So Boston land their Ace as David Price signs on at Fenway. Andy mourns the loss to Toronto and Gary is delighted that Boston at last have a true Ace. Greinke signs for the D'Backs - no really he actually did and the Giants enter panic mode and hand out $90 million and 5 years to the 2015's worst pitcher in the AL !! The Yankees have signed......er nobody of note, while the Dodgers have a massive hole in their rotation. Where will Cueto end up now ? But the biggest question of all why has Andy not seem a Mountie in his time in Canada ?

As we enter the home straight of the MLB regular season, Gary & Andy cast their eyes over the runners and riders that remain in the race as they make the sprint to the finish line. They shake their heads and cry into the beaten docket that is the Washington Nationals. After considering the chances of the clubs that still have a hope of playing October ball the lads then consider among other things - Matt Harvey innings limit, Why didn't the Red Sox keep Cespedes instead of Hanley Ramirez? Amaro Jr getting his jotters and the start of the NFL season.

So the Canadian Mounties have located Mr Andy Gibb and broke the news that not only are the Blue Jays good again but they have signed Tulo and Price forcing Andy to get on skype to gush to Gary about his Blue Jays. We also look at the Mets - could this rotation be the best baseball has seen ? The Yankees - was not strengthening at the deadline a big mistake ? Will we see post season handbags if Toronto meets Kansas ? And we look back at football in 1993 the year the Blue Jays last made it to the dance. The big Five-Oh for Bases Loaded podcast. If the Jays keep winning we may see the mid 50's by next week !!!

Andy and Gary manage to get their schedules to align to discuss Max Scherzer's broken-up Perfect Game bid, A-Rod's entry into the 3,000 hit club, the terrible voting system for the All-Star game and who should be going to the Midsummer Classic if it was up to them. Enjoy.

In epsiode #48 Gary & Andy take a look at how a quality Bull Pen is an absolute essential to succeed in MLB. Andy skims over the career highlights of this weeks chosen uniform number (well his namesake did win the UK general election). The opening 35 games are covered in scant detail and we both wish for the speedy onset of various geriatric conditions in order to slow down the Yankees impressive start. Oh and Gary still thinks Clay Buchholz is the Ace in the Red Sox pack.

With two series in the book for each MLB club Gary & Andy look back at week one and pretend that such a small sample of games is actually significant. They try to explain what the triple slash line is and their attempts will probably leave listeners none the wiser (just wait until they attempt to explain the infield fly rule). Andy looks forward to getting on 'Kiss Cam' during opening night in the cheap seats at the Rogers Centre and Gary bemoans the fantasy baseball trade market for Clay Buchholz.

In the last of our Divisional previews Gary & Andy look at the once mighty AL East. Gary unsurprisingly thinks the Red Sox will go worst to first again while Andy has his usual annual pre season optimism for his Blue Jays. Are the Yankees really too old to challenge? Can the Orioles find a way of replacing Cruz's 40 Dingers? Were Maddon and Friedman that key to Tampa success?Check out the rest of our divisional previews - you'll find them on whatever podcast platform you use.Join our MLB forum at www.basesloaded.eu

In our National League East Preview Gary & Andy look at the only real questions that need answered - Who will finish in positions 2,3 and 4? With the Nationals in full on 'win now' mode and the Phillies in crash & burn mode, can the Mets or Marlins possibly snatch a wild card berth and give their long suffering fans an early taste of the good times that lie ahead? How did two clubs (Braves and Phillies) turn from contenders to also rans so quickly? Join our forum at www.basesloaded.eu

Andy & Gary take a look at the intriguing AL Central. Without 'Big Game James' can the Royals repeat their success of 14? Has the Tigers expensive ship sailed? With the Cy Young winner heading their rotation - why not the Tribe? They may have won the off season but will the White Sox be able to do it in the regular season? Oh and the Twins are also in this division too.

Gary & Andy turn their attention to what we feel is the most competitive division in MLB - the NL Central. Can anyone stop the Cards? Maybe this is the year of the Cubs? Has the door closed on the Reds and Brewers? Will the Pirates make it three postseason appearances in a row after a 20-year wait? Did Gary ever watch anything on TV when he was younger?

In the first of our 2015 season Divisional Previews Gary & Andy briefly look at the NL West. Our analysis once again raises as many questions as answers. Are the D'Backs the worst team in MLB ? Will the Giants take their usual year out after a World Championship ? How well will the Padres fantasy roster work out ? Just how good would Tulowitzki be if he could manage a full season ? Who will win the Dodgers v Nats NLCS game ?

Andy & Gary get together to analyse the biggest free agent signing of the off season as Max Scherzer shows that heterochromia iridum should never hold anyone back as he signs a 14 year (sort of) deal with the Washington Nationals. Did the Nats need him ? Probably not but what the heck.

Andy & Gary are back again to analyse the Ramirez and Sandoval signings by the Boston Red Sox and it's implications for the multitude of outfielders and prospects at Fenway. Andy also breaks the news that the number 10 Free Agent on our list has found a home.

In our first Hot Stove special of 2014 Gary & Andy discuss the deals that have been wrapped up so far this winter and then contemplate the likely landing spots for the remaining top free agents on the market. We finish up with surprising agreement that giving out a 13 year $325 million contract is actually a smart move for all involved. It's a deliberately shorter version than normal and with less voices than normal too. We even managed to get through the show without a single reference to the Scotland v Ireland football qualifier last week !!! Hope you enjoy.

Andy is in the hot seat this week and is joined by Chuck, a Tigers fan with a Cubs season ticket, and regular contributor Mark. We look back on a thrilling World Series and discuss the 2014 awards - always a popular topic on Bases Loaded. We look at how it all went wrong for the Tigers, how they can put it right and how the offseason might pan out for them, the Yankees and the Cubs. Finally, Chuck tells us about his recent road trip. Enjoy. All feedback welcome.

Well we are down to the final series of the MLB season as the Kansas City Royals face the San Francisco Giants in the World Series. Gary is joined by Chris, Mark and Matt (spiggle) to look forward to the series and cast their eyes over post the season games to date. Be warned we encountered a few technical difficulties which meant the show was recorded over two nights and the sound quality was not as good on the second night. Anyhow we thank you for downloading and hope you enjoy our ramblings on the relative strengths of both teams. We concluded by offering our predictions and surprisingly three of us predicted exactly the same outcome (so get your money on the other lot). Hope you enjoy....

So another regular MLB regular season is almost in the books and Gary is joined by Mark and the long lost Andy to cast an envious but critical eye over the ten teams that have managed to extend their seasons beyond September. We speculate on what teams have the best pitching to carry them all the way and what players on each club would we give the ball to in game one. One thing we all agree on is how different an animal post season baseball is and how frustrating it is watching without a pony at the show.Andy fresh off the Jet from Toronto tries to convince us that the Blue Jays have one more stab at ending MLB's longest post season drought. As Derek Jeter bids farewell to MLB we look at other significant retirements this week then we take a look at Jeter's career and the whole farewell tour thing.Enjoy and feedback welcome.

After a longer than expected summer break we finally manage to get another episode in the can. Gary is joined by Bases Loaded forum members Mark and Chris. We look at the developing battle for post season places and speculate on which teams will make October and revise our World Series predictions. There then follows a discussion about which unexpected players have made their mark on the 2014 season. We have an interesting look at what current MLB players will end up in Cooperstown. Chris and Mark then give Brian Cashman the green light to return to the Bronx which makes Gary happy. Hope you enjoy. All feedback welcome.

In episode 32 Gary is joined live from San Francisco by Squire (@__SJH__) and Chris from England (@FreeReinuk). Amongst the topics we flapped our gums over were the DH rule and pitchers batting, drilling Big Papi, is it bad form to steal a base when 5 runs up in the 9th? How many $$$ you need in your pocket to attend a ball game, why are the Giants winning ?, baseball rivalries and why Squire wouldnt take Yasiel Puig if you gave him to the Giants for free. Chris finishes off the show with a quick update on whats happening in British Baseball. I really enjoyed the conversation in this one - hope you do too.

Did you hear the one about the Scotsman the Englishman and the Irishman ? Well that's the story in Epiosode 31. Kevin and Gary are joined again by Chris Ward (@FreeReinUk) to basically bluff our way through all six Divisions in MLB. In between we get sidetracked into the failings of MLBtv, How to dive into base and also manage to get sidetracked on several occasions as Kevin suffers through the Yankees defeat by the Brewers. At the end of the Podcast Chris provides a short preview of this weeks Baseball Schedule in the UK & Ireland. Hope you enjoy.

In Epsiode 30 Andy & Gary are joined by forum member and blogger David (OddSox) and Brad Cook PR & Marketing Manager for Out Of The Park Developments - Creators of the hugely popular OOTP15 Baseball SIM game. Brad talks about OOTP15 and the new developments within the game and explains the work that goes into bringing a game as close as possible to the real thing to our PC screens. The lads then discuss the resources they use to keep up to date and improve their knowledge of the game given the lack of main stream media coverage in the UK and a general chat about fantasy baseball, games console MLB games, baseball websites and podcasts. Oh and Brad kindly gave us a few games to give away - be sure to listen to the end for details. Enjoy.

In episode 29 Kevin, Gary & Andy are joined by Chris Ward @FreeReinUK. Chris blogs on MLB and plays 2B for Guildford Mavericks. The discussion centres around Pineda's dirty hands, how the new replay rule is working (or not) Chris comes up with a radical suggestion to improve it, how AL East is panning out and the rampant Brew Crew. Andy and Kev come to blows over pitching coaches intervention (always a touchy subject). Chris then takes time to enlighten us about the game of Baseball in the UK and tells us how foreign substances give you a better feel for your balls.
