Dan and Shea are going through yet more changes to the format, but never fear; these are good. Starting in [the future] we will be reverting back to the original format. Maybe not every time. Maybe not the entire way. But we're doing it.In this episode, however, Dan and Shea discuss NHL 25, Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning, Greedfall, Shadow of the Road, The Sinking City, two terrible Sonic games, and of course, Skyrim.Follow the show:Our anchor: anchor.fm/BNGpodOur YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@BrokeNGamingPodcastOur Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BNGPodOur Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bngpod/Our Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/brokengamingpod.bsky.socialOur Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/bngpodcastOur Discord: https://discord.gg/cS3wEeajdrVirtually Analog podcast: anchor.fm/virtuallyanalogvirtuallyanalog.infoTwitter: @virt_analog

3-25-25 Tonight we're talking with Yoo Kwan, owner of Booze and Buzz Meadery in Seoul, South Korea. Kwan was born in Seoul, South Korea in 1988, but shortly moved out and spent most of the 90s and mid 2000s in Italy, Rome. There he was able to develop his palate on honey, as it was his first choice as a back sweetener on fruits that were usually to sour to eat (strawberry, apple etc). He also enjoyed making honey water, or sometimes with lemon juice, only to be drank cold as a energizer during hot summer and hot medicinal tea during cold winter. During his early-life in university he enjoyed not only drinking, but making cocktails with different varieties of booze, and extensively used honey to make honey flavoured wine and beer (also known as honey beer at some point in the late 2010s in Korea) Such passion for honey grew to a point where he wondered, what if you make a fermented drink out of honey, rather than mixing honey into pre-existing wine & beer? It was at that moment when he discovered mead from a PC game called Skyrim, he decided to make one for himself. The next year he teamed up with his college buddies to build a local meadery called bebee's brewery, later renamed to 3 bears Meadery, Even though they weren't the first meadery to come up, they gained more fame and popularity through SNS virals, and his passion for mead didn't stop when he had to step down and quit abruptly due to personal reasons. Kwan's research on mead continued in his house, day or night, and when he came across the European Mead Maker Association in 2018, he was encouraged to send his first entries to the competition by Mateusz Blaszczyk, who was organising Kings of Mead from Poland. There he achieved 2nd place in Metheglin, then 1st place in Specialty Mead in 2019 and 2nd in Mazercup 2020 while running his personal Mead Laboratory where he taught everything he knew about Mead through more than 120 classes for 2 years. After realising how difficult it was for folks to make anything back at home, Kwan came up with a business idea to develop the next Gen homebrewing device hoping to expand the culture of homebrewing and promoting mead in Korea. But before proceeding with hardware manufacturing business, it is important to build a firm brand as an award winning brewery/meadery for extra credibility. Hence his second meadery was founded in 2022, and their latest avenue jumped over 210% compared to the year before. So far, aside from amateur awards, Booze & Buzz Meadery has won several places in both Mexico and European Mead competition. 2023 MMC : Pyment 1st 2024 MMC : Braggot 1st Sparkling 3rd 2024 Copa del Hidromiel : Traditional 3rd 2025 MMC : Braggot 2nd Sparkling 2nd Their mission is to create the best experience in making, drinking and sharing booze around the world. Booze & Buzz Meadery Inc. is a subsidiary company of Booze & Buzz Inc, which primarily develops and sells smart homebrewing device. But before we advance with our smart homebrewing device, we decided to launch a meadery and introduce mead properly for many strategic reasons. Being recognised as a high quality mead making brand would later help them to bring their products closer to the users, and they want to position their brand as mead artisans who developed smart homebrewing device and not vice versa. (as clearly shown by LG electronics, they have launched their automated beer brewing machine with a little success) Here is a short article written about Booze and Buzz shortly after they established their company https://news.samsung.com/global/introducing-the-five-latest-startups-to-be-supported-by-samsung-as-spin-offs-from-the-c-lab-inside-program Located in the northern side of Yong-In city, Gyeonggido Province, their meadery mainly focuses on producing traditional mead with wildflower honey, and from time to time single sourced honey traditionals would be available.

In this episode, we dive into Avowed, the upcoming RPG from Obsidian Entertainment. This game promises to offer a unique experience, combining a structured, linear world with immersive combat and a strong emphasis on story. We explore how the weighty combat mechanics and the game's more focused, structured world differ from the sprawling open-world experiences many RPGs offer. One of the most exciting aspects of Avowed is its combat. The game leans into a real sense of weight and impact with every attack. The combat feels deliberate and strategic, with each strike and spell having a tangible effect on enemies. There's a heavy emphasis on tactical decision-making, with real-time action combined with elements that require players to pause and consider their next move. This blend of fluid combat and thoughtful strategy gives the game a sense of depth that is missing in many other RPGs.Unlike many modern RPGs that lean heavily into massive open worlds, Avowed presents a more linear, structured environment. The world is expansive but intentionally designed to guide players through rich environments with a strong narrative backbone. Instead of sprawling expanses with endless side missions, the game offers more focused exploration, which means every area has a purpose in the overall story. This design approach allows for more detailed, handcrafted locations and a deeper, more engaging experience where each moment feels important.Additionally, Avowed is being developed using Unreal Engine 5, which means players can expect stunning visuals and cutting-edge technology. The engine's capabilities allow for realistic lighting, detailed textures, and a world that feels alive and immersive. With UE5, the game promises to deliver smooth animations, lifelike environments, and impressive effects that will bring the world of Eora to life in ways we've never seen before. If you're a fan of RPGs with tactical combat, a structured world that doesn't overwhelm you, and cutting-edge visuals, Avowed could be your next big adventure. Tune in to see if it's a Game Pass or Pass!

On this episode of Random Encounter, we're talking about two of the most highly anticipated games of 2025!We've been eagerly awaiting Obsidian's answer to Skyrim for years, and Avowed is finally here. A spin-off of the beloved CRPG Pillars of Eternity series, Avowed replaces the isometric view and strategic "real-time-with-pause" combat with an FPS perspective. This week we are standing still and letting ants crawl all over us while we discuss “Lord of the Flies”! We're talking yet another Kim Manners bug episode, the very-bizarre and distracting Skyrim music, the star of the episode Dr. Rocky Branzino, and welcome Aaron Paul as a proto-Jesse Pinkman onto the show. We mansplain Syd Barrett to each other, think it would be more fun if Doggett loved The Dumbass Show, wonder how furiously Vince Gilligan was taking notes behind the scenes, and get excited about Brad hanging out with Skinner. And remember these wise words from Doggett: The bugs are gone! They're gone!Send us an email at scullynationpod@gmail.com or follow us on Instagram!
