This episode of the Tactical Living Podcast, hosted by Coach Ashlie Walton and Sergeant Clint Walton, tackles a silent struggle many first responders face: hyper-vigilance that doesn't switch off when the shift ends. On the job, scanning for threats is survival (Amazon Affiliate). But at home, that same mindset can turn into exhaustion, irritability, and disconnection. We explore what hyper-vigilance looks like in everyday family life, why it's so hard to shake, and how to retrain your nervous system so peace doesn't feel like danger. 5 Examples of Hyper-Vigilance at Home Constantly Scanning the Environment Always checking locks, windows, and exits—even in your own living room. Startle Responses to Everyday Sounds Jumping at noises like a slammed door or a child's toy dropping to the floor. Difficulty Relaxing in Public Spaces Choosing seats with a view of exits and never letting your guard down, even at a restaurant. Emotional Distance From Family Remaining “on duty” mode at home makes it hard to fully connect with your spouse or kids. Chronic Restlessness or Insomnia The nervous system stays on alert, robbing you of sleep and recovery. 5 Ways to Combat Hyper-Vigilance Practice Grounding Techniques Use deep breathing, mindfulness, or body scans to bring your nervous system back to calm. Create Safe Home Rituals Intentionally shift from “on duty” to “at home” with habits like changing clothes, showering, or a short walk after work. Communicate With Family About What's Happening Explain why you might seem distracted or tense, so loved ones don't misinterpret your distance. Limit Over-Stimulation at Home Turn off constant news feeds or radio chatter that keep your mind in a state of alert. Seek Professional Support When Needed Therapy, peer groups, or chaplains trained in responder culture can help you reset patterns that feel automatic.

What does it mean to live like someone who's already died and been raised again? In this passage, Peter shows us what new life in Christ really looks like—not in some heroic, far-off sense, but in the everyday stuff of prayer, love, hospitality, and service. It's a call to ordinary faithfulness in the last days, empowered by the Spirit and aimed at the glory of God.For more sermons or information about our church, visit HoriconBaptist@gmail.com.#1Peter4 #1PeterHBC #LivingLikeYouveAlreadyDied #OrdinaryFaithfulness #BornAgain #HoriconBaptistChurch #GraceAndTruth #FaithComesByHearing

Today's episode is a Part II of breaking free from cell phone addiction by turning smartphones into "dumb phones." Reclaiming our attention through intentional boundaries, mainly by living like it's 1995 again.• Deleting apps like banking, email, shopping, and browsers forces intentional computer-based usage• Setting boundaries like no phone before 7am and designated check-in times reduces compulsive checking• Switching to paper grocery lists and physical tracking systems eliminates constant phone dependency• Leaving the phone in the car during errands creates freedom from constant digital connection• Using an actual camera instead of phone camera brings back nostalgic imperfection in photography• Placing the phone in one location at home (like an old house phone) prevents room-to-room carrying• Weekly 25-hour "phone Sabbath" provides complete digital detox from Friday to Saturday nightIf this journey inspires you to make changes in your own phone habits, I'd love to hear about your experience!Send us a textwww.daraboxer.com
One way to know that you have received Jesus is if you are living as He lived. Jesus' life illustrates perfectly what it means to love God and love neighbor so that if we simply do what he did we will be obeying God perfectly. We can rejoice that because Jesus came and lived the life that he did, he has shown us how to have an indestructible life that darkness cannot shake or destroy. As we set aside 21 days to pray and seek God together, we're going to focus on the PRESENCE of God. When we prioritize this time to pray and not just talk to God, but hear from Him too - something significant happens. Let's grow deeper in our relationship with God as we practice the presence of God, personally and corporately.

Enoch may not be a household name, but in his day, he had a great reputation. He was known as a man who pleased God. He made God smile because he "walked with God" in a loving, trusting relationship. Enoch knew "without faith it is impossible to please God." To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/508/29
Philippians 3:17-21 NLT17 Dear brothers and sisters, pattern your lives after mine, and learn from those who follow our example. 18 For I have told you often before, and I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ. 19 They are headed for destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth. 20 But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. 21 He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control. • • •1. Look to other Christians as an example. • • •Philippians 3:17 NLT17 Dear brothers and sisters, pattern your lives after mine, and learn from those who follow our example. • • •1 Corinthians 11:1 NLT1 And you should imitate me, just as I imitate Christ. • • •2 Timothy 3:10 NLT10 But you, Timothy, certainly know what I teach, and how I live, and what my purpose in life is. You know my faith, my patience, my love, and my endurance. • • •2 Timothy 3:14-17 NLT14 But you must remain faithful to the things you have been taught. You know they are true, for you know you can trust those who taught you. 15 You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. • • •2. Look NOT to this world for your example. • • •Philippians 3:18-19 NLT18 For I have told you often before, and I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ. 19 They are headed for destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth. • • •3. Look forward in life with a heavenly mindset! • • •Philippians 3:20-21 NLT20 But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. 21 He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control. • • •1 Corinthians 15:47-49 NLT47 Adam, the first man, was made from the dust of the earth, while Christ, the second man, came from heaven. 48 Earthly people are like the earthly man, and heavenly people are like the heavenly man. 49 Just as we are now like the earthly man, we will someday be like the heavenly man. • • •1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 NLT16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves. 17 Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. 18 So encourage each other with these words. • • •Application:Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.– 1 John 2:6

Welcome back to our Rooted in Ephesians series!Today we're resting in the truth of Ephesians 1:11–12:“In Him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will, in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of His glory.”You've been chosen. You've been included. You have an inheritance—a future and a position in the kingdom that you didn't earn, but were freely given in Christ. When you realize you're an heir, not an outsider, it starts to change the way you think. You don't have to live from insecurity, fear, or shame anymore. You don't have to chase value—you already have it.Your spiritual inheritance is a daily invitation to live like a daughter of the King, walking in purpose, identity, and peace—because your story is part of His glory.
In today's message, Pastor Johnny describes how sin's grip is broken and no longer holds power over you. Blaming Satan for your sin is dishonest. Jesus shattered the chains and will crush the devil's works. Are you living in that freedom or still acting caged? Don't let a single excuse stand in your way! Jesus has won.

In today's message, Pastor Johnny describes how the world slaps labels on believers—crazy, hateful, intolerant. It stings when friends or family shut you out, or relationships end because your faith shines too bright. Some can't take the light Christ brings. The world will push back. In this powerful solo episode of the Growth Now Movement, I (Justin Schenck) sit down with YOU to talk about something deeply personal and often overlooked: legacy. Inspired by the recent passings of cultural icons like Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Ozzy Osbourne, and Hulk Hogan, I share my thoughts on what it truly means to leave a lasting impact. These legends lived boldly, made mistakes, and still left behind a legacy that touched millions. And that's what this conversation is all about—understanding that our imperfections don't define us; they shape us. Justin opens up about: Why your legacy starts with how you show up today The importance of being present with your loved ones How to turn personal setbacks into a springboard for growth Why you don't need to have it all figured out to start building your legacy A heads-up on his upcoming break in August (and why revisiting past episodes could be exactly what you need) This is a reminder to live life on purpose, embrace the lessons in the missteps, and keep showing up as your most authentic self. Whether you're a creator, entrepreneur, parent, or just someone seeking more depth and meaning in your journey, this episode will hit home. What will your legacy be?

In this episode, Robert and Lucas talk about spiritual warfare, not as something mysterious or dramatic, but as a real and often subtle battle that happens in our thoughts, relationships, and values. From the lies we believe to the way we treat others, we're constantly invited to resist evil by living in truth, unity, and love. This conversation brings clarity to a topic many overcomplicate and reminds us that the fight is already won, and our job is to stay alert, grounded in Scripture, and faithful in the simple things.Subscribe to receive our latest videos!Website: https://www.sunvalleycc.com/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sunvalleycc/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sunvalleycc/Tiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@sunvalleyccTo support Sun Valley and help us continue to reach people all around the world click here: https://www.sunvalleycc.com/givingGod loves you no matter who you are, what you've done, or what's been done to you.
