Phil and I just returned from our vacation in Nassau, Bahamas! Join us as we discuss our trip! We tell you what you need to know before you go, where to stay, what activities to do, where to eat, and most of all what we liked and did not like about the trip. Phil will dazzle you with his opening history lesson about the Bahamas. :) You will also get to hear all about our non caged shark dive (11ft sharks all around us!!! I posted pics below), and if you know Marta On The Move well enough by now, you know I always manage to get myself into a calamity... My poor parents. CALAMITY- : a state of deep distress or misery caused by major misfortune or loss ORIGIN- Middle English calamytey, from Latin calamitat-, calamitas; perhaps akin to Latin clades destruction First Known Use: 15th century You listeners get to hear about me snorkeling into an oil spew, yes you heard it right. We chat about the pains of trying to get thick black oil washed off of your body and hair for hours on end, and also me getting rubbed down with degreaser by a man with a gold tooth. I can't make this stuff up. It is awful what is happening on that island, and to raise awareness, I went on KDKA News Radio 1020am this past Friday with Robert Mangino and Shelley Duffy to chat about it and make others aware. I urge everyone to go to www.savethebay.com and sign the petition to stop the oil companies before they do more damage to marine wildlife. I was in the water for 10 minutes and I was covered in oil. I cannot imagine what the lasting effects have on our Earth. I posted the KDKA link below as well. Below are some links to the places and activities we participated in, places we liked the food, and some of our pictures from the trip! I really hope I figured out how to post a video on here, so people can experience what it is like to scuba dive! Thank you Frank Snyder for the pictures and videos! A lot of these photos do not do the Bahamas justice. The water is truly gorgeous there, let's try and keep it that way! Please share this post to get everyone involved!!! Check me out on the Epicast Network! #savethebay Island Time Charters- Say hi to Marcie and Euguene! Tru Bahamian Food Tours- Hello Nick! Stuart Cove- diving and snorkeling Poop Deck- The original Bahama Mama! So good! Nesbitts- Get any of the rum drinks Conchin Joe's- Follow this truck everywhere! The food is so good. Marta On The Move Podcast- Hosted by Marta Napoleone Mazzoni
I have a confession to make, I am a planner. Party planning, and traveling planning is always something I have been very good at achieving the greatest results. It comes from my researching nature. For me, the planning aspect is half of the fun, half of the journey to whatever experience you are seeking. This, however has leaked out over the years, and resulted in myself being chosen as Maid of honor 4 times, Best Man once, the go to person for planning any party, or any trip. Travel is a big, big thing for me, and the research portion of traveling is the best part of the trip in my eyes, but not everyone feels that way. There has never been a trip I could just show up and relax. Tell me how much I owe you, and when to be there, that has never happened to me. When will someone take up the helm and let me play the passenger. It just so happens, a very close friend of mine, is also an "A type" personality. She is always in charge of overseeing the details. Over drinks one evening, we came up with a brilliant idea. Why not plan a secret vacation for one another? It seemed like most ideas that I have when I am drinking..... AMAZING. We poured over the logistics of how we would achieve such a thing. Talked until the next bottle of wine was empty. It was a night to remember, and the ideas still sounded plausible the next morning. so we dove in. She took the first trip to plan, and we actually leave this week. I am clueless as to where we are going or what we are doing. For the first time in my life, I am just along for the ride... Want to have a secret vacation yourself? Here are the top reasons why you should try it tune into my podcast to hear what sort of questions you should ask too start planning your trip! Ever been on a secret vacation? Post in the comments what you liked about it, or didn't like. Would you ever do one yourself? Top Five Reasons- Tune into the podcast for my details! 1. Relationship building 2. Feeling Appreciated 3. Losing Control 4- Breakout of your routines, gain a new appreciation 5. Find your sense of adventure How to start your own Secret Vacation questionnaire- How many days are you willing be away? How many hours are you willing to travel by car or plane? What is your budget? - Be sure to include transportation, room and board, rental fees, and any other major activities. If you are the planner, be sure to include a packing list. Remember- know the person you are going with. If the person is afraid of heights, do not book a sky diving trip. ;) Relax and enjoy the experience! Marta On The Move will be featured on KDKA Afternoon Radio with Robert Mangino and Shelley Duffy this Weds the 16th at 6:35pm to discuss Secret Vacations, and on the air again after she finishes her trip to give details. Marta On The Move has been featured on Star 100.7, Kdka News Radio, Empowering Women's Radio, and Yinzperation. You can find her other content on iTunes, Facebook, Twitter, and the Epicast Network
