Today, we've reached the end of our journey through the Book of Ephesians. We started the year with this sermon series and the idea of Getting back to Basics—the fundamentals of our faith. And through this journey we've learned so much about God and about how to live our lives for Him. In this final message, Pt 2 of Spiritual Warfare, we're going to talk about The Whole Armor of God—what it is, what it's for and how to use it. Thanks for listening. God bless you! And a happy and blessed Christmas to you and yours! To find out more about our church please go to www.whccnb.org.
The Book of Ephesians has two major divisions: Doctrine (chapters 1-3), and Duty (chapters 4-6:1-9). The first half exalts our position in Christ, while the second half exhorts us to put it into practice. We believe there's actually a third section of the book we should call spiritual warfare (chapter 6:10-24). Today, in Part 1, we're going to talk about Being Strong with the Lord and Standing Firm. Get out your Bibles and/or Bible Apps, open to Eph 6:10 and let's go! Thanks for listening. God bless you! And a happy and blessed Christmas to you and yours! Spiritual warfare, as presented in this sermon, is not merely a personal struggle against temptation but a corporate, intercessory battle fought through prayer, especially for spiritual leaders. The Apostle Paul, despite his apostolic authority, models dependence on prayer by requesting that believers intercede for him, not for physical deliverance, but for clarity in proclaiming the gospel and boldness in its declaration. This underscores the vital role of prayer in sustaining the ministry of preachers, teachers, and pastors, who are both targets of spiritual opposition and instruments of divine truth. The sermon emphasizes that prayer for leaders is not optional but a spiritual duty, a form of active warfare that strengthens the mission, protects against compromise, and fuels revival. It calls the church to pray regularly, specifically, spiritually, and corporately—recognizing that the effectiveness of the gospel depends not on human eloquence, but on the power of God activated through the prayers of His people.
When it comes to spiritual warfare, we don't fight for victory, we fight from victory. On today's episode of Loving Truth, Pastor Mike and Connor dive into the topic of Spiritual warfare. What it is, what it isn't and how Christians should approach the reality of it.
The sermon explores the concept of humanity being created in God's likeness, emphasizing the body, spirit, and soul as reflections of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, respectively. It traces the loss of this likeness through sin, resulting in a defiled body and a separated spirit, but highlights God's unwavering desire for restoration and reconciliation. Drawing from Genesis, the message underscores the necessity of faith and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ as the only path to regaining this divine image, ultimately promising eternal life and a future paradise where believers will be transformed into Christ's likeness and dwell in His presence.
The sermon emphasizes striving for perfection, not in the sense of sinlessness, but as a state of completeness and unity reflecting God's nature. Drawing from Genesis, it explores the concept of being perfect in person, aligning one's body and spirit with Christ's likeness, and perfect in place, recognizing God's intended purpose and guarding against external influences. Ultimately, it calls for a life of purpose, where individuals yield to God's guidance, embrace their roles, and seek to fulfill their intended purpose, ultimately mirroring God's design for individuals and relationships.
The sermon explores the creation of humanity as a deliberate act of God, emphasizing that humans are fashioned in the likeness of the Trinity: the body reflecting Christ, the spirit mirroring the Holy Spirit, and the soul originating from the Father. It highlights the intentional design of this likeness, emphasizing that individuals possess a spirit meant to be filled by the Holy Spirit, a soul with purpose, and a body reflecting Christ. The message challenges listeners to recognize and safeguard this divine likeness, avoiding influences that distort it and instead investing their lives in service to God, ultimately finding purpose and fulfillment in aligning with His will.
Spiritual warfare is real, and the battleground is our mind. In this message, we open Ephesians 6:10–11 and learn what it means to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. So much of what people believe about Satan, demons, and angels comes from opinion, culture, or social media. But Scripture tells a different story, one that reveals both the enemy's tactics and God's power.
The sermon explores the revelation and creation of God's likeness in humanity, emphasizing the importance of progressive conformity to Jesus Christ. Drawing from Genesis, it examines the triune nature of God and the creation of man as a spirit, soul, and body, all reflecting aspects of the divine. It addresses the degeneration of this likeness through deception and sin, highlighting the separation from God and each other, and underscores the need for individuals to invest their lives purposefully, trusting God and resisting the devil's influence to ensure a life of eternal significance and reflection of Christ's character.
The sermon explores the foundational concept of humanity as a triune being – body, soul, and spirit – mirroring the divine nature of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It emphasizes understanding one's identity and potential, arguing that many Christians underestimate their resources, particularly the Lord, and fail to grasp the significance of spiritual warfare. Drawing from Genesis, the message highlights the importance of recognizing God's likeness within individuals and the need to discipline the spirit to resist demonic influences, ultimately calling for a surrender to the Holy Spirit to restore the original divine image and become sons of God.
The sermon emphasizes humanity's creation in God's likeness, exploring the interconnectedness of spirit, soul, and body as reflections of the Trinity – spirit mirroring the Holy Spirit, the body representing the Son, and the soul embodying the Father. It stresses the importance of stewardship over the body, recognizing it as a temple of the Holy Spirit, and encourages a mindful approach to thoughts and actions, resisting influences that compromise this divine image. Ultimately, the message calls for a life surrendered to God's will, prioritizing spiritual renewal and recognizing the accountability for spirit, soul, and body in the coming judgment.
Pastor Bob concluded his sermon series with a powerful and inspiring message titled "Spiritual Warfare: The Invisible War – Standing Strong, The Battle Has Been Won," leading us through Ephesians 6 and encouraging us to stand firm in the strength of the Lord. He reminded us that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces, and encouraged us to wear the full armor of God—truth, righteousness, and faith—to resist the devil's schemes. Emphasizing humble confidence, Pastor Bob assured us that even in weakness, our strength comes from God's power. The message concluded with a call to live a life that honors God, walking in love, unity, and obedience to reflect His light and overcome temptation.
This past Sunday, we gathered to hear Pastor Bob's powerful message, "Spiritual Warfare: The Invisible War – Prayer, How We Play Offense." Focusing on Ephesians 6:10–18, Pastor Bob emphasized the importance of putting on the full armor of God to stand against spiritual forces of evil. He reminded us that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against unseen powers—and that prayer is a vital offensive weapon in this fight. We were also encouraged to embrace our church's mission of becoming fully devoted followers of Jesus, rooted in our identity in Christ, equipped with God's strength, and engaged in prayerful, Spirit-led lives.
Pastor Bob's message, "Spiritual Warfare: Dressed for Victory," continues our series on Ephesians 6. He reminded us that while the battle is already won through Christ, we must still put on the full armor of God to stand firm against the enemy. Pastor Bob emphasized the importance of spiritual discernment, balancing the Word and the Spirit, to recognize truth and experience the Holy Spirit's work. Drawing from Job's story, he encouraged us to endure trials for God's greater glory, even when we don't understand them. He likened life's struggles to “swimming through the jellyfish,” urging us to persevere with assurance that we are fully equipped and protected by God's armor.
One of the most controversial subjects in Christianity, at least in the west, is the concept of spiritual warfare. Some believe it doesn't even exist. Others believe it's real but has nothing to do with us. Still, others believe we are intimately involved with it.It may be surprising to you to know that spiritual warfare is treated as a reality in the book of Revelation! From monsters that arise from the earth to each church having an "angel", the spiritual realm seems to litter much of this incredible book. Because of this, we gotta talk about it!So join us for part 1 of our 3 part series on spiritual warfare! In this episode we'll lay out two key points to understanding spiritual warfare: that God has created a diverse pantheon of spiritual beings, and they were created by Him to rule with Him in the unseen realm. Thanks for joining us, let's get into it :)
