Jann talks to Elisha Cuthbert, Dani Kind, Meredith McNeill and Zoie Palmer.
As Canadian thanksgiving comes and goes, Zoie Palmer is thankful she's playing Jann Arden's sensible sister Max on JANN. The Calgary-based sitcom is in its third season Monday nights on CTV. The British-born actress and York University grad is also well known for her five seasons as Dr. Lauren Lewis on the boundary-pushing Showcase drama Lost Girl. There her role as a sometime sex partner to the show's leading succubus, played by Anna Silk, landed the two of them on CNN's list of all-time favourite TV Couples. Before COVID curtailed set visits for reporters, I kept running into Palmer on productions across Canada. Between JANN seasons, the Canadian Screen Award winner kept busy on shows such as Wynonna Earp, Taken, Ransom, Private Eyes and Pure. Earlier this year, she was cast alongside Chris Rock, Samuel L. Jackson and Max Minghella in the “Saw” inspired feature film “Spiral.”Get to know Palmer a little better -- including her choice for favourite all-time TV theme song -- on this chatty podcast conversation.
Jann is joined by her costar, Zoie Palmer, who plays her sister Max on the JANN show. And Caitlin joins us as well! They chat about upcoming season three, getting back to travelling and vaccine passports.
Welcome back to GalaxyCon Live! In this episode, we talk to the cast of "Wynonna Earp" about their rise to stardom, their loyal fanbase, as well as the ins and outs of producing such a unique show! Last but not least, we tackle some fan questions! Want to see these panels live? Head onto galaxycon.com! Originally aired on January 31st

Tread Perilously hops aboard the Raza for a month of sci-fi shows set on ships and the Dark Matter episode called "Welcome to the Revolution." Answering a distress call from someone they believe to be their old handler, Tabor Calchek, the crew of the Raza find themselves caught in a struggle between a group of colonists and the Traugott Corps security troops interfering with their plans to go independent. Six is inclined to offer aid while Two would rather move on. Meanwhile, back on the ship, the Android discovers Three's mysterious cargo and on Zairon, Ryo considers the best way to deal with his former allies. Special Review Unit Captain Charlie Wright joins Erik and Justin as a sci-fi newbie. She tries to convert the story into familiar police procedural tropes and notes a certain limitation in the production values. Erik figures out the perfect way to determine if someone is a Star Wars fan. The new Dune also comes up. Everyone enjoys the bizarre timeliness of the episode and Dark Matter's socialist leanings. Charlie makes special mention of Android performer Zoie Palmer. The series' simultaneous serial and episodic natures proves to be a problem for the novice viewer and Erik spends a lot of time coughing in the background.
Hockey mom/police forensic accountant Val Krochak quickly trades in her calculator for a gun, finding herself in the middle of a Mennonite-Mexican drug pipeline. Zoie Palmer stops by the Purecast, talks about her character Val, her personal connection to Silence of the Lambs, and about joining the cast of Pure Season 2, with guest star Alyson Hannigan. Pure is based on true stories of the Mennonite Mob.
Do barista's spell your name correctly when they write it on a coffee cup? I get some variations. Jenny. Genie or Jean. And even though some think my name is denim, I wonder if Zoie Palmer goes through similar experiences? Most known for her role as Dr. Lauren Lewis on the drama Lost Girl, we throwback to Zoie stopping by Rise Up Radio to talk about: - Tips on how to get on the infamous LGBT site AfterEllen.com - Lilly Boots is her coffee cup name - She may name her child Lamp PostHave a happy Thursday! "Dark Matter" starred Melissa O’Neil, Anthony Lemke, Alex Mallari Jr. and Jodelle Ferland with Roger Cross and Zoie Palmer as “Android.” Joining me today is Joe Mallozzi, co-creator with Paul Mullie of the graphic novel on which “Dark Matter” is based. He helped fans and the cast of the Raza, the home ship of the show, to mount a major effort to convince Netflix or MGM to produce a fourth season.
Andi and Lise really dig the TV series Dark Matter, which airs on the SyFy network. It’s a space opera, which is one of Andi’s all-time fave genres (and Lise’s!) but it’s got some really excellent elements that make it super watchable. Plus, diverse cast. Six people emerge from stasis on a space ship and none of them know who they are or how they got there. Plus, there’s an android (played by Lost Girl’s Zoie Palmer) who also has to have her memory wiped. So six humans with no idea what they’re doing on this vessel and as the series progresses, they realize that they have shady pasts and even shadier business dealings in a galaxy ruled by mega-corporations vying for power. The six have to learn how to stick together though they have no idea who they are, and both Lise and Andi love how the show explores the idea of how who we are is determined, to an extent, by our memories.
