restricted nations. While serving with Open Doors, Wybo created the World Watch List which tracks countries where Christians face the most restrictions and persecution. Now he's led in the creation of a new list which tracks how difficult it is for Christians around the world to access Bibles. The Bible Access List tracks nations where governments attempt to stop Bible distribution, like Afghanistan, and also countries like India where Bibles may be legal but many Christians don't have access because of economic realities, supply issues or other reasons. Wybo hopes that creating a list that includes nations facing both Bible restrictions and Bible shortages will motivate Christians to pray and get involved in helping meet the need. He will share what surprised him most during his research and what formats of Bibles Christians around the world are asking for. He also shares how partnerships are key to meeting the need. Brother Wybo also shares what he's learned from persecuted believers over decades of serving them, and how a trip to distribute Bibles in Ethiopia, one of the top five countries with a Bible shortage, encouraged him as he had the privilege of giving believers their own copy of God's Word. February is Bible Month at VOM, and you can help deliver Bibles to persecuted Christians. A deeply troubling trend is unfolding in the world's most populous nation. Over the past decade, Christians in India – particularly in the northern regions – have faced a disturbing rise in persecution. Churches have been attacked, burned or forcibly closed. In addition, believers were beaten, pastors have encountered false accusations and subsequent arrests under the country's anti-conversion laws, the burning of Bibles had repeatedly taken place, and reports have emerged of forced reconversions to Hinduism. Closer to the Fire host, Greg Musselman, recently travelled to the state of Odisha to hear firsthand the stories of Christians who have experienced opposition for their faith and ministry work. Through these conversations, Greg explored the cost of following Christ in a climate of growing hostility – and the remarkable courage of believers who remain determined to spread the hope of the Gospel. During his travels, Greg also partnered with Step International Canada to teach a course on the theology of persecution, equipping Indian pastors and ministry ‘leaders in training' to prepare faithfully for the challenges ahead. Abhijit Naya, the Executive Director of Step International will join Greg after the report from Odisha. It's Wednesday, February 11th, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Christians are leaving volatile Middle East The number of Christians in the Middle East is falling as religious freedom deteriorates in the region. Karmella Borashan of the Assyrian International Council addressed the International Religious Freedom Summit in Washington, D.C. last week. She warned, “Christianity is fading from the Middle East and [Christians] are placed in the mercy of the perpetrators. Once we had 1.5 million Christians; now we have only less than 300,000 left.” Assyrian Christians, in particular, face persecution from Muslim Jihadists in Syria and Iraq. Hebrews 13:3 says, “Remember the prisoners as if chained with them—those who are mistreated—since you yourselves are in the body also.” U.S. and Hungary partner to advance religious freedom Speaking of the Middle East, the United States and Hungary  signed an agreement last week to advance religious freedom in the region. The U.S. Department of State noted, “Christians are the most persecuted religious group worldwide, yet atrocities and attacks against them too often go unaddressed. Such persecution presents a threat to American security and undermines the values upon which our nation was built.” Hungary has already been supporting suffering believers for years through its office of Aid for Persecuted Christians. The new agreement is focused on aiding the church in sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East. More Gen Zers attending church in New Zealand Baptist churches in New Zealand are seeing increased interest from young people.  Gen Z has reportedly been leading a rise in church attendance in the West, known as the “quiet revival.” The 2025 Annual Report for the Baptist Churches of New Zealand noted similar findings for its young people. Youth attendance in these churches increased 24% between 2022 and 2024. And people under the age of 25 accounted for nearly 60% of baptisms reported.  Trump tosses Obama's global warming policy In the United States, the Trump administration is expected to repeal an Obama-era climate change policy this week. The policy is known as the Endangerment Finding. It claimed that greenhouse gases, like carbon dioxide, are a danger to public health. The finding has been the legal basis for regulating greenhouse gas emissions.  The Environmental Protection Agency plans to rescind the rule, making it “the largest act of deregulation in the history of the United States.”  Is social media addictive to kids? Major social media companies are facing landmark trials this year for how their platforms affect children.  A case against Google-owned YouTube and Meta-owned Instagram begins this week. The companies face accusations that their platforms were designed to be addictive for kids.  The platforms TikTok and Snap were initially named in the lawsuit, but settled for undisclosed amounts.  Floridian Christian defended for objecting to pro-abort COVID shot Liberty Counsel recently filed an appeal on behalf of a Christian who lost his job for not getting the COVID-19 shot, reports LifeSiteNews.com. Christian Marin worked for Nemours Children's Hospital in Florida. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he refused to get the shot due to his pro-life beliefs. The hospital fired him in 2021. And the Florida Commission on Human Relations sided with the hospital in 2023. Liberty Counsel Founder and Chairman Mat Staver said, “Nemours [Hospital] violated Marin's religious protections and should be held accountable.” RFK partners with Christian recovery programs for addicts & homeless The Trump administration is welcoming faith-based organizations to participate in a new recovery program for drug addiction and homelessness. U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. made the announcement last week at Prevention Day. It's the largest government-sponsored gathering dedicated to advancing the prevention of substance use. Listen to comments from Secretary Kennedy.  KENNEDY: “This is a chronic disease. It's a physical disease. It's a mental disease. It's an emotional disease. But, above all, it's a spiritual disease. And we need to recognize that faith-based organizations play a critical role, helping people re-establish their connections to community.” Grandfather recorded entire Bible on audio for grandkids And finally, a grandfather went viral since December for giving his grandchildren a recording of him reading the entire Bible for Christmas. It took the grandfather over a year to complete. A video of him sharing the gift got more than a million views across social media. The video was originally posted by Tiffany Shabazz. She said, “We shared one video of Grandpa giving us such a personal meaningful gift and now everyone wants a copy. I can't believe how many people this has reached. God is definitely in this story. … We are up to needing 118 copies for people all over the world.” Psalm 78:4 says, “We will not hide them from their children, telling to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and His strength and His wonderful works that He has done.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Wednesday, February 11th, in the year of our Lord 2026. Follow us on X or subscribe for free by Spotify, Amazon Music, or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus (Adam@TheWorldview.com). In this episode, we discuss the nature of God, “who” God is, beginning with God the Father. Our reading explains how the Creed begins with God the Father because he is the first Divine Person of the most Holy Trinity. God is one Divine Being made up of three persons, and his identity is a deep mystery. Fr. Mike explains that God is a single ‘what' made up of three ‘who's.' Despite this mystery, God is not an anonymous force. He has revealed himself to us by making his name known to us, and he has thus made himself accessible. He'll share how Iranian Christians are seen as allies to Israel and, when arrested, often charged with espionage, a crime that carries the death penalty. The North Caucasus is a predominantly Muslim region of Russia. Marcus will share what it is like to be a Christian there. “I just want the Bible. How much does it cost?” First, the young Druze woman tried to access and read her own religion's holy book. But she wasn't allowed to read it. Then she tried to find a Quran. Finally, she came to a church and asked to purchase a Bible, worried she wouldn't have enough money to pay for it. The pastor told her that God's Word is priceless, but that he would give it to her without cost. Shocked, she took the Bible and began to read, eventually giving her life to Jesus. Brother Michael, a gospel worker in the Middle East, will share more of this young woman's powerful story and the Christian persecution she faced from her family while standing firm in Christ. In spite of persecution, even locked in a room, she continued to share the gospel. Learn what it's like to live as a Christian in the Middle East, and what believers face after leaving Muslim or Druze backgrounds to follow Christ. As believers engage in conversations with family and friends, they carefully plant spiritual seeds while testing their listeners' hearts to see if they are ready to go deeper. Brother Michael also shares how he trains and leads discipleship through Discovery Bible Study groups, which are multiplying as new believers share their personal testimonies with family and friends. One group started with nine believers, but today has multiplied into more than twenty groups with 150 believers! MALAYSIA: Government Denies Christian Converts Changed ID Cards

In Malaysia, every citizen carries an ID card that includes religion; every person is classified as either “Muslim” or “Non-Muslim.” The Malaysian constitution promises religious freedom and the right to choose one's religion. So what happens if a citizen changes their faith? “Brother Samuel” will answer that question this week on VOM Radio. Born into a Muslim family, he came to know that Jesus was the Son of God, then chose to leave Islam behind to follow Christ. At first, he kept his newfound faith quiet, knowing that being publicly identified as a follower of Jesus could bring all kinds of trouble. But as he grew in faith, he felt convicted about his silence. Jesus had died for him. How could he be unwilling even to acknowledge Christ? Learning of his conversion, Samuel's family encouraged him to dive more deeply into Islamic training and activities. Wanting to honor his father and his family, Samuel agreed to attend Islamic classes. But instead of bringing him back to Mohammed, the training forced him to become more rooted in Biblical truth and more capable at explaining and defending Christian doctrines. In 2018, Samuel began the process of applying for a new national ID card, changing his religion from “Muslim” to “non-Muslim.” Seven years later, his court case is still dragging on. While the most famous case of Christian persecution in Malaysia is the abduction of Pastor Raymond Koh, Samuel says there are hundreds of Christians right now in the same situation he's in: trying to get the government to issue them new ID cards that accurately reflect their faith. Please pray this week for Samuel and for other Christians in Malaysia. Next month is the International Day of Prayer for Persecuted Christians (IDOP). After dozens of churches and Christians' homes in Jaranwala, Pakistan, were attacked, looted and burned by a mob, Christians gathered in and around the ruins of their former church buildings to sing and worship the Lord. The words they sang were directly from Scripture: Psalms of lament; reminders that even in times of suffering we can come to the Lord and trust in His sovereignty. Dr. Yousaf Sadiq, professor at Wheaton College and co-leader of the Lausanne Persecuted Church Initiative, is back on VOM Radio, sharing the story of the Punjabi Psalter: what it is and how it has impacted the church in Pakistan and parts of India for generations. “I want the world to know this fascinating story and what it means for the church in Pakistan.” Yousaf says, “It's such a precious heritage.” Dr. Yousaf will also share about his work to support and include the ministry of persecuted Christians into the work of the Lausanne Movement. Dr. Yousaf Sadiq was born into a Christian family in Pakistan. He will share how his ancestors came to faith in Christ in India out of Hinduism. While his parents never had the opportunity to go to school and learn to read and write, Yousaf shares how they saw education as a privilege. His mother worked as a cleaner at a local school so that Yousaf and some of his ten siblings would have an opportunity to be educated. In the evenings, he would help his mother clean the school where he was a student during the day. Despite their deep poverty, Yousaf gratefully recounts how his family's needs were always met. Today Yousaf is a professor at Wheaton College and co-leader of the Lausanne Persecuted Church Initiative. He remembers how his parents invested time and energy in training their children to walk with the Lord, and how they led by example. “There was a strong training and guidance by our parents,” Yousaf said, “They would wake up early in the morning to pray, showing us that prayer was vital.” Yousaf also shares what it looks like to live in Pakistan as a Christian. There are many pressures within the society, but Yousaf understood at a young age that Christian persecution is part of following Christ. “I felt not only strengthened but also privileged that this was happening,” he says. Pray for persecuted Christians in Pakistan and be encouraged by the faith our brothers and sisters display. “We are Christians. [Persecution] can happen any time.” As the pastor of an illegal house church in China, “Brother Enfu” knows the truth of that statement. Listen as he shares why and how he prepares his wife and children for the day he may eventually be arrested and sent to prison. He will give an update on Christian persecution in China and how believers there are responding faithfully despite increasing government pressure. Enfu will explain how a new law prohibits foreigners in China from talking about their faith—even in private settings. He'll also share how the CCP's persecution strategy has changed, charging pastors and other church leaders with “fraud” or other financial crimes rather than using overtly religious criminal charges. “Christianity is the narrow way, and the government is warning people about it,” Enfu says. Instead of large church events, the gospel is spreading through one-on-one conversations with co-workers or neighbors as Christians share what Jesus has done in their lives. Brother Enfu encourages pastors and church leaders he trains to stay in China and serve Christians there, rather than leaving China for a more comfortable position in the West. He says that when he hears of a brother or sister imprisoned for their faith, it's an encouragement to him, even as he acknowledges the suffering they are enduring. Pastor Wang Yi is one of those Chinese pastors who stayed in China and stood firm in his faith. He is currently serving a nine-year prison sentence. Pray Chinese believers will be faithful in their daily life and ministry and pray for government leaders, including President Xi Jinping, to find and follow Christ. Brother Bayram came to the United States from Türkiye (Turkey) to further his education. He started a business, where one day a Christian customer gave Bayram a New Testament. He began to read it, the beginning of a path that would lead him to faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and the Son of God. It was a costly decision: his devout Muslim wife divorced him and wouldn't allow him to see their daughter. His brother had Bayram committed to a mental hospital, thinking anyone who would leave Islam was mentally unstable. It has been a difficult road, but Bayram's faith has only grown stronger as he has seen God work in his life and his country. Listen as he shares the story of his journey to Christ, and how his family pressured him to return to Islam and persecuted him for his Christian faith. He'll also share stories of others still meeting Jesus in Türkiye. Bayram will encourage and instruct listeners about how we—like the woman who gave him a New Testament—might help lead Muslims where we are toward Christ. You can connect online with Brother Bayram and his ministry at www.albtci.org. We'll finish this conversation with Bayram next week on VOM Radio. Between now and then, you can hear David Byle tell his story of persecution in Türkiye.
