Peter writes that we should let the driving thought and process of our thoughts be that Christ nailed our sin to the tree and so we are a free and redeemed people — we have “ceased from sin” and our lives are to be solely focused on the will of God, on His kingdom. Judgment is coming, so let’s live as people who stand on the right side of judgment bc it is finished. Peter also reminds us that those who are in Christ, whether they are alive or pass away, nothing separates us from the love of God and from being in His presence. When Peter says “arm yourselves with the same way of thinking…” [v.1], there’s a connection between understanding suffering and having the mind of Christ (Phil. 2:1-8). Even in the Christian, there’s conflict between the mindset of living for the yourself and living for God. But Peter says that we shouldn’t live the rest of our time in the flesh, according to our sinful human passions, but for the will of God. There isn’t a person who is living or a person who has already died who does not fall under the authority & rule of God - all must give an account. If we are to have the mind of Christ, there is no better way than to read, study, think, memorize, and prioritize God’s Word.

Suffering: A Catalyst for Commitment
The reason for our hope in this life is that we’ve been made alive for the will of God. And while many around us are spiritually dead, we have a message of life and salvation to share with them.
The resolve to follow God's will.

In today's passage we learn that as a Christian, you may have to suffer unjustly for your faith, but know that God is able to reward you and to ultimately deal with those who may trouble you.

In a world of darkness, Christians are called to arm themselves with a hatred and fighting against our OWN sin.
In I Peter 4:1-6, Peter encouraged his readers to arm themselves with the same resolve and way of thinking that Jesus Christ had, so that they might abstain from sinful desires that war against them. We are to arm ourselves so that we think and act like Jesus

As we walk as strangers through this world, we are called to live in a godly way that clashes with our culture. We are criticized and experience suffering because of our relationship with Jesus. People we know who don't know Jesus will react to us in different types of ways. Let's dig into 1 Peter 4:1-6 and find out how to shine God's light in a dark world.
