Michael McGlinn is our guest on this episode. He is a husband and father, film maker, recording artist, founder of Sistine Films and the Adore Him Daily website. Michael played football at Notre Dame under the legendary coach Lou Holtz, although a life of football was not ultimately Michael's calling. While at Notre Dame he developed an interior life, a devotion to the Rosary, and a deep feeling of peace.   Michael left Notre Dame drawn to music and spent time in Nashville in search of his dream. He is a multi-instrumentalist (voice, guitar, bass, piano) and played with legendary musicians such as Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine, The Allman Brothers Band, and Genesis. Michael's life changed when he was given the opportunity to shoot a film in the Holy Land. This and many other experiences led him to develop a deep devotion to our Lord as well as his Catholic faith. Michael credits his success to attending Mass, Eucharistic Adoration (Holy Hour), praying the Rosary, devotion to the Divine Mercy and Sr. Faustina. The Holy Hour helps Michael ground his busy life by dedicating each day to the Lord. Michael encourages us to dedicate each of our days to the Lord. He challenges us to start each day in adoration of our Lord through the practice of a Holy Hour. Michael's passionate love for our Lord and the abundant fruits of his labors are a testament to the efficacy of this practice. Through his ministries and films, Michael hopes and prays to bring many people closer to our Lord. Bible Study: Jeremiah 17:5-10 – The verb here for “trust” means “to rely on”. This may seem harsh but this is good advice. Jesus did not entrust himself to them, for he knew all people in John 2. To expect from a human being only what you can get from God is idolatry. You can trust human beings to be human but not God. (10:24) Luke 16:19-31 – This is a joke, this is funny. Who is Jesus talking about, he is talking about the high priest Caiaphas who dressed in purple linens. The high priests were supposed to be descendants of Zadok, but the Maccabees coopted the Monarchy and High Priesthood to which they had no right. Jesus is talking about the Pharisees and he is telling a story of a Sadducee in Hell. Isn’t it curious that Jesus calls his poor man Lazarus? Fr. Relevant Radio is all about "bringing Christ to the world through the media," and that includes reaching those in prison. The Big News? Relevant Radio has teamed up with Edovo, a nonprofit that provides digital education tools in prisons, to make Catholic content accessible to over 1,100 correctional facilities across the U.S. Here’s how it works: Inmates can access Relevant Radio’s content: like Fr. Rocky’s Eucharistic Encounters and The Saints Podcast, right on secure tablets provided through Edovo. In just one month, 25,000 sessions of Relevant Radio content were accessed by inmates. Though federal prisons aren’t on board yet, there’s hope this outreach will expand even further. Why does this matter? Because everyone deserves a shot at grace, even those who’ve lost their freedom. Patrick reminds us of Matthew 25: “I was in prison, and you visited me.” Prison can be a dark, isolating place, and yet, God’s light can still break through the bars. Patrick shares a heart-touching letter from Michael, an inmate in New Jersey, who listens to Relevant Radio daily. Michael prays the Chaplet of Divine Mercy with Drew Mariani and joins in the Family Rosary Across America every evening. He even sent a handmade Christmas card to the team (with some seriously impressive cursive handwriting; Patrick was impressed!). Michael’s words say it all: “Relevant Radio has changed my life.” He and many others are finding community, hope, and a deeper relationship with Christ... right from their cells.
