Fraud in Minnesota is now under intense scrutiny on Capitol Hill, as state Republicans tell Congress that massive schemes went unchecked for years despite repeated warnings from whistleblowers. Lawmakers during a hearing on Wednesday focused on allegations tied to pandemic-era programs, with testimony raising new questions about what state officials knew and when. Republican Minnesota House Speaker Lisa Demuth, who is now running for governor, joins the Rundown to discuss how she believes Minnesota state officials had been ignoring or actively suppressing investigations into the alleged fraud. The U.S. military went into Venezuela. Could Greenland be next? President Trump says the America needs the icy territory, which is a self-governing Danish territory, for national security purposes. Our allies, including Denmark, are pushing back against the administration's comments about seizing or even buying the island. Michael Allen, a managing director and partner at Beacon Global Strategies and a former special assistant to President George W. Bush at the National Security Council, explains the strategic value of Greenland for the U.S. and the possibility of Trump using military action to take control of it. In "The Schemes of the Devil" based on Ephesians 6:10-12, Jon Harris urges believers to recognize the reality and danger of Satan, a deceptive liar and destroyer who blinds unbelievers and actively tempts Christians toward sin, division, unforgiveness, pride, and false beliefs, yet whose power is limited and ultimately defeated. While unbelievers remain helpless under his dominion and should fear him, Christians need not fear but must take him seriously, staying alert to his tailored schemes that exploit personal weaknesses through lies about others, self, God, and even Satan himself. Victory comes not in our own strength but by continually putting on the full armor of God (truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, the Word of God, and prayer), depending on the Lord's might to stand firm against spiritual forces of evil in ongoing spiritual warfare.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/conversations-that-matter8971/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Schemes, scams, and spectacularly stupid greed! This special greatest hits episode of History's Greatest Idiots celebrates the season with four legendary criminals who proved that audacity and terrible judgment make the perfect con artist cocktail.First up: Charles Ponzi, the Italian immigrant whose name became synonymous with financial fraud, promising impossible returns while building a house of cards so unstable it makes modern crypto schemes look sophisticated. Then we meet Howard Marks, the Welsh drug smuggler who turned marijuana trafficking into a global enterprise, juggling fake passports, MI6 connections, and enough aliases to confuse even himself before his spectacular arrest. We'll explore John Factor, the mafia conman whose brother founded Max Factor cosmetics while he specialized in extortion and fake kidnappings, somehow parlaying criminal notoriety into Las Vegas respectability. Finally, Melissa Caddick rounds out our line-up: the Australian fraudster whose Ponzi scheme funded designer shoes and luxury living until she vanished, leaving behind one of true crime's most bizarre mysteries. From postal reply coupons to disappearing feet on beaches, these criminal masterminds prove that sometimes the biggest cons collapse when greed meets absolutely zero exit strategy.Join Lev and Derek as they count down the greatest hits of history's most gloriously idiotic fraudsters.Perfect for true crime fans, scam history buffs, and anyone who's ever wondered how someone can be simultaneously brilliant and catastrophically stupid.https://www.patreon.com/HistorysGreatestIdiotshttps://www.instagram.com/historysgreatestidiotsArtist: Sarah Cheyhttps://www.fiverr.com/sarahcheyAnimation: Daniel Wilsonhttps://www.instagram.com/wilson_the_wilson/Music: Andrew Wilsonhttps://www.instagram.com/andrews_electric_sheepWant to create live streams like this? In this single-player episode of Challenge Accepted, Frank bundles up with the winter classic Fargo and breaks down why this 1996 Coen Brothers film still hits so hard. From Jerry's desperate spiral and Gaear's cold brutality to Marge Gunderson's calm, quietly heroic presence, Frank walks through the story, performances, music, and snow-covered Midwest setting that make the movie timeless. He also talks about how the Fargo TV series connects back to the film, why the woodchipper scene has become legend, and how the Coens turn empty white fields into one of the most effective "characters" in the movie. To wrap it up, Frank previews what is coming next for Challenge Accepted, including Thomas' return and their favourite hits from 2025 and what they are excited for in 2026. Timestamps & Topics 00:00 – Winter vibes and Fargo comfort viewing Frank sets the scene with Northern California fog, winter chill, and why Fargo is his go-to snowy murder mystery comfort movie. 01:00 – First time watching Fargo and pacing expectations Memories of seeing the movie young, how it felt like "just a murder show," and why the slow, deliberate pacing is part of the Coen Brothers' magic. 02:30 – Film basics and the Fargo TV series connection Release year, director credits, and how the Fargo anthology series riffs on and literally connects back to the film's events and missing money. 03:30 – Cast breakdown and three parallel storylines William H. Macy as Jerry, Frances McDormand as Marge, Steve Buscemi as Carl, Peter Stormare as Gaear, and how the film tracks three intertwining plotlines. 05:00 – Snow, accent, and music as atmosphere Why the frozen Midwest, heavy accents, and sparse score make the world feel harsh, lonely, and weirdly cozy at the same time. 06:45 – Jerry, Carl, and Gaear: three very different disasters Deep dive on Jerry's "it is in the mail" life, Carl as the talky hustler, and Gaear as a true psychopath who treats killing like flipping a switch. 12:00 – The kidnapping, first murders, and tension spike Gene's abduction, the traffic stop gone wrong, and how Jerry's shady car deals accidentally trigger a chain of violence on a lonely snowy road. 15:30 – Enter Marge Gunderson: paladin of Brainerd At 33 minutes in, Marge arrives, pregnant and no-nonsense, bringing warmth, competence, and quiet brilliance to the investigation. 18:00 – Marge's detective work and local culture The iconic interviews, the accents, Norm's duck painting, and how Marge investigates with humility, humor, and calm logic instead of macho posturing. 20:30 – Cabin tension and criminals on borrowed time Carl and Gaear stuck together with Gene at the cabin, rubbing each other the wrong way as they wait on Jerry's increasingly doomed plan. 22:30 – The parking garage drop and everything falling apart Wade steps in, the snowy rooftop showdown, shots fired, and the money suddenly spinning out of everyone's control. 25:00 – Buried money and series tie-in Carl finds out the ransom is much bigger than expected, buries most of it in the snow, and inadvertently sets up a major event for the Fargo series. 27:30 – The woodchipper and Marge's big break Marge follows the trail of the tan Sierra, stumbles on the cabin, and discovers one of cinema's most infamous images: Gaear and the woodchipper. 30:00 – "All for a little bit of money" – theme and meaning Frank unpacks Marge's final drive with Gaear, the idea of wasting lives for cash, and why her simple, content life feels like the real victory. 34:00 – Craft, cinematography, and character realism How the Coens use wide snowy shots and tight close-ups, the way performances feel lived-in, and why Jerry might be the most "real" character. 38:00 – Who should watch Fargo and rewatch value Why Fargo is perfect for people who love character-driven films and details, and maybe not ideal for pure popcorn-action fans. 39:30 – What is next for Challenge Accepted Frank teases one more solo movie, Thomas' return, their favorite movies of 2025, and what they are excited for in 2026. Key Takeaways Fargo is less about big action and more about slow-building tension, character choices, and how small lies spiral into chaos. Jerry Lundegaard is a painfully relatable kind of failure, constantly juggling bills, cutting corners, and convincing himself one more scheme will fix everything. Carl and Gaear represent two sides of criminal energy: the chatty hustler and the emotionless killer, both stuck inside a plan they can no longer control. Marge Gunderson is the moral center of the film, solving the case with patience, kindness, and competence while staying grounded in her everyday life. The snowy Midwest is practically a character: empty fields, heavy accents, and minimal music create a feeling of isolation and inevitability. The film's structure shows three storylines colliding in unexpected ways, where throwaway details from Jerry's life cause deadly problems for everyone else. Fargo holds up because it feels timeless and specific at the same time, with characters who seem like they existed before the movie and will keep existing afterward. This episode also sets up what is coming next for Challenge Accepted, including Thomas' return and a look ahead at the standout movies of 2025 and the hype building for 2026. Memorable Quotes "Jerry is living the 'it is in the mail' life right now." "He is just one more scheme away from fixing everything… at least in his own head." "Marge is a paladin among warriors. While Jerry juggles, she is stacking dominoes." "So few movies do so much with so little. Just snow, empty fields, and one guy in a red jacket can hit harder than a city full of explosions." "He is not too evil and not too perfect. He is just shitty enough to be human." Call to Action If you enjoyed this breakdown of Fargo, make sure to follow the show so you never miss an episode. This week on TechTime Radio, a state-backed cyber scheme hiding in plain sight. That's where we start: identity rental, deepfaked interviews, and remote tooling that let North Korean operators slip into real jobs at real companies. We unpack how recruiters lure engineers, what data they demand, and the quiet ways compromised devices become corporate backdoors. Then we get practical—clear verification steps for HR, device attestation, network controls, and a tighter handshake between hiring and security teams. From the office to the bookstore, we shift to the uneasy rise of AI-written titles and the complicated dance between reader demand, author craft, and copyright risk. We talk labels, discovery, and the thin line between helpful tools and hollow literature. Policy heats up as Australia forces a sweeping under-16 social media lockout. We parse the benefits, the whiplash, and the risk of driving teens to unmoderated spaces, and outline smarter safeguards like verified age gates, default privacy, and digital literacy. Then comes the jaw-dropper: researchers discover that stylized poetry can jailbreak safety systems across multiple chatbots. We explore why “style attacks” work, where current guardrails fail, and how to harden models with adversarial training, independent moderation, and server-side checks. Entertainment gets its own tremor as a rumored Netflix–Warner Bros.–HBO deal sparks questions about catalog control, competition, and what it means for your monthly subscriptions. And yes, we leave room for levity: the London velodrome's accidental “sound effect,” a raccoon's ill-fated whiskey tasting, and a cautionary tale of an AI agent that wiped a developer's entire drive without a confirmation. We close with our whiskey finals—WhistlePig PiggyBack Bourbon versus Bakta 1928 Rye—and crown a champion after a tight, flavor-first showdown. Today's sermon focused on Ephesians 6:10-11, where Paul exhorts believers to “be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.” The message began with the stark reality of spiritual warfare, emphasizing that Christians are not passive spectators but active participants in God's kingdom. Using vivid analogies—like the hard-working farmer, the IKEA furniture builder, and the mountaineer—the sermon highlighted the necessity of partnering with God, not just relying on His sovereignty as an excuse for inaction. The armor of God is not for show; it's essential equipment for standing firm against the devil's schemes, which are subtle, persistent, and often disguised as good. The sermon closed with a call to vigilance, self-examination, and a reminder that compromise is a slow drift, not a sudden fall. Communion was presented as a time to reorient ourselves to God's truth and grace.

Federal prosecutors have charged dozens of people with defrauding Minnesota social programs since 2020, and recent reporting has highlighted the links between the fraud schemes and the Somali-American community. In November, a report authored by Ryan Thorpe and Christopher Rufo and published in City Journal — a periodical funded by the conservative think tank The Manhattan Institute — highlighted the fraud's concentration among the state's Somali community and claimed the funds were partially directed to the Somali-based terrorist group Al-Shabaab. On Monday, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that the agency would be opening an investigation into Gov. Tim Walz's (D) oversight of the programs beset by alleged fraud; the House Oversight Committee opened its own probe into the programs on Tuesday. "True wisdom and righteousness are highly prized—but exceedingly rare. In this sermon on Ecclesiastes 7:15–29, we explore Solomon's sobering yet hopeful teaching about human sinfulness, the scarcity of righteousness, and the ultimate value of fearing God.The world often assumes people are inherently good, or that small compromises are acceptable, but Scripture repeatedly shows that there is no one righteous on earth. Solomon uses practical examples—from speech and hypocrisy to sexual immorality—to demonstrate the pervasive sinfulness of mankind.Yet there is hope: through fear of the Lord, we are delivered from sin, justified by faith, and drawn into sanctification. All true wisdom, righteousness, and redemption are found in Christ, and only by turning to Him can we be truly wise and righteous. In this message, you will discover:• Why fearing God is the antidote to both pride and folly• The rarity and value of genuine righteousness• How human sinfulness is undeniable, yet salvation is offered through faith• The connection between wisdom, righteousness, and sanctification• How Christ embodies all wisdom and righteousness, giving hope for our lives"

Ben McChesney spent 25 years behind bars, serving time in more than a dozen state and federal prisons across the country — from low-level facilities to some of the toughest penitentiaries in America. His story is one of chaos, survival, and defiance. After being accused of stealing several pallets of firearms in what became one of the largest gun heists in his state, Ben went on the run to Mexico for two years before being captured. Acting as his own attorney, he fought multiple cases, beat a federal kidnapping charge, and survived years of violence and transfers across 14 federal prisons. Inside, he ran underground poker tables, fought predators, and lived by his own code. Raw, unfiltered, and brutally honest, Ben's story exposes the reality of long-term prison life, corruption, and what it truly takes to survive 25 years in the system. #LockedInWithIanBick #PrisonStories #TrueCrime #LifeInPrison #RedemptionStory #RealStories #PrisonLife #SurvivingPrison Thank you to BLUECHEW for sponsoring this episode: Visit https://bluechew.com/ and use promo code LOCKEDIN at checkout to get your first month of BlueChew & pay five bucks for shipping. Dive into a deep preview of the Packers' crucial matchup against the Eagles, where context reveals Philadelphia's hidden vulnerabilities despite their 6-2 record. From coaching changes to schematic weaknesses, this episode uncovers the real story behind both teams' seasons. Explores Eagles' offensive identity crisis under new coordinator Kevin Patullo, with stagnant plays and second-half collapses masking their red zone dominance. Compares Packers' top-tier EPA and success rates to Eagles' middling rankings, emphasizing context over negativity and the need to avoid critical mistakes. Highlights key players like Jalen Hurts' struggles vs. zone, Saquon Barkley's dip, and opportunities for Christian Watson and Romeo Dobbs. This episode is brought to you by PrizePicks!
