In a culture that bases nearly all relationships almost entirely on feelings and emotions, which change, what does it look like to have relationships that last? Relationships (especially romantic ones) that are fulfilling and strong, regardless of whether you're currently single, dating, engaged, or married? In other words, what is God's design for relationships regardless of the season you're in? Those are the questions we want to answer in this series! In this last message of the series, our Young Adults Pastor, Brent Cummings, gives us what God's design is for a great marriage. If we want to have healthy & happy marriages that last for a lifetime, we have to look at how the creator of marriage - God Himself - says we should do it. Ultimately, His Word says that a godly marriage is a promise, a pursuit, and a picture - it points us to a better and truer marriage between Christ and His Bride, the Church. Sunday Morning Message - "What God Says Is True!"In this message from July 7, Young Adults Pastor, Adam Morgan, continues our Journey through John with a message titled, "What God says is true!" Speaking truth in the good times is easy. It becomes a declaration in the dark times. The enemy is trying to snatch up what God is trying to accomplish.
Few subjects in Christianity have as much confusion, mystery, or just lack of knowledge around it as the topic of the Holy Spirit. So, in this series, we're going to address it head-on, and explore what the Bible has to say about the oftentimes “forgotten” Third Person of the Trinity: God the Holy Spirit. In this message, our Young Adults Pastor, Brent Cummings, gives an overarching introduction to the Holy Spirit, answering the three big questions of 1) Who is He?, 2) What does He do?, and 3) Why does it matter for us as young adults today? We hope you're encouraged by this podcast! It's easy to come up with an excuse not to share the Gospel with someone. Sometimes it might seem like an inconvenience due to time, or you simply need the reminder that the Gospel is not anything to be ashamed of. Whatever it may be that makes us hesitant, we learn in this series about the heart of why we both show and share the good news of Jesus Christ with great joy. This week, Brent Cummings, our Young Adults Pastor, wraps up this series on evangelism by giving three practical methods to use when sharing the gospel. One of the most common reasons people give as to why they don't share their faith is because they feel like they don't know how. In this message, we tackle that problem head-on, and offer the methods of 1) Sharing your story, 2) the Romans Road, and 3) the Three Circles. In the end, it is not a question of "Why should we?", but “Why not?” After all, it's the greatest news that should be shared with the greatest joy!We hope you're encouraged by this podcast! "I love this statement because in our present day culture, we have so many things that appear to compete with our God. But starting in the old testament, all the way through the end of the gospel, the Bible always proclaims that we serve the one God who does not just make promises, but who can deliver on the promises He gives ... why, because He is the highest, the greatest and the strongest and there is none that compare to Him!" - Pastor Bill Benson, Young Adults Pastor . . myjourneychurch.com Sunday Services: 9a | 10:45a . . #bettertogether #clanton #jkprattville #maxwellafb #prattville #journeystudentsprattville #journeychurchprattville #millbrook #communityyaprattville #lifechange #inGodwetrust #trustinGod

If you regularly attend Desert Springs, you are probably familiar with today's guest! Daniel Calderón joined us in the studio to share about what God has done in his life up until this point. Daniel has been married to his wife Brianne for almost seven years and serves as our Middle School and Young Adults Pastor. We are blessed to have the Calderóns as a part of our church family and staff! Daniel moved around a lot as a child attending eight different schools as his father was serving in the U.S. Navy. His family would attend churches along the way though it was tough to have a consistent church community due to the moves. Daniel came to understand who Jesus was when he was eight years old and got baptized by his granddad. He describes his understanding as having a head knowledge of Jesus but not making the choice to connect the reality of Christ to his heart. As he grew up, he found himself living as two different people between school and church, describing it as having one foot in and one foot out. Jesus was compartmentalized. It wasn't until his junior year of high school that he began to learn about Jesus in a different way through studying apologetics. Daniel realized that following Jesus was a decision to be made and wasn't something that would just happen along the way. His mind connected to his heart, and he willed to follow Jesus. This choice has certainly changed the trajectory of his life. You'll hear about how he and Brianne met and married, his pursuit of a career in education and how the Lord has brought him to where he is now serving at Desert Springs, all because of the decision to intentionally choose to follow Jesus. The transition from high school ministries to college and young adult ministries can be jarring for students. As student pastors and leaders, it's important to ask the question of how can your ministry lay the foundation for students to grow into mature, healthy college and young adult disciples. Doug's guest today is Logan Nyquist,, Young Adults Pastor for Denton Bible church. Arm wrestling Logan's testimony Surrender to God or to Drugs I Can't Get No Satisfaction ------------------ Acts 23:1-11 (ESV) 1 And looking intently at the council, Paul said, “Brothers, I have lived my life before God in all good conscience up to this day.” 2 And the high priest Ananias commanded those who stood by him to strike him on the mouth. 3 Then Paul said to him, “God is going to strike you, you whitewashed wall! Are you sitting to judge me according to the law, and yet contrary to the law you order me to be struck?” 4 Those who stood by said, “Would you revile God's high priest?” 5 And Paul said, “I did not know, brothers, that he was the high priest, for it is written, You shall not speak evil of a ruler of your people.'” 6 Now when Paul perceived that one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, “Brothers, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees. It is with respect to the hope and the resurrection of the dead that I am on trial.” 7 And when he had said this, a dissension arose between the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and the assembly was divided. 8 For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, nor angel, nor spirit, but the Pharisees acknowledge them all. 9 Then a great clamor arose, and some of the scribes of the Pharisees' party stood up and contended sharply, “We find nothing wrong in this man. What if a spirit or an angel spoke to him?” 10 And when the dissension became violent, the tribune, afraid that Paul would be torn to pieces by them, commanded the soldiers to go down and take him away from among them by force and bring him into the barracks. 11 The following night the Lord stood by him and said, “Take courage, for as you have testified to the facts about me in Jerusalem, so you must testify also in Rome.” ------------------ 5 Core Values of SWAT 1. Episode 44: We are so excited to have Terry Parkman join us again for today's episode on what it truly means to disciple this next generation. Pastor Terry explains that our world today is post modernism, post church, and post truth. This means that culture today is moving from facts and truth and toward feelings, personal desires, and sin to be their truth. In the world's view, it doesn't matter what the facts say, because you can just create your own truth. The next generation is getting taught to live this way, and we need to be equipped to truly minister to them!
There is purpose to your now season, and God is preparing you for what's to come!
