After a successful trip to Plovdiv and subsequent victory in Dublin the lads discuss rare back-to-back wins for the Boys in Green. There's plenty of focus on the First Division on this week's show as Kieran & Gaz react to Darren Murphy's Finn Harps departure as well as looking back at last week's games including the Burko derby in Oriel. Dundalk emerge from last season's existential crisis to begin the season on the front foot with a promising win over Athlone Town in front of a packed Oriel Park. Ep 178 discusses Ciarán Kilduff's new look and very youthful side first league outing, We also discuss the role of John Temple is navigating the club through a rocky closed season and the spectacular, if controversial, pyrotechnics display and march to Oriel organised by an effervescent SSA.
Live action from a great Oxford tradition, the annual university rowing competition Eights Week. In this recording you can hear the crowd on the banks of the Thames next to the Oxford college boathouses cheering on their colleges in a race, culminating in a chant of "Oriel! Oriel!" It's Jerry Maguire time in the League of Ireland and before we run away with ourselves it's also awards time as the Premier Division team of the season as voted by the players is revealed by Stephen McGuinness on his annual trip into the Oliver studio. He's brought a happy Mark Coyle in with him and we chat about his journey to recognition before we dust down the phone line to dial up some other team members. Around all of that we jibber jabber about the greatest run in of all time, fights in Oriel, Damien Duff on muddy ice, Galway's trip to Rascals, and THAT goal in Drogheda in front of THAT housing estate. There's a guest reveal for the sold out live show, news on how you can compete for the two final tickets, and a broader debate with Stephen about the financial landscape of our league. Thanks, as always to Collar & Cuff, Rascals Brewery, Lily's Childcare and Future Ticketing for bringing us this far. It's episode 37 and we hope it gets your vote.
Ahead of the most anticipated night of the year - our live show in Rascals on November 4 of course - Johnny and Dan are in studio to also look ahead to a vintage LOI Friday, which might be overtaken next Friday and overtaken again the Friday after that. The best season ever? Certainly it's the busiest mailbag ever with Derry angst, Bohs anger, Pat's excitement and Breslin at 1.5x. Johnny briefly caught up with Alan Reynolds before an extended reunion with Stephen Kenny ahead of the do or die showdown in Richmond that should cut the title field from five to four. We couldn't do any of this without our fab four, Rascals Brewery, Future Ticketing, Collar & Cuff and Lily's Childcare, the facilitators for an hour that also features a bit of prison speculation, treble barreled adulation and whether the away end in Oriel is the least romantic place on earth? It's episode 36 and it's more lovable than the ex wife!
The Story of Hannah and Samuel in 1 Samuel Chapter 1.
Despite a valiant effort Dundalk's inability to score in periods when they have the upper hand sees Bohemians take all 3 points at Oriel and all but confirm relegation. But even life in the first division would be welcome for a fanbase who remain in suspense as to whether the club will survive the financial debacle of another disastrous ownership. Ep 174 ask what is the plan for survival? What steps should be taken now to address the clubs financial woes, and will fans get a seat at the boardroom table to protect the club from run amok owners?

Ep 165 catches up on Dundalk's clashes with Shelbourne, Sligo Rovers and Waterford which yielded 2 defeats and 1 victory. Dundalk remain 3 point ahead of bottom side Drogheda Utd and with other teams pulling away the two Louth clubs look set to battle it out in the basement for the remainder of the season, with Jon Daly needing to find replacements for the departing Zak Bradshaw and Zak Johnston ahead of the visit of Drogheda to Oriel park.

The crisis deepens at Oriel park as Dundalk begin the week with a record 10 match ban for Goalkeeper George Shelvey for comments made to the referee after the Louth Derby and concludes with a timid performance in the south east which sees Waterford put 4 past the Lilywhites once again porous defence. The weekend concludes with an open letter from fans calling for Noel King's dismissal followed promptly by the departure of Brian Gartland. Episode 161 discusses.
A spirited Dundalk match league leaders Shelbourne but ultimately fail to turn possession into goals leaving the Oriel clash with the league leaders as a 0-0 stalemate. A promising start to the weekend ends deflatingly with a very damaging defeat to 10 man Drogheda United. Jethren Barr's 76 minute dismissal followed by Jamie Gullen's set piece equaliser had the Lilywhites in the driving seat only for Drogheda to steal the points from an injury time free kick leaving Dundalk rooted to the bottoms of the table.

This week, Rachel chats with Oriel FeldmanHall, Professor of Cognitive, Linguistics, and Psychological Sciences at Brown University. Oriel's lab leverages methods from behavioral economics, social psychology, and neuroscience to explore the neural bases of social behavior, and the role of emotion in shaping social interactions. She has won numerous awards, including the Cognitive Neuroscience Society's Young Investigator Award for outstanding contributions to science, the Association for Psychological Science's Janet Taylor Spence Award for Transformative Early Career Contributions, and the American Psychological Association's Distinguished Scientific Award for Early Career Contribution to Psychology. In this episode, Oriel provides an introduction to the world of affective science, explaining how her team measures and studies emotion. She describes how the emotions that we expect to feel—and the inaccuracies in our predictions—shape our judgments and behavior, and the complex relationship between emotion and depression. We also discuss the hazards of sharing scientific findings on twitter, and how some of the best research questions originate in coffee shops. JOIN OUR SUBSTACK! With European football still a possibility on the final day Dundalk do what they have to against UCD and score a comprehensive win, but the hope kindled by Drogheda Utd's 2 goal half time lead over Shelbourne dissipates as the dire Drogs self destruct in the second half to see the Lilywhites conclude the campaign in 5th position. Nathan Border is an Agronomist and Broadacre cropper, who farms alongside his family on their property "Oriel", just outside of Parkes near Goonumbla. In the last 15 years, the family has shifted from a mixed-farming system to a cropping-only enterprise, following the mindset of doing "As much as you can, as quickly as you can." In this episode, Nathan shares how the family has shifted to a cropping-only operation, and explains how it enabled the adoption of practices like chaff decking and summer cropping, to help maintain a proactive business. He also breaks down the changes that have allowed the business to improve production and overcome new challenges. Local Land Services Cropping Officer, Tim Bartimote, caught up with Nathan on the back veranda at "Oriel" for this chat. Dr. FeldmanHall's research seeks to disentangle the cognitive and neural processes behind the complex choices that form the basis of human social behavior. In this episode, we talk about morality from the perspective of social neuroscience. We discuss if it makes sense to talk about different psychological ingredients to morality, like moral foundations. We talk about the role of emotion in decision-making, and the regions of the brain that participate in moral decision-making. We discuss what drives us to help others. We talk about how learning shapes our moral values; how social norms evolve, and why we comply to them; and how people weigh competing moral motivations. We talk about uncertainty in social contexts, and how people reduce it. We discuss the disconnect between people's moral beliefs and their behavior. Finally, we address general questions, like the nature vs. nurture debate; how social neuroscience relates to the social sciences and neuroscience; and if there are objective moral values. -- A HUGE THANK YOU TO MY PATRONS/SUPPORTERS: PER HELGE LARSEN, JERRY MULLER, HANS FREDRIK SUNDE, BERNARDO SEIXAS, OLAF ALEX, JONATHAN VISSER, ADAM KESSEL, MATTHEW WHITINGBIRD, ARNAUD WOLFF, TIM HOLLOSY, HENRIK AHLENIUS, JOHN CONNORS, FILIP FORS CONNOLLY, DAN DEMETRIOU, ROBERT WINDHAGER, RUI INACIO, ZOOP, MARCO NEVES, COLIN HOLBROOK, SIMON COLUMBUS, PHIL KAVANAGH, MIKKEL STORMYR, SAMUEL ANDREEFF, FRANCIS FORDE, TIAGO NUNES, ALEXANDER DANNBAUER, FERGAL CUSSEN, HAL HERZOG, NUNO MACHADO, JONATHAN LEIBRANT, JOÃO LINHARES, STANTON T, SAMUEL CORREA, ERIK HAINES, MARK SMITH, JOÃO EIRA, TOM HUMMEL, SARDUS FRANCE, DAVID SLOAN WILSON, YACILA DEZA-ARAUJO, ROMAIN ROCH, DIEGO LONDOÑO CORREA, YANICK PUNTER, ADANER USMANI, CHARLOTTE BLEASE, NICOLE BARBARO, ADAM HUNT, PAWEL OSTASZEWSKI, NELLEKE BAK, GUY MADISON, GARY G HELLMANN, SAIMA AFZAL, ADRIAN JAEGGI, NICK GOLDEN, PAULO TOLENTINO, JOÃO BARBOSA, JULIAN PRICE, EDWARD HALL, HEDIN BRØNNER, DOUGLAS FRY, FRANCA BORTOLOTTI, GABRIEL PONS CORTÈS, URSULA LITZCKE, SCOTT, ZACHARY FISH, TIM DUFFY, SUNNY SMITH, JON WISMAN, MORTEN EIKELAND, DANIEL FRIEDMAN, WILLIAM BUCKNER, PAUL-GEORGE ARNAUD, LUKE GLOWACKI, GEORGIOS THEOPHANOUS, CHRIS WILLIAMSON, PETER WOLOSZYN, DAVID WILLIAMS, DIOGO COSTA, ANTON ERIKSSON, CHARLES MOREY, ALEX CHAU, AMAURI MARTÍNEZ, CORALIE CHEVALLIER, BANGALORE ATHEISTS, LARRY D. ABOUT QUEEN CHARLOTTE: THE OFFICIAL PODCASTOn this special new season of Bridgerton: The Official Podcast, we're diving into each episode of Shondaland's glittering prequel, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, the new limited series on Netflix. Queen Charlotte :The Official Podcast is the official companion podcast launching May 18th. Host Gabrielle Collins is an expert on the Bridgerton universe.GABRIELLE COLLINS BIO (FROM SHONDALAND.COM)Gabrielle Collins is a podcast producer known for her work on iHeartMedia's food and travel podcasts such as Tom Colicchio's Citizen Chef and WBEZ podcasts, including the Amnesty International USA Media Award-winning 16 Shots. She grew up between Chicago and the Bahamas and both studied theater and politics and got her Master's in Journalism from New York University. That's where she discovered her love for audio."Television is my jam," she tells Shondaland. "Yes, and I love telling stories with sound."When she was a fledgling producer, it coincided with the heyday of Scandal, which Collins says was an escape between long days of writing and reporting."I was working at ABC News and New York Public Radio at the same time," she says, "so I had to drum up some non-stop Olivia Pope energy. And sometimes Cyrus [laughs]. I can actually timestamp my journey as a producer with Shondaland moments: The Greys' plane crash episode aired days before I flew to London (to finish up my capstone at Oriel). Viola Davis as Annalise in HTGAWM took off that wig around the time I struggled with how to bring my whole self to work. I can keep going. But above all, these moments, and the teams that made them of course, renewed the power of drama and storytelling for me. And I'd bet there are a lot of people who feel that way about Rhimes and the writers and everybody involved so giving those people a podcast that goes inside a Shondaland production is the cherry on top of what I get to do." https://www.iheart.com/podcast/1119-queen-charlotte-a-bridger-77492332/https://www.shondaland.com/inspire/shondaland-bridgerton-behind-the-scenes/a35614752/gabrielle-collins-bridgerton-the-official-podcast/

He explores the Bible's long evolution, how much good translations matter, and what contemporary scholarship reveals about the Bible, including how as contemporary Christians we understand its place at the heart of our faith. The Revd Professor John Barton is the Oriel & Laing Emeritus Professor of the Interpretation of Holy Scripture at the University of Oxford, a Senior Research Fellow of Campion Hall, Oxford and an Anglican priest.
In an airport themed show, Johnny flies in from London to eventually find Dan and catch up with our old pal Sean Boyd, the Shelbourne striker, who jets to the UK this week to solve his injury problems although he explains that the ailment didn't prevent him from standing by his men in the Oriel tunnel on Monday. We get the lowdown on Shels life, cup regrets and the opponents that have impressed. Dan was in Dalymount to chat with Freddie Draper, the Englishman in Drogheda with good words and golf clubs in locker. Beyond that our mailbag discusses Saints woes, the ups and downs of the Rovers (both Sligo and Shamrock) and the inevitable pressure on JW to declare the title race over. Be sure to use Future Ticketing and Collar and Cuff for all your travelling needs and enjoy a Rascals Beer on board. So its final call for this turbulent flight, that inevitably will be late arriving.
Where do you start with the Week 1 review? We had Hulk Hogan style walkouts in Wexford, Norma Foley and Niall Quinn seeking out VIP paparazzi in Kerry, Athlone's new Bayside High class and the morals of LOI Season Pass on your dodgybox. After the new improved silk lined, hand stitched Collar & Cuff mailbag David McMillan and Ollie Cahill stopped by. McMillan, the European award winning goalscorer, who for so long has been the architect at Dundalk exclusively announces that he's retiring from the game to be an, erm, architect! He casts his eye over his career and his architects eye over Oriel! Ollie weighs in on LOI marketing, his campaign for an LOI Red Zone, and almost gives us an answer on the GOAT question Shels or Dundalk. It's a high octane, Future Ticketing powered deep dive into the excitement around the games being back and Rascals Brewery are showing our lucky quiz winner around their class brewery and a few tasters as well. Put down that Nutella, its Pancake Day LOI Central, and it's as tasty as a cold Rascals brew.

Can advertising's immense power to change behavior be used for good? In this brand new podcast, produced by Intelligence Squared, Myra Nussbaum, President and Chief Creative Officer at Havas Chicago and Dan Lucey, Chief Creative Officer at Havas New York, talk to the people who are harnessing the power of advertising to help people and the planet. This week, Dan and Myra are joined by Oriel Davis-Lyons, founder of the ONE School and Head of Creative (Podcast + Talk) at Spotify. Prior to joining Spotify, Oriel held roles at Droga5 and R/GA. He has won more than 100 awards including a D&AD Pencil in every colour except white, several Lions and three Webbys. Oriel discussed the dissonance between the way in which the ad industry has historically profited from Black culture, yet employed few Black creatives, and explained how the prohibitive financial cost of entering the advertising industry means it has failed to reach beyond a narrow slice of the vast potential talent pool at its disposal. He also talked about how a frustrated post on LinkedIn in June 2020 led to the founding of the ONE School and how the school empowers Black creatives with the skills required to work at the top agencies. On this episode of DTC Pod, Oriel joins Blaine to discuss the role of creative direction in launching a new brand. They talk about brand formation and topics including coming up with a name, defining your brand's purpose, the power of copywriting, merchandise as a medium, language as a product, how to find your brand's voice, ways to minimize inventory costs, launching and testing new products quickly, the state of voice & podcasting, & much more.7:31Your Name Is EverythingI'm a big believer in naming an idea and the name being very important. And until you've got a name, you don't necessarily have an idea. That kind of came at a moment, it was kind of like a shower thought, that just popped into my head one day when I was thinking about athleisure. And I was like, well what's the opposite of athleisure? What do you wear when you're doing nothing but zoom calls? And “corpleisure” kind of brought that all together.10:26Starting A Business? Do This FirstFor me it really helps when you know your purpose. Right. I spend a lot of time in my day, whether I'm working on corpleisure or anything else, I'm thinking, okay, what is, what is the purpose of like this brand or this piece of communication? Um, and then what's the takeaway that I want people to take from it, you know?17:34Your Brand Starts Here.If I was just going to tell someone in a conversation about this product, how would I do it? And the chances are like, if you're going to tell a friend over drinks or something, or telling someone at a barbecue like that's kind of your natural voice. And probably somewhere within that is your brand. Because when you speak naturally, especially about your own brands and about your own product, that's when you talk with passion, right? And if you could potentially maybe record yourself doing that, you'd probably hear those words that you use when you're excited about telling someone about this new product that you've got, um, and that's kind of your voice and that could be your brand.
