This one starts off with some dubwise stuff early on via Roger Robinson, the mighty Ishan Sound and the weirdo dancehall of STILL. Grimey bits from folks like Bloom raise the temp, with newish Wiley and Theresa May bashing stuff from Dizzee before we get rightly garaged off our face with Riddim Commission and Zed Bias and some UK Funky bawl outs. There's bits from Luca Lonzano, newish shit from West Norwood Cassette Library via Sneaker Club Social and a cheeky chipmunked vocal tinged garage banger from Major Grave on Never Ready. Two of our fave killer MC’s get an outing with Lady Stush and Mz Bratt carpet bombing the place. Some ridiculously heavy stuff from Hitmakerchinx, and a hook up between Dub Phizix and 90s dancehall don dadas Ward 21 too. Leading us to buff remixes of old skool bangers from Papa San, Tenor Fly and a Sweetie Irie classic about smashing the National Front at the end. As we approach the month of December it seems fitting to reflect on the nature of longevity. This year has flown by awfully fast and very soon we will be entering 2017. There seems to be more new labels emerging every week and the electronic music scene is vast and sprawling. It is important to reflect on the importance of those who have shown commitment over time. One of the cornerstones of British electronic music has always been the melting point created by different musical styles from different cultures all rubbing up against each other on our tiny little island in the North Sea. A good example of this can be found in the output of Bob Bhamra's West Norwood Cassette Library. Initially focusing on wanting to put out his own take on dubstep the label quickly morphed and expanded to encompass pretty much every aspect of UK dance music. PanLeft is the second artist to be launching his debut via BBB Records and like REID before him his music has a conflicting sonic quality that is both foreboding and uplifting with distant echo's and delays creating a sense of isolation whilst earthy basslines and pads envelop the listner in a gathering gloom, before sizzling synths, sharp beats and elevating vocals pierce the gathering darkness. PanLeft's - Electrika / HRTS is set to drop April 9th, and in anticipation of his debut single he has crafted a superbly judged mix of beats that seamlessly combines heavy bass, sparse percussion and strong melodies throughout. Highly Recommended. Tracklist 01. West Norwood Cassette Library – Blonde on Blonde (Pearson sound remix) 02. Machine Drum – DDD 03. Boddika & Joy Orbison – Swims 04. Kashii – House Culture 05.
