A gripping update on Iran, the underground Church, and why many believers see Jehovah moving in surprising ways. In this episode of The Smith and Rowland Show Podcast, Smith and Rowland react to a powerful testimony from an Iranian Christian woman who describes dreams, miracles, secret church life, and the cost of following Jesus under persecution. Along the way, the conversation turns to what's happening in the Middle East right now, including the long-running Shia and Sunni divide, reports of rapid Christian growth in Iran, and how Jeremiah 49 gets brought into the discussion. The hosts also highlight the contrast between faith under pressure and spiritual comfort in the West, plus why this testimony should wake up the Church in America. You'll hear about: * A conversion story shaped by dreams, healing, and a deep hunger for truth * Smuggling and distributing thousands of New Testaments across Tehran * The risks faced by women who choose Christ under an oppressive regime * Why this story matters for prayer, perspective, and prophetic discussion This is part one of the clip, the next episode continues with the prison story and release. #Iran #ChristianTestimony #PersecutedChurch #Jehovah #Podcast

This is an encore presentation of an episode originally released May, 2024. After today, I will be taking a short break and returning on April 2nd with all new episodes. All Patreon memberships will be paused until we return as well. Thank you!Hey y'all! This is the ONE jail story I have yet to tell anywhere . Literally one of the craziest events of my entire life, and probably the wildest four days of my active addiction. As always though, there is purpose in the madness, and this story is no different. A few episodes ago my guest Kevin said that a "miracle" can just be a shift in perspective. I absolutely love that idea and today you and I are going to discuss the perspective shift that "rejection is protection." Typically when we are rejected for anything, or by someone, we feel it is based on our value - that we aren't "good enough." What if we can shift our belief system to believe that rejection is a good thing, and absolutely unrelated to our value? Let's talk about it! Let me know what ya'll think! Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum is stuck in a political trap. On the one hand, Trump has threatened to intervene if she doesn't tackle the country's cartels. On the other, her strike against notorious 'El Mencho' this week sparked violence and unrest, with some cities like Guadalajara shutting down for days. But is killing El Mencho the end of America's fentanyl woes, or the start of a new chapter in the 'War on Drugs'?David Mora from the International Crisis Group joins Hamish Macdonald and Geraldine Doogue from Guadalajara to talk about the Jalisco cartel's global drug networks, and why ordinary Mexicans are bearing the brunt of Sheinbaum's diplomatic tightrope-walking.Guest: David Mora, senior Mexican analyst with the International Crisis GroupGet in touch:We'd love to hear from you! With the recent rerelease of the Bram Stoker Award and the Shirley Jackson Award-winning Night of the Mannequins, I sat down to chat with Stephen Graham Jones once again. I'm not shy about admitting that Stephen is the reason I started reading prose again, because I felt like I could really hear the voices of his narrators. It made me fall in love with reading in ways I hadn't felt since childhood. We get into his unique voice in his work, which makes it sing in a different way than anything else. But with that unique voice, we also spend a lot of the conversation talking about the power of audiobooks and how his in particular always has the tone perfect for the Texas air that lingers in the text. Texas is also a hot topic of conversation and, in itself, a character in many of Stephen Graham Jones' novels. There are also comparisons made between the leads of Night of the Mannequins and I Was a Teenage Slasher, with tinges of unreliability in the narrators. We also get into the power of the novella and how Tor Nightfire has been a major factor in making the horror novella front and center. The novella is available wherever you buy books now! About Night of the Mannequins From the New York Times bestselling author of The Only Good Indians, Stephen Graham Jones, comes a slasher story where a teen prank goes very wrong and all hell breaks loose in a small town. Winner of both the 2020 Bram Stoker and Shirley Jackson Awards! We thought we'd play a fun prank on her, and now most of us are dead. As summer winds down and his friends are growing up, Sawyer has a plan for one last prank to spook his buddy working at a nearby movie theater. Smuggling in a mannequin and seating it in the middle row is just harmless fun - until it wakes up, walks out, and starts killing. Luckily, Sawyer devises a plan to save as many people as possible. But in order to be the hero, sometimes you have to become a monster first. NIGHT OF THE MANNEQUINS asks "questions about the nature of change and friendship" (NYT) between its blood-spattered pages that will leave readers reeling.

In this jaw-dropping episode , we sit down with George Day — one of the most prolific yet largely unknown drug kingpins in American history. Raised in Washington, DC, George was literally born into the drug trade. By age six, he was traveling across the border with his father, helping smuggle hundreds of pounds of marijuana hidden inside a Winnebago. As he grew older, his life spiraled deeper into the underworld — from trimming weed in Mexico to handling massive cash pickups and negotiating with Colombian suppliers before he was even a teenager. After his father's sudden death, George found himself — at just 11 years old — sitting on a multimillion-dollar drug ledger, forced to navigate dangerous debts, cartel relationships, and violent street politics. What followed was the rise of a cocaine empire that eventually stretched across all 50 states… and ultimately led to a life sentence plus 90 years in federal prison. This is Part 1 of an unbelievable story about family, survival, crime, and the realities of growing up inside America's drug economy.
How does a well spoken, unassuming British man end up becoming a high level international smuggler… and then locked up inside one of Ecuador's most dangerous prisons? In this explosive episode of Terry Stone Connection, we sit down with “Posh Pete”, Pieter Tritton, a man who completely defies the stereotype of a smuggling kingpin. No hardened gangster image. No obvious criminal background. Just a story that spiralled into the dark world of international trafficking, betrayal, prison survival and consequences.Pete opens up about how he got involved, how deep it really went, and what it's like being banged up inside Ecuador's worst prison, a place known for violence, corruption and chaos. From culture shock to survival tactics, this is a raw account of a British man thrown into one of the most brutal systems in the world.Don't forget to like, comment and subscribe for more real stories from the streets, the system and the people who lived itJoin Blakey Trades today with my 150% deposit bonus by using this link: https://t.me/m/8miJKmijNjdk Just say 'hi' after clicking the link to get started. At the height of their world-changing and culture-defining popularity, the Beatles faced death threats in foreign countries, an unfair tax rate in their own country that forced them to stash heaps of undeclared cash in brown paper bags, and the sudden suicide of their manager. But none of this could break up the band. Nor could LSD smuggling missions, drug busts, extramarital affairs or the deranged fans who came to their houses. O'Dea recounts the logistics, risks, and moral gray zones of smuggling operations, as well as the eventual collapse of that world and his later transformation into a legitimate businessman and philanthropist. In this bonus episode, we break down the DOJ's aggressive pursuit of protesters who disrupted services at Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota, targeting anti-ICE activists amid a civil rights probe and arrests tied to the FACE Act and possibly the Klan Act. We highlight ICE's recent wins, including cash smuggling seizures from Somali-born travelers at MSP airport and ongoing fraud investigations in the Minnesota Somali community involving welfare scams. Plus, we recognize these enforcement actions as key victories against exploitation. To lighten things up, we dive into some food talk, discussing comfort foods when temperatures plunge. In this episode, Johnny sits down with Luis “Spider” Gutierrez, a longtime Northern California gang figure and former leader within the Norteño structure, to tell one of the most intense and unfiltered prison stories ever shared on the podcast. Raised in Salinas, California—one of the most gang-impacted cities in the state—Spider was convicted of attempted murder and sentenced to decades in California's most violent Level IV prison yards. What followed was nearly 20 years of nonstop war behind the walls: mass riots, stabbings, political power struggles, and surviving situations most inmates don't live to talk about. Spider breaks down: -What it's really like to enter prison already marked for war -How Northern California gang politics actually function on the yards -100-man riots, organized violence, and surviving multiple gunshot wounds -The reality of loyalty, reputation, and respect inside high-security prisons -Why he never dropped out—and how he eventually made it home alive This is not a glamorized story. It's raw, graphic, and brutally honest—told by someone who lived every second of it and is still dealing with the aftermath today. Go Support Spider! Welcome back to another chaotic episode of the Working Perspectives Podcast! Tonight, your hosts Matt, Liam, and Bern are taking "Current Events" to a whole new level of insanity with our signature Guess The News Challenge. The rules are simple: Each host brings one bizarre, true news story from around the globe. They read the story aloud but intentionally leave out the most crucial details. The other two hosts have only 4 minutes and 3 strikes to guess the missing pieces before the clock runs out!
This week on The Box of Oddities, Kat and Jethro Gilligan-Toth open the lid on some of the strangest true stories the world has to offer — from bizarre smuggling schemes that absolutely should not have worked, to an island so dangerous Brazil made it illegal to visit. You'll hear verified cases of smugglers hiding gold, drugs, wildlife, and even live animals in places that defy both logic and anatomy. From marijuana disguised as carrots and cocaine packed inside frozen shark carcasses, to turtles smuggled through airport security inside a fast-food sandwich, these are real criminal attempts that prove human creativity has no off switch. Then, we shift from border absurdity to genuine biological horror with Snake Island — Ilha da Queimada Grande — a real, government-restricted island off the coast of Brazil where thousands of golden lancehead vipers evolved into some of the most venomous snakes on Earth. Learn how isolation, evolution, and a diet of migratory birds created a nightmare ecosystem so lethal that even scientists need military clearance to visit. Along the way, you'll also hear:• A true “Thing in the Middle” miracle involving a church explosion that spared every choir member• The evolutionary science behind hyper-toxic venom• Why wildlife smuggling is one of the most dangerous black markets in the world• And why, for the love of all that is holy, airports are not storage facilities It's strange history, real science, true crime stupidity, and unsettling natural horror — all documented, all factual, and all deeply odd. In this week's episode of High on Home Grown, we're covering a mix of financial forecasting, legal outcomes, health policy, and youth-related research: Macky kicks things off with a forward-looking discussion on what investors should be paying attention to as we head toward 2026, following rescheduling moves in the US. Hype is everywhere, but we break down what could actually matter once the dust settles. He also covers a UK court case where a mum avoided jail after being caught smuggling £285,000 worth of cannabis into the country. A story that raises familiar questions around sentencing, motive, and how these cases are handled by the courts. John brings news from the US, where federal health programs are reportedly set to cover up to $500 worth of CBD products for certain patients by April, according to comments from Trump official Dr. Oz. If this goes ahead, it could mark a major shift in access at a national level. We also look at new research linking marijuana use in teenagers with poorer school performance and increased emotional distress. A sensitive topic that deserves nuance rather than scare headlines. Another packed episode touching on money, policy, and the real-world impacts behind the headlines.

British officials had a problem: Their American colonists wouldn't stop smuggling. Even after Parliament slashed tea prices and passed laws to make legal imports cheaper, colonists kept buying Dutch and French goods on the black market. So what was really going on? If it wasn't just about saving money, what drove thousands of merchants and consumers to risk fines, seizure, and worse? In this revisited episode, we follow the illicit trade networks that connected colonial port cities to the "Golden Rock,” Sint Eustatius, a tiny Dutch island that became the Atlantic World's busiest smuggling hub. You'll discover why American merchants risked everything to trade there, how these underground networks shaped revolutionary resistance, and what Britain's crackdown on smuggling reveals about the deeper economic and political tensions that ignited the Revolution. Think the Boston Tea Party made America a coffee-drinking nation? Historian Michelle McDonald reveals the truth: colonists were already choosing coffee over tea because it was cheaper. You'll hear about Revolutionary-era women storming a Boston warehouse to seize hoarded coffee and sell it at regulated prices. You'll discover why Parliament protected coffee while taxing tea. And you'll learn how enslaved Caribbean laborers made America's favorite beverage possible. From colonial coffee houses to debates about caffeine addiction in the early republic, discover how one imported commodity became distinctly American. NO INSERTED ADS: www.patreon.com/dopeypodcastThis week on Dopey! In this unbelievably heavy episode, Dave sits with Glynis as she unpacks a lifetime of addiction, trauma, and survival that spans Massachusetts, Texas, L.A., jail, pimping culture, meth psychosis, fentanyl, gang life, and ultimately federal prison. Glynis describes early emotional wounds, resentment toward her mother, the “magnet” pull of addiction, and how heroin became the only place she ever felt OK. She talks about couch-surfing and freezing nights in Boston, smoking meth for the first time in Texas, disappearing on multi-day runs, underground game rooms, GHB comedowns, and getting sucked into the world of pimps, sex work, and Money Mike — a relationship built on psychological control, fear tactics, and the twisted logic of “pimp and ho culture.”Her story escalates into car thefts, robberies, abscesses, neck shots, living in trap motels, being handcuffed to a sink by gang members, and eventually becoming a renegade escort in L.A., buying ounces and then pounds of fentanyl off Skid Row. Glynis explains how she was recruited to smuggle undocumented people across the border — driving a Mercedes with people hidden in the trunk while cartel-connected spotters fed her instructions through Bluetooth. She's arrested, violently kicks fentanyl in federal custody, falls from a bunk, hits her head, and becomes cross-eyed for months. COVID lockdown hits prison, she begins praying out of desperation, and she's unexpectedly released early. Dumped into a chaotic men's sober house, she meets “Jimmy the Poet,” the only sober person there, and for the first time listens when someone suggests recovery. Glynis begins 12-step work, finds community, and slowly becomes a stable, married, sponsoring adult who can finally say she didn't stay broken forever. All that and way more on a rough and tough new episode of the good old dopey show!
