It is when I run out of my strength that God shows up. In this sixth and final of the series on 2 Corinthians, Pastor Chris shares a beautiful treatment by the late theologian Marva Dawn on a pivotal passage in chapter 12. We took a close look at some of the Greek text, but the main focus was on another, refreshing possibility of a translation that puts even more emphasis on God's power showing up in our lives. And here's a hint: weakness is the very place that Jesus tabernacles. We also talked about weakness being the way forward for Christians especially in a time of contentious politics and potential societal unrest. In this episode, Meghan Larissa Good and I have a great discussion around themes from her latest book Divine Gravity. How can we enter into a new reformation that helps the body of Christ look more like Jesus? Jesus can lead us into this new place and time. We can disagree with each other and still have unity. We can follow the discernment of the Holy Spirit. We can have a cross-shaped power which is a power under and not a power over. We can join Jesus in the reconciliation of all things. Jesus is making all things new. So, let's join Him and get on the ride. So, join us as we discuss whether or not we are in a new reformation that will help us look more like Jesus.Meghan Larissa Good is lead pastor at Trinity Mennonite Church (Phoenix, AZ). She is a frequent preacher and lecturer at churches and universities across the country, speaking on subjects such as biblical interpretation, contemporary preaching, and Christianity's 'next reformation.' In this series we're looking with anticipation at the reality of God becoming flesh at Christmas with a particular focus today as to what it means that Christ made His dwelling among us.
Bible Verse of the Day: Scripture quotes for encouragement & strengthen your faith in God's Word
Welcome to Bible verse of the day. I am Reverend Joseph Sanford and we have one extra day. This prologue goes 14 verses so we're gonna do an extra day of bonus day as we continue with that 14th verse, and the word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory the glory as of a father‘s only son, full of grace and truth what a great finishing line to wrap up what it is we're focused on this Christmas season as we continue into the rest of the year this word becoming flesh and lived among us that's word for lived. It is really tented or tabernacle the among us dwell. Sometimes how we hear it the point is it goes where we go where children of God are moving wherever it is we we take this message and this power and I don't just mean physically but where we take it the word comes with us. Jesus came in flesh, but continues to dwell among us in the spirit, so that we may continue to see the glory of God, we may continue to see that grace and truth, no matter where it is we go. Message brought to you by Rev. Joseph Sanford of Sanford Curriculum (Student ministry resources available on The Sunday School Store written by he and Lauren Sanford).
