Todays Morning Bull on this 2nd Wednesday in November was a 4 hour long celebration of Veterans Day! From taking texts and stories from veteran listeners, to honoring those who have fallen and those MIA with tribute sound and even a game of guessing celebrity veterans for Rob! We also spoke with Brad Williams, famous little-man comedian about his virtual show coming up this Saturday and paid more respects to Alex Trebek! Robs Did You Know took place, as did the TrendZone featuring some great sound from around the world! Since Rob wasnt here yesterday, so Bull, Chris and Bobby devised a list of celebrity veterans from musicians to actors, and put them in categories of three for Rob to play a game with. We then asked him which of the three stars were veterans and you will be SHOCKED to hear his results. Brad Williams is a stand up comedian who joined us early on in the show to talk about his virtual comedy tour in which will be available in Buffalo this Saturday night at 10PE on TixRush.com! Famous for basing a lot of his comedy on his little-person stature, Brad was charged up when he called in and even talked Buffalo, the Bills and Josh Allen with us! Throughout the ENTIRE show we took texts, tweets, messages and more from YOU veterans and those who are related to veterans in order to honor them on this Veterans Day in 2020. This included some really cool stories remembering crazy instances during war, training and stations, things they saw and did while overseas or in different states during their service. We even got some funny anecdotal stories from vets with great senses of humor about clever experiences they had. Some were more somber in tone, but in all, us here on Morning Bull and 97 Rock wanted to hear EVERYTHING we could to help honor those who served and serve our country. Ed Cardoni is a local Buffalo man who, in 2015, competed on 'Jeopardy!', hosted by none other than the recently-late Alex Trebek. Ed called to tell us some of his memories of his time recording the episode he appeared in, as well as his best recollections of Alex and the type of person he was on and, especially, off screen. He had nothing but great things to say, as we expected and his stories were really interesting for Trebek and 'Jeopardy!' fanatics. ONLY AVAILABLE on the Morning Bull Podcast! Since Rob is still hating Zoom, we are bringing you a past episode where we talk about some summertime beers. Listen to the choices and I'm sure at some point Rob voices his disdain for sour beers which now he favors to drink. Now that breweries are opening up their beer gardens, we will get back to recording new material and visiting places in a responsible way. Make sure you continue to visit our sponsors, White Eagle Liquor Store in Riverside. The Thirsty Quaker Bottle Shop in Jersey City. When they can begin rolling again, make plans to go and visit places with Beer Belly Brew Tours.
On this episode of the WhoTheF*ck? podcast, Rob Lawless, creator of Rob’s 10K Friends, explains what prompted his mission to meet 10,000 unique individuals and spend one hour, one-on-one with each of them – for absolutely no reason other than to create connections. Since Rob began his project in 2015, he has met over 3,300 people (I was 3,396!) and doesn’t plan to stop until he reaches his goal to become friends with 10,000 people. The format of this episode is a bit different than you may expect, as it takes a page from Rob’s book and allows each of us to get to know one another better, the way we would if we were just having a friendly conversation. Rob’s time at Penn State University acted as the catalyst for Rob’s 10K Friends, so this episode’s WhoTheF*ck For A Cause is in support of Penn State Thon. In this episode of the Expert Perspectives podcast, sponsored by Planet Depos and hosted on Law.com, we’ll hear highlights from the March 26th presentation titled, Recession and Crisis Preparation: How New Technologies Can Help Law Firms Streamline Operations. Is a recession on the horizon? While the probability of a near recession can never be 100% predicted, it is smart to prepare. In fact, any global crisis, such as the coronavirus pandemic, underscores the need to devise a strategy before it happens, rather than in the midst of a crisis. Is your firm adequately prepared? The speakers in this presentation -- Chad Peterman, Partner at Paul Hastings; Robert Burger, Chief Operating Officer at Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox; as well as Billy DiMonte, Founder & Managing Partner at Planet Depos -- address how law firms can streamline operations and integrate new technologies, such as in the area of depositions, to brace for a global crisis. Today, on the Early-Stage Founder Show, I'm talking with , whose resume is hard to cover in this short intro, but I'll do my best. He was most recently the founder of , a lightweight marketing automation tool that was acquired by in 2016. Before that, he bought, grew, and sold the keyword tool , is a co-founder of , an online community of entrepreneurs helping each other succeed, author of , co-host of the , and co-founder of , the world's biggest conference for the world's smallest self-funded software companies. He also has bought and sold many, many other smaller apps and websites along the way. If you couldn't tell, Rob embodies the term prolific when it comes to building companies and sharing his knowledge, and is one of the driving forces behind the self-funded startup movement. If you aren't familiar with him, stop listening to this and head over to andybaldacci.com/podcast/rob to find the show notes for this episode and check out the links to everything, including several interviews covering what it was like selling a sizeable SaaS company. You won't regret it. Since Rob is so prolific, I wanted to focus on something he hasn't talked about as much: what happens after you sell your company. In most cases, you don't ride off into the sunset with bags of money. In fact, you almost always are required to stay onboard, sometimes for up to 3 years. In this interview today, Rob shares what the post-acquisition transition was like, what could have made everything easier in hindsight, and his advice for founders who see an exit in their future. I've looked up to Rob ever since I read Start Small, Stay Small years ago, so having him on the show was a real treat for me, but I think this is an episode you'll get a lot out of as well.
The Chicago Cubs are currently favored to win the World Series, and if they do they'd break a 100+ year championship drought. With optimism at an all time high, this seems like a no brainer for brands, both national and local, to cash in on what could be a historic event. Brian Cristiano and Rob Cressy dish about how brands should capitalize off of the Cubs winning the World Series. Since Rob only lives a few train stops from Wrigley Field, he's got about a million ideas. What sort of brand activations would crush it? What could local companies in Wrigleyville do around 108 (the number of years since the Cubs last World Series)? How about national companies with larger budgets? At the end Brian and Rob give actionable advice on what you can implement into your business from the Cubs potentially historic event. - In each episode of The Sports Marketing Huddle, CEO of BOLD Worldwide Brian Cristiano, and Founder of Cress Media & Bacon Sports Rob Cressy give a forward-thinking perspective about some of the hottest topics in the world of sports marketing and then give you actionable advice on how you can implement it into your business. Since Rob and HookSlide last went back and forth on episode three of The Voice of the Turtle, the Detroit Tigers have lost nine of their 11 games. They have dropped 20 (!) games behind the Kansas City Royals in the AL Central and are close to scraping the bottom of the American League's depths. This means one thing: bad September baseball! Obviously, we're not excited about this, but episode five of the podcast helps shed some light on a few bright spots and things to watch in the last month of the season. Topics in this week's episode include: HookSlide wanted a dumpster fire in Toronto, and he got oneJustin Verlander is still worth watchingWhat is a pseudoaneurysm? Since Rob and Noa are on the 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise, there is no new Livecast tonight. Instead of getting together another mixtape, we decided to compile a collection of clips from the show we did that was a precursor to the Livecast, our show in college, which we called The Worst Radio Show In The World. Rob and 3D were the hosts, and Sid and Noa would sit in sometimes. Here is a summary of the clips we included in this throwback: – Mrs. Divatelli discusses smoking cigarettes. – Rob had a tendency to say "like" a lot so we decided to play "The Like Game", where we counted each time he said like. – A sexual harassment prank – Sid berated a punk kid for like The Casualties – Our coverage of the Iraqi war with our correspondant in the field, Ethan. – Rob, 3D and Sid do porn director's commentary – We discuss the Kurt & Courtney documentary – Some George W. Bush mockery
Well hello everyone! For the first time in six weeks I was able to get down in the studio and hook everything back up. That meant that I better record something. This is not a normal episode but an audio update. For those who haven't heard, Captain Rob had an medical emergency and the Eaglerock Hangar has been a place of recovery and not one of flying or podcasting lately. That is about to change as we get back in the saddle again and plan to have an episode for you every 2 weeks starting the last week of April. We have a lot plans for both feeds. On the Together feed we plan to bring you a lot of stuff regarding life, kids, emergencies, career planning, life with 3 teenagers, college planning, and hopefully some laughs as this is the best medicine. On the Lessons feed we are planning to bring you video and audio content from within the hangar (Since Rob can't Fly). We still have some flying lessons to edit and put out along with ground briefings of preparation for Tina and Ryan's written test. Captain Rob also plans to do a series of systems discussions on the Cessna 150 and maybe the Boeing 737.Please give us your thoughts and comments to our new voicemail line at (206) 495-3111. You can also e-mail us at learningtoflytogether at gmail.comTodays song is "I Want My Flying Car" by Tom Smith and of course our intro music is "Learn to Fly" by Josh Woodard. Check them both out at the Podsafe Music Network.
