Two goals, three red cards, and the biggest tournament in football history has officially exploded into life! Welcome to FUT IN REVIEW | World Cup Daily. The wait is finally over, and the daily grind is officially on. Shaq and John dive straight into the drama of Day 1 at the World Cup 2026, fresh off a chaotic opening night at a packed Aztec Stadium in Mexico. If you thought this tournament would start slowly, think again. The opening match produced more cards than it did goals, and we have some massive, unfiltered thoughts on the tactical setups, the refereeing, and the introduction of a brand-new segment format: The Ballers, The Bottlers, and The Drama. We break down everything that went down on Day 1:The Aztec Awkwardness: Why the opening ceremony circle lineup for the players looked incredibly weird on the pitch.South Africa's Tactical Disaster: John slams Bafana Bafana's management for a technically abysmal 5-3-2 setup that tried to play Tiki-Taka from the back with giant players who couldn't pass. The Red Card Controversy: Shaq and John go head-to-head on Montes' late red card for Mexico. Was it a clear goal-scoring opportunity or a heavily forced decision by a referee under immense pressure? (Plus a look at a Premier League precedent from last season!).Blockbuster in the Second Game: Why South Korea vs. Czechia was a tactical masterpiece, featuring an exhausted Son Heung-min and a standout PSV goalkeeper.Baller of the Day: Shaq goes from the heart with Raúl Jiménez's emotional hometown goal 6 years after his fractured skull disaster, while John backs Feyenoord's In-beom Hwang for a flawless, masterclass performance. The Commercial Hydration Rant: Why turning football into four 25-minute quarters with television commercials during water breaks is deeply concerning.Listen Instantly & Get Early Access: Want to hear our daily recaps the exact second we finish recording? Jon Hwang came to running the way a lot of us do, sideways and by accident. A 5K with coworkers turned into a half marathon, and then a rough year in 2017 where a  relationship ended and his mom was diagnosed with cancer solidified running as the thing that got him through each day.By the time Jon signed up for the San Francisco Marathon, he had already met his wife through Spartan racing, tackled obstacle courses together, and built years of trail miles between them including a full 50K ultra. So why did 26.2 miles on a road feel more terrifying than anything he had ever done in the mud? That's what this one is all about!Follow along with Jon: @jhwang on Instagram / @hwangsmiles on TikTokFollow along with the show:

Or, the end of the world is no excuse for sloppy work One morning when I was nine, my dad called me over to his computer. He wanted to show me this amazing Korean scientist who had managed to clone stem cells, and who was developing treatments to let people with spinal cord injuries – people like my dad – walk again on their own two legs. I don't remember exactly what he said next, or what I said back. I have a sense that I was excited too, and that I was upset when I learned the United States had banned this kind of research. Unfortunately, his research didn't pan out. No such treatment arrived. My dad still walks on crutches. Years later, I learned that the scientist, Hwang Woo-Suk, had been exposed as a fraud. In 2004, Hwang published a paper in Science claiming that his team had cloned a human embryo and derived stem cells from it (the first time anyone had done this). A year later, in 2005, he published a second paper claiming that they managed to repeat this feat eleven more times, producing 11 patient-specific stem cell lines for patients with type 1 [...] --- First published: April 19th, 2026 Source: https://www.lesswrong.com/posts/GNjDC6jtjr2iiE45i/quality-matters-most-when-stakes-are-highest --- Narrated by TYPE III AUDIO.

What does it take to build a profitable hydrotherapy spa brand in three different markets and scale it to $10 million in annual revenue? In this episode, Harmony Oschefski and Cedar Hwang share how the bodhi spa grew from a bold idea sparked in Maui to a multi location wellness company rooted in contrast therapy, operational discipline, and community driven growth. We explore how sauna culture, cold plunge therapy, and a thoughtfully designed water journey can become the foundation of a scalable spa business model. This conversation goes beyond wellness trends and dives into infrastructure, financing, Department of Health compliance, maintenance systems, staffing strategy, and brand positioning in a rapidly growing wellness economy. What You'll Learn: How to design a hydrotherapy spa business model that balances water journey revenue with massage and facial services Why contrast therapy and cold plunge trends are only sustainable when supported by serious infrastructure and maintenance systems What it takes to secure SBA financing for a first time concept and how to successfully appeal a denial How to scale from one spa location to three while maintaining brand consistency and operational excellence Why weekly pool draining, state of the art filtration systems, and a dedicated maintenance manager protect long term profitability Episode Highlights: 03:12 – Growing up with sauna culture and cold plunges in Nova Scotia 11:48 – The Maui moment that sparked the bodhi spa business idea 18:27 – Getting denied for SBA financing and how they successfully appealed 26:04 – What a hydrotherapy water journey includes and why contrast therapy works 34:15 – Rebuilding the entire operating model during COVID to satisfy Department of Health requirements 41:22 – Scaling to Providence and Norwood and what changes with each new market 47:36 – Why weekly pool draining and a full time maintenance manager are non negotiable 53:18 – Reaching $10 million in revenue and building infrastructure for long term brand sustainability   Meet the Guests: Harmony Oschefski is Co Owner and Managing Partner of the bodhi spa. With a background in life sciences and functional health, she brings a complementary wellness perspective to spa development and operational strategy. Cedar Hwang is Co Owner and Managing Partner of the bodhi spa and a former 12 meter yacht captain. Her leadership experience and operational discipline inform the systems, staffing, and execution behind the brand's growth. Together, they have built three bodhi spa locations across New England and employ nearly 100 team members. Tools, Frameworks, and Strategies Mentioned: The bodhi spa Water Journey hydrotherapy circuit Contrast therapy using sauna and cold plunge sequencing SBA financing and structured loan appeal strategy Dedicated maintenance management with weekly full system resets Infrastructure first scaling model with General Managers at each location State of the art filtration, HVAC, and pool monitoring systems Gender inclusive design and dual temperature cold plunge strategy Closing Insight: The bodhi spa's growth story shows that the wellness industry rewards both inspiration and precision. Sauna culture and cold plunge therapy may attract attention, but long term success depends on disciplined maintenance, regulatory compliance, staff training, and operational infrastructure. As Harmony shares in the episode, the goal was never just to open a spa. It was to build a company that could stand on its own.   Looking for expert advice in Spa Consulting, with live training and online learning? How AI Created an Unprecedented Memory Chip Crisis

A surprising new bottleneck has emerged in the global AI infrastructure build-out: memory chips. Major manufacturers including SK Hynix, Micron and Samsung Electronics have effectively run out of capacity, sparking a scramble among customers to secure supply. Contract prices for certain DRAM chips surged 78% in the fourth quarter alone, with another 50% jump forecast by March. This price shock is creating a squeeze — especially for makers of smartphones, PCs and automobiles — as memory suppliers prioritize high-margin AI chips over "legacy" components. The result is a widening supply gap that threatens to leave consumer electronics companies struggling to secure essential parts through 2027. MS Hwang, research director at Counterpoint Research, joins John Lee and Bloomberg News technology editor Vlad Savov on the Asia Centric podcast. They unpack the dynamics of the shortage and how Chinese upstarts are racing to fill the void.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

When a white actor was recently announced to replace Darren Criss in Maybe Happy Ending, it sparked a fresh wave of debate over racial casting on Broadway. For Asian Americans like playwright David Henry Hwang and actor B.D. Wong, it felt like déjà vu, echoing a controversy they had spoken out against more than 30 years ago with Miss Saigon. That blockbuster musical became the center of a storm back in 1990 when Jonathan Pryce was chosen to reprise his Eurasian character from the London production when it transferred to Broadway. This decision ignited protests, ultimatums, and the first major reckoning with yellowface in American theater. In this episode, we look back at Miss Saigon, the clash between producer Cameron Mackintosh and Actors' Equity, and how that moment set the stage for Hwang's satirical play Face Value—and continues to reverberate today. --- Click here for a transcript and list of all resources used. My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Kevin Hwang, author of the book The Regression Strain. Kevin O. Hwang, MD, is a professor of internal medicine at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston where he sees patients and teaches residents. His academic work has appeared in leading medical journals. He attended Rice University and The University of Texas Medical Branch. He is a member of the Alliance of Independent Authors (ALLi) and the Independent Author Network (IAN).   Nothing excites him more than chicken enchiladas, index cards, and appropriately sized packaging.   In my book review, I stated The Regression Strain is a medical thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The novel starts with Dr. Peter Palmer joining the medical team aboard the cruise ship, Paradise. Unfortunately, as he soon learns, the ship's moniker is as far from the truth as it gets - nor is the laid back job helping happy vacationers laid back!   The novel takes place after COVID restrictions have lifted and life has gotten back to normal. However, when people start coming into the clinic, first with minor respiratory symptoms, and later with aggression in its many forms, Peter begins to suspect a virus. Slowly, everyone in his new life begins to change - and his hope for a rest from the anxiety of his life turns to fear and dread.   Is the virus natural or man-made? Is someone behind its spread? Can he stop the rest of the ship from getting sick? Will anything he does be 'too little, too late'?   This is a quick read that will have you breathlessly turning the page to find out if Peter can save first the ship - but more importantly, the world.   Subscribe to Online for Authors to learn about more great books! https://www.youtube.com/@onlineforauthors?sub_confirmation=1   Join the Novels N Latte Book Club community to discuss this and other books with like-minded readers: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3576519880426290   You can follow Author Kevin Hwang Website: https://www.kevinhwang.com/ IG: @kevinhwangmdauthor X:@KevinHwangMD LinkedIn: @kevinhwangmd   Purchase The Regression Strain on Amazon: Paperback: https://amzn.to/4k8MW7G Ebook: https://amzn.to/4lsYR1b   Teri M Brown, Author and Podcast Host: https://www.terimbrown.com FB: @TeriMBrownAuthor IG: @terimbrown_author X: @terimbrown1   Want to be a guest on Online for Authors? John is joined by Renny Hwang, Deputy General Counsel and Head of Litigation at OpenAI and former Head of Litigation at Google. They discuss the legal issues surrounding AI technology. Renny explains that he believes that existing law is well equipped to deal with copyright, fair use and product liability issues raised by AI, but the challenge the industry faces is that most people do not understand how AI works. He also explains that he believes other legal issues, such as corporate transparency and governance, might require new regulations. John and Renny discuss the likely impact of patent and trade secret law on the AI industry in light of the industry's tendency to publish significant research and findings. They also discuss the effect of the absence of comprehensive federal AI regulation, including the difficulty companies have in to implementing different compliance regimes for different jurisdictions and the possibility that the European AI Act will become the de facto default standard for AI regulation globally. Finally, Renny explains that OpenAI is a mission-driven company focused on building safe and beneficial AI and that commitment is reflected in OpenAI's Board-level Safety Committee.Podcast Link: Law-disrupted.fmHost: John B.
