We premiere new music from Alienate boss Pronto as he unleashes a rave-drenched anthem for free download. The Dublin techno boss infuses a multitude of influences on ‘Get Down' as he shows shades of vintage UK techno, Chicago kissed house, and jerking Dutch acid in a juggernaut of a self-release. With over a decade of experience within the world of techno, Shane Berney better known as Pronto has a wealth of knowledge of all things fast & thumping. Recently establishing himself as a prominent figure within Dublin's music scene, the Alienate boss is determined to pump some soul into his club-nights as he pushes a classic techno sound with an uncompromising view on a how a club should look, sound and feel. Over the course of the past 10 years, he has orchestrated and performed at numerous events throughout the city. Gracing Dublin's most prestigious venues with the presence of renowned electronic music icons, including Boddika, LTJ Bukem, Mark Archer, CJ Bolland, and a myriad of other talented local and international acts. Notably, this past year marked the launch of his latest artistic alias, Pronto, which is characterised by his lust for individuality through creativity which has seen him live performances alongside DJ sets that feature a cocktail club-ready sounds. With a recent release on the esteemed Motz and multitude of forthcoming releases & shows scheduled for the latter part of this year with Alienate 2023 is set to be a memorable one for Shane. We premiere ‘Get Down' a high-octane trip through old school sounds as Pronto references classic UK techno and rave as he keeps the energy skyrocketing. Pronto also makes sure to keep his hand firmly on the gauntlet as serves up some menacing acid that leaves traces of 90's Belgium and Holland. Joy Orbsion is someone we have a long and fruitful relationship with here at Dekmantel. He is, and always has been, a pure embodiment of UK dance music. His sound is steeped in English musical history (often explicitly in the form of sampled monologues) but also very much makes a new history of its own. He’s had countless underground hits from his definitive post-dubstep breakthrough ‘Hyph Mngo’ to his peak time tech tools with Boddika, and each one marks a mini reinvention of his style. What ties them all together, though, is O’Grady’s unique penchant for blending garage, bass, funky, house, techno and old school jungle into his own fresh concoctions. The two hour podcast he has served up here -as a perfect warm up to our festival this weekend- is split into two parts. Says the artist himself, “the first half is basically a way of showcasing producers that are doing great things at the moment and is completely made up of new, unreleased music, and the second half is basically winding things down with a load of stuff from my record collection. A come down, of sorts.” Starting with a spoken word snippet from his jungle playing uncle Ray Keith, the mix is initially atmospheric and moody, with sleek and stripped back drums and smeared synths making for a heady and intimate mood. After picking up through skewed bass patterns and skeletal techno, the second half seduces with elegiac rhythms, jazz selections and spoken word tracks as well as delicious soul sounds, reggae and stoned broken beat. The results show exactly where Orbison is at musically, as well as offering an insight into where he has come from.

The 22nd Avenue Red Podcast comes from Rotterdam-based DJ 751 (real name Jelle Hamstra), a DJ who is younger than his episode number and in this deliciously educational vinyl mix of high-quality old-skool Techno he has delivered a perfectly mixed selection of records that, barring one, were all pressed & released before he even started school. We admire this kind of dedication from DJ's who mine through the veins of electronic musical heritage and dig deep beyond the baize of current music to find their own concept of sound like Jelle has. Clearly he has done his homework and carved out his own niche of sounds, playing a fresh mixture of Techno, Electro and IDM that traces back to way before his time and leads up to the present day. His job working at the Distribution warehouse at the mighty Clone in Rotterdam can only help his cause, being surrounded by various sources of inspiration... and lots of records! Originally from The Hague, the capital city of the province of South Holland, 751 started DJ'ing at the The Hague Sweatshop Skate Park as part of the Sweatshop Soundsystem and quickly gained attention with his unique collection of records and his enthusiastic, passionate way of playing through them. Since then he built up an impressive DJ's CV, earning himself a string of bookings over in the Dutch capital of Amsterdam at Festivals such as Lowlands, Pitch Festival, Off Centre, Dekmantel and also at the famous Trouw nightclub.
