Thinking about moving to Grand Rapids, Michigan? Before you load up the moving truck, there are a few things nobody tells you until it's too late. Ross Bacon with May Group Realtors at RE/MAX of Grand Rapids shares the honest picture of what life in Grand Rapids is actually like — and what to expect before you make the move.⏱️ VIDEO CHAPTERSIntroduction (0:00)Michigan Is a Title State (0:22)Grand Rapids Traffic (1:27)Getting In and Out — GRR Airport (3:01)Rethinking Your Commute Math (4:33)Closing Thoughts (6:34)What No One Tells You About Moving to Grand RapidsMoving to Grand Rapids is one of the best decisions you can make — but there are a few things that trip up almost every newcomer, and knowing them ahead of time makes all the difference.Michigan Is a Title StateIf you're relocating from an attorney state like Georgia, New York, Massachusetts, or South Carolina, you're used to having a lawyer at the closing table. Michigan works differently. Here, a licensed title company handles your closing — no attorney required. The process is smooth and efficient, but it will feel different than what you're used to. Lean on your real estate agent and get comfortable with your title company early.Grand Rapids Traffic Is Not What You ThinkComing from Chicago, Atlanta, Denver, or any major metro? You're about to experience something genuinely surprising. Grand Rapids runs on a sensible grid system, highway access actually works, and the entire metro area is compact enough to cross in 20 to 25 minutes on a normal day. Locals will warn you about the 28th Street corridor on a Saturday. They mean well.Rethink Your Commute MathThis is the one that catches almost every out-of-towner off guard during the home search. In a big metro, 30 to 40 minutes from work lands you in a nice suburb. In Grand Rapids, 30 to 45 minutes from downtown could put you in a completely different county. Think in miles, not minutes. A 10- to 20-minute commute here still gives you access to a huge portion of the metro — and that range can get you a four-bedroom home with a backyard on a quiet street, something that simply does not exist at that price point in most American cities.Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR)GRR is Michigan's second busiest airport, handling more than four million passengers a year with nonstop service to over 30 destinations. It is also in the middle of a major transformation — Project Elevate, a $500 million+ investment that includes a newly expanded Concourse A and a $135 million terminal enhancement project. GRR is the first small-hub airport in the United States to implement a consolidated baggage inspection system. You are not driving to Detroit to catch a flight.Grand Rapids is growing fast. And now you get to grow with it.

You ever see a “3 a.m. merch line” post and feel your blood pressure spike? That's where we start, because the BTS tour has turned basic concert errands into a full-on endurance event. We talk about what's happening at Stanford Stadium, why thousands of fans are lining up overnight, and how that kind of crowd energy spreads fast across TikTok, Instagram, and X, especially for anyone with concert anxiety or transportation worries. From there, we zoom out into the real mechanics of stadium shows: parking windows, gate timing, traffic flow, staffing, ADA access, and what happens when a venue underestimates how many people show up early for freebies, meetups, and community hangouts. We compare stories from other cities, including delayed entry and seating headaches, and we shout out Stanford's “Know Before You Go” approach as the kind of clear planning every stop should copy, especially with upcoming shows at places like Gillette Stadium. Then we get blunt about ticket resale scams and clickbait. We break down a headline claiming BTS tickets are “dropping,” the SeatGeek affiliate fine print, and the reality of “as low as” pricing that doesn't match what fans actually see on the map. Our message is simple: stop feeding scalpers, protect your budget, and use legit options like face-value exchanges, livestreams, or theater screenings when you need a safer alternative. If you're feeling the hype and the stress at the same time, hit play, then subscribe, share the episode with your concert group chat, and leave us a review. We discuss how Google is reshaping the local experience by elevating AI-generated insights above traditional organic content.• Google's new reviewer aliases and their implications — from anonymity and fraud concerns to how aliases complicate trust, moderation, business intelligence, and the already-confusing review ecosystem.• Ads quietly invading AI Mode — what early experiments show about ad placement, user behavior, declining click-through rates, and Google's likely future ad units as the AI interface becomes the top of the SERP.• Google's monopoly strategy in the AI race — including how Google is leveraging its scale, distribution, defaults, and product integrations to push Gemini over ChatGPT, claw back market share, and extend its dominance into AI search experiences despite weak antitrust remedies.Plus: The Near Media newsletter is going free.Subscribe to our newsletters and other content at https://www.nearmedia.co/subscribe/

Trish gets into all things travel during pregnancy - whether you're dreaming of a babymoon, heading out for work, or visiting family. Traveling while pregnant is a whole different ballgame, but don't worry, Trish has got you covered with safety tips, airline and cruise policies, packing must-haves, and hacks to keep nausea and exhaustion at bay. Let's make your journey as comfy and stress-free as possible! What's Inside:Is It Safe to Travel? Most pregnancies are good to go up to 36 weeks if uncomplicated, but always check with your doctor.Airline & Cruise Rules: Cruises often cut off at 24-28 weeks (shocking, right?) and may need a doctor's note. Domestic flights usually allow travel up to 36 weeks, but international ones might stop at 28-32 weeks. Get a “fit to fly” note just in case, and call ahead!Fly or Drive? Flying's faster with easy bathroom access, but security and tight spaces can be a drag. Driving gives you control and flexibility, but long sits can mean back pain and boredom. Pro tip: Stop every 1-2 hours to stretch, and wear compression socks to keep swelling and clot risks down.Nausea Hacks: If you're dry-heaving at 30,000 feet (been there!), try acupressure wristbands, ginger chews, or peppermint oil to fight smells. Keep protein snacks like almonds or peanut butter crackers handy—low blood sugar makes nausea worse. And hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!Packing Essentials: Overpacking is self-love, mamas! Bring prenatal records (past 25 weeks), compression socks, a water bottle, snacks, a belly band, supportive shoes, and a lumbar pillow. Comfort Tips: On planes, snag an aisle seat to move every hour and use a foot sling. For cars, recline slightly with a cushion and crack the window for nausea. Keep seatbelts low across hips, not your bump. When NOT to Travel: High-risk conditions like placenta previa or preterm labor risk? Stay put. Bleeding, cramping, or less baby movement? Nope, don't go. Far from good hospitals? Not worth it. Always talk to your provider if you're unsure. You don't have to pause life because you're pregnant - just plan smart! Pack snacks, stay hydrated, move often, and advocate for your comfort. You're a superhero growing a human, so give yourself grace if travel feels harder than usual. Whether it's a babymoon or a road trip to grandma's, you've got this!More from this episode:Third Trimester Prep PackStaying Comfortable Traveling while Pregnant: What To Expect And How To Stay SafeFoot Sling for Air TravelVitamin B6 and
