Are Marge & Homer Simpson (The Simpsons) a no-brainer? What about Carol & Mike Brady (The Brady Bunch)? Does Brandon & Kelly (Beverly Hills, 90210) grab a spot? Does Cory & Topanga (Boy Meets World) or Archie & Edith Bunker (All In The Family) deserve a place? After that, they discuss which Movie Couples will be part of that grouping. Can you argue that Clark & Ellen Griswold (Vacation) shouldn't get a spot? Will Rocky & Adrian (Rocky) be included? Are Princess Leia & Han Solo (Star Wars) in the conversation? What about Vincent Gambini & Mona Lisa Vito (My Cousin Vinny) & Robbie Hart & Julia Sullivan (The Wedding Singer)?

One of the most fun conversations Rusk and I ever have is when we go deep into our favorite fictional television relationships. Y'all we go in with our tweezers and dissect! In this fun and off-the-cuff episode, we get to go in deep on some of our favorite TV couples. We talk about what makes them a good couple if they have a good life, their money, their family dynamic dealing with kids, work, and hobbies. The conversation is in good fun and giving notes based on our experiences as a long-term couple.  We start with Married with Children  Al and Peggy Bundy and their dysfunctional functional marriage. The complicated love between Don and Betty Draper, a '50s throwback of MadMen and his Stepford wife. The on-and-off romance between Carrie and Big on Sex and The City, then we get nasty and judgy on Issa and Lawrence of Insecure.  Join us as we take a look back at the fictional couples whose love stories we became invested in over the years. Which couple is your favorite? Bonus: We talk about our latest experience with Canadian Covid travel restrictions at the end of the episode.  Like the podcast? As Canadian thanksgiving comes and goes, Zoie Palmer is thankful she's playing Jann Arden's sensible sister Max on JANN. The Calgary-based sitcom is in its third season Monday nights on CTV. The British-born actress and York University grad is also well known for her five seasons as Dr. Lauren Lewis on the boundary-pushing Showcase drama Lost Girl. There her role as a sometime sex partner to the show's leading succubus, played by Anna Silk, landed the two of them on CNN's list of all-time favourite TV Couples. Before COVID curtailed set visits for reporters, I kept running into Palmer on productions across Canada. Between JANN seasons, the Canadian Screen Award winner kept busy on shows such as Wynonna Earp, Taken, Ransom, Private Eyes and Pure. Earlier this year, she was cast alongside Chris Rock, Samuel L. Jackson and Max Minghella in the “Saw” inspired feature film “Spiral.”Get to know Palmer a little better -- including her choice for favourite all-time TV theme song -- on this chatty podcast conversation.

Here are three of our most popular topics from earlier this year: Bad TV Couples, Classic Movie Monsters, and the Perfect Summer Soundtrack.  First up, from Episode 384: we’re discussing bad TV couples. Anyone who loves television has a favorite couple, or even several favorites. But have you ever loved a show and two characters getting together just ruined it for you? Are there shows where you just dread any potential romantic couplings – like it just doesn’t belong? We will be discussing all of this and giving our top 3 worst TV couples we’ve experienced. Next, we head to Episode 386: we’re discussing those movie monster classics such as Mummy (1932), Frankenstein, Wolf Man, Dracula, Invisible Man, Creature of the Black Lagoon, etc. These classic horror movies are the beginning drivers for what we know horror movies and horror characters to be today and their visionary masters still reside in the horror hall of fame. We decided – with the upcoming release of The Invisible Man – we need to discuss these classic monsters: how they scared us, our favorites, and why we love them despite being less of a razzle-dazzle than horror movies now. Finally, we head to Episode 395: What are the best songs or themes from movies to crank up once Summer hits? Instead of dwelling on it all, let’s just make our perfect playlist. We each get 10 songs – they can be themes, songs from a movie soundtrack, or just synonymous with a movie – and make our own perfect summer movie soundtrack! That means you could see yourself, windows down, hair flowing, driving or jogging or whatever to our Spotify playlist, The Hollywood Outsider Perfect Summer Movie Soundtrack. Bonus points if you know the chorus… Discussed on this episode of The Hollywood Outsider Movie and TV Podcast: (0:00 – 33:47) Opening | Bad TV Couples (33:48 – 59:54) Classic Movie Monsters (59:55 – 1:42:42) The Perfect Summer Movie Soundtrack Please support The Hollywood Outsider and gain immediate access to exclusive bonus content, including a BONUS monthly episode and Bad Movie Night, by visiting Patreon.com/ TheHollywoodOutsider Be sure to join our Facebook Group Join our Fantasy Movie League! Welcome to Season Three of Talking ‘Ship, a podcast dedicated to discussing fictional television relationships and how they relate to our non-fictional lives. Brought to you by the Bleav Podcast Network. This season your hosts Megan Fitzgerald and Victoria Hoffman discuss Issa and Lawrence of HBO’s Insecure. Issa and Lawrence aren’t your classic TV couple. They aren’t a “will they won’t they” love story, they don’t have a romantic arc filled with huge realizations and grand gestures. (SPOILERS AHEAD) These two start out together, break up, and through the course of the four seasons they slowly make their way back to each other. The show still has at least one more season, and fans are divided on the fate of Issa and Lawrence. Will they end up together? SHOULD they end up together? This season we will deep dive into their relationships and try to answer those two questions. This episode is all about the early days of Issa and Lawrence on the show, who they are and how they are when we meet them. The pilot of Insecure essentially opens with Issa questioning everything: her career, her identity, and most importantly, her relationship. Lawrence and Issa have been together for five years, the majority of their twenties, but the state of their relationship is not so hot when we meet them. After introducing ourselves, we’ll kick off this episode with our initial takes on Insecure and this couple. Why did we choose to talk about them? Do WE think they belong together? Then we’ll start to unpack their relationship… We’ll talk about Issa’s identity crisis, how her desperate need for something to change leads to a wandering eye. However, Lawrence does nothing to stop her from doing so. How does his rut prevent him from being present with Issa. Should Issa have been more supportive of him? Was she capable of it?We’ve all known a couple in an Issa/Lawrence situation (or *AHEM* we’ve been that couple). We’ll wrap up the episode by giving our advice to all the couples out there spending their twenties on the couch. What advice would we give?Tune in next week for our discussion on Daniel, the breakup, and how it all went down for Issa and Lawrence.
