We are so excited to have David Joannes on the show today! David is the founder and CEO of Within Reach Global! Within Reach Global exists to reach unreached people groups in the 10/40 Window with the gospel of Christ. Their four central focuses are compassion ministries, evangelism, discipleship, and church planting, with the goal of raising indigenous leaders to reach their own people. Each year, NorthStar Academy hosts a fundraiser called The Blessing Project to support a designated organization or cause, and this year, we are partnering with Within Reach Global to reach the unreached. This year's theme is “REACH” and our scripture is Romans 10:14-15. Our goal is to raise $6,000 by January 12th. Would you help us? Simply click here to donate and be sure to share with your friends and family! We are so excited to serve in this way and can't wait to see how God works through our giving.

In this episode. I had the distinct pleasure of talking with David Joannes. He is the co-founder and president of Within Reach Global, which serves the advance of the Gospel in some of Southeast Asia’s most difficult places. He is the author of The Mind of a Missionary: What Global Kingdom Workers Tell Us About Thriving on Mission Today & The Space Between Memories: Recollections from a 21st Century Missionary. David has a love for language, culture, and creative writing, and for the last 20 years, he has witnessed God’s Kingdom established in forgotten parts of the globe. He is passionate about the 10/40 Window, unreached people groups, the Great Commission, and all things missions. The fact that over 2 billion people have yet to hear the name of Jesus does not sit well with him. David began his missionary journey by smuggling Bibles into China. He has been interrogated for his faith over 20 times. Occasionally, he has hidden from the authorities under the sway of bamboo and the dim glow of moonlight. He has eaten meals with headhunters and shared the Gospel with tribal witch doctors. He has been apprehended by over 100 child soldiers carrying AK-47s and has journeyed to some of the world’s most forgotten regions. But in the thick of such precarious situations, David has also seen the Kingdom of God established among unreached and unnamed people groups. He has witnessed secret baptisms, taught at underground Bible training, and raised up a group of local missionaries who are planting churches among hard to reach animist, Islamic, atheist, and Buddhist tribes. After serving for 15 years in Southwest China, David now resides in Chiang Mai, Thailand with his wife, Lorna, and daughter, Cara. If so, today’s conversation with David Joannes is for you. David is a missionary of 20+ years, the founder of Within Reach Global, and the author of a new book, The Mind of a Missionary. In the book, he looks at what motivates missionaries and keeps them going, the reality of struggles and pain, the joy of faithful and selfless obedience, and much more. My hope and prayer is that after listening to today’s show, you’ll do two things. Go buy David’s book, The Mind of the Missionary, and read it See that, regardless of what you’re called to do, you are an integral part of God’s global plan.
