On today's episode of All in the Industry®, host Shari Bayer has a special “On the Road” show from Bali, Indonesia with two exclusive interviews. First, Shari sits down with critically acclaimed Chef/Owner Will Goldfarb of Room4Dessert, a dessert tasting menu restaurant on the outskirts of Ubud. Will, who has worked in the kitchens of Ferran Adria, Tetsuya Wakuda, Paul Liebrandt, and Morimoto, among others, is originally from New York State. He trained at Le Cordon Bleu before working at elBulli as Pastry Chef. Will opened Room4Dessert in New York prior to relocating the restaurant to Bali. He has a new book, Room for Dessert (Phaidon), and is featured on his own episode of the Netflix series, Chef’s Table: Pastry (4/13/18). Next, Shari chats with Chef/Co-Owner Ray Adriansyah of Locavore, a tasting menu restaurant featuring modern cuisine with the finest locally sourced seasonal produce. Ray founded Locavore in the heart of Ubud with his business partner, Chef Eelke Plasmeijer. The restaurant has been named one of Asia's Best 50 Restaurants. Today's show also features Shari's PR tip, Speed Rounds, and Solo Dining experience at Kaum at Potato Head Beach Club in Seminyak, Bali. Here we go again! Chappaquiddick is this week's full review. Is it overly polemic or agenda-driven? Just how much work does Jason Clarke do to elevate this thing? Bob mini reviews Deadpool (the first one, people!). Logan mini reviews Chef's Table (season 4--the one about the pastry chefs). In weekend picks, Logan mentions 13 Reasons Why and Fahrenheit 451. Bob talks about Book Club and First Reformed, but pulls the trigger and picks Deadpool 2. Let's rock! Follow us on Twitter: @LoganBeaux and @BobCaswell
This week we’ve got a contrarian in our midst while we discuss a couple food shows on Netflix. Chef’s Table: Pastry and Ugly Delicious. Can you figure out who is feeding us false opinions? We had some trouble weeding through it, find out if we came to the right conclusion.
In Episode 10 of PrunerTV, @adamlustick stops by to talk about Comedy Central’s dark comedy, @Corporate and waxes nostalgic over his old sketch comedy pal Donald Glover. Aaron also talks about FOX’s Lethal Weapon problems, drools over Chef’s Table: Pastry, and raves about the triumphant return of Westworld to HBO … enjoy!
The snark level is high this week on the podcast, with several series prompting side-eyes from Noel and Kate. First up, we look at the week’s comedy and reality TV, including a dramatic black-ish, the season finale of The Rundown with Robin Thede, another baby-centric Superstore, and of course, RuPaul’s Drag Race. Then we head over to drama and genre, including the satisfying season finale of Black Lightning, questionable character choice-filled episodes of The Flash, iZombie, and The Good Fight, musical eps of Supergirl (alas, only karaoke) and Riverdale, and a catchup with the still spooky The Terror. Afterward, it’s time for our season spotlight, as we dive in with the highs and lows of the at times charming, at times insufferable Chef’s Table: Pastry.
