Hailing from Australia and now based in Berlin, Leah Marie is part of a new wave of artists shaping the deeper end of the electronic spectrum. Her sound moves between deep, progressive and melodic house, with a touch of cerebral techno; built on groove, restraint and a strong sense of space. In the booth, she favours flow over flash, guiding sets with careful pacing and an instinct for atmosphere. Her productions and remixes have found a home on labels include Mango Alley to Musique de Lune Noir, with further releases on the horizon. Along the way, she's taken that sound beyond Berlin, playing across Germany, Portugal, the Netherlands and the UK. In 2025, she co-founded Kontrast. with Dilby and Dowden: a Berlin-based event centred on the deeper, groove-led corners of house music. For more than 15 years, Of Norway has been the joint project of Vegard “Lil' Wolf” Dyvik and Christian Steenstrup. Emerging from Oslo's fertile underground, the duo have developed a sound that sits somewhere between house, electro, techno and dub, often coloured by darker textures and leftfield influences. Their productions move comfortably between warm, hypnotic grooves and colder, more atmospheric terrain, drawing on everything from disco and electro to industrial and experimental sounds. Their most recent release on Last Night On Earth alongside Sentre, encapsulates their sound: fun, care-free dance music that never takes itself too serious. That ability to produce a variegated sound has seen their music picked up by DJs across a wide spectrum, with support from Dixon to Sasha to Timo Maas and more. On this Balance Selections mix, the duo stay true to form with a playful one-hour session. Our second set from Breakfast of Champions comes chock full of breakbeats from our one and only Rumblemunk. In his words: The set starts with a cool and funky transition track with some well-known vocals to keep folks hooked. I admit: it's hard playing after shOOey. There are literally people hanging from the rafters and dancers all over the stage, and I try my best to keep them interested for as long as possible. The core of the set is an exploration of recent breakbeats that sound minimal, but really are an evolution of the 90s dub sound that traces directly from reggae to drum and bass. The 60-70 BPM of dub double-timed up to high 130s and low 140s BPM forces faster elements like hats and arpeggios to be simplified, but leaves space for really interesting layering when slowed down to 132 BPM. There's a run from 12:30 to 17:30 that exemplifies this layering and progression before dropping back into the more open foot-stompy breaks. I hadn't played it in a while, and was sort of missing the rapid-fire rapping of Eminem, so I dropped in Eminight's Doom, my bootleg of Eminem's Without Me and Timo Maas' Doom's Night. It wraps up a nice run of Plump DJs, Krafty Kuts, and Yo Speed. The final act of the set is a trip back through time to 2004 with deep cuts from Plump DJs, Evil Nine, and the Breakfastaz (name appropriate, no?). This all leads into the final track; a breakbeat remix of Megadeth's Peace Sells (But Who's Buying) from 1988. I was looking for something topical for the current times with space for live guitar, but wasn't finding any tracks that worked. The idea of remixing Megadeth has been on my mind for a while, and the similar BPM and angry lyrics (If there's a better way... I'll be the first in line... But it better work this time) meant I had to do this. The live guitar bit didn't pan out, but production time of 7 weeks from idea to master is a new record for me. Expect an official release with live guitar and club edits later in 2026. -Rumblemunk

His sudonyms Maetrik, Mariel Ito, Plaex, and now Maceo Plex are under great demand for the rich dynamic production and unique blend of techno, house, funk, and electro that only Eric can devise. Perhaps it's because of Eric's clear Cuban roots or his years in the game, but without a doubt 2010 was an incredible year and only more amazing things are expected of his truly unarguable talent. In 2010 alone Eric released under the names Maetrik and Maceo Plex remarkable releases on labels like Cocoon, Audiomatique, Crosstown Rebels, Dumb Unit, and Mothership. Not to mention a slew of amazing remixes for the likes of Morcheeba, John Digweed, Robert Babicz, Max Cooper, Martin Eyerer, and many more. Now in 2011 Eric after the release of hugely successful "Vibe Your Love" on the very respected Crosstown Rebels, as Maceo Plex, Eric will be releasing in Febuary his full lenth album aptly titled "Life Index". It will be the start of a great career on Crosstown Rebels and will be huge departure from his typical futuristic tech sound as Maetrik. Without leaving the Maetrik brand behind, Eric will also releasing a hot new ep on Guy Gerber's Supplement Facts imprint, and a new ep on Cocoon. Also for 2011 remixes of Mandy & Booka Shade, Timo Maas, Adam Beyer, among others already confirmed. 11 years since his first release on the respected Immigrant Records back in 2000, Eric is still holding strong to his quest for the future of dance. Whether working on his "other worldly" compositions as Maetrik, his alien sounding electro as Mariel Ito, or his innovative dark house music as Maceo Plex, Eric is always putting his blood sweat and tears into everything he does. Putting aside trends and crushing genre boundaries, no one can argue that Eric has always stayed true to what comes from his heart or his sometimes choatic mind.

"Music has always been my life," Michael Stewart aka Beat Tribe admits. "It's the one thing that has never let me down, broken up with me, made me feel like shit, etc", he continues. "So I am most happy when I am creating (music)". Beat Tribe's career spans over ten years and began in Orlando, Florida in the late 90's, where he began DJ'ing and working at the Underground Record Source, mixing together nu skook breaks and deep and dark, tribal progressive house. Taking equal influence from Sasha and Timo Maas to gay circuit house and the breaks that were coming out of the UK at the time, Stewart began developing a style all his own, and became the Beat Tribe we know today. In 2012, his remix of Omid 16B's classic "The Game" was selected as the grand prize winner, following it with releases on Omid's SexOnWax and Alola Record imprints. He has remixed many artists since then, including Ariana Grande, Nine Inch Nails, Gary Numan, LMFAO, and much more. He currently hosts a (bi)monthly podcast on Apple Podcasts called Subterranean, where he showcases some of his latest tracks and remixes, as well as his favorite deep, dark, atmospheric tech-house.
