Good and bad unintended consequences.By FinalStand. Listen to the Podcast at Explicit Novels. The highest cost of losing a war is the rage of your children."Maybe the Canadian is not so much an 'ex' girlfriend?" Orsi leered. It was the old 'if he is so good that she still wants him back after a colossal screw up, I wanted a taste' expression."Do you think she will help you?" Katalin inquired."She'll help," Pamela huffed playfully. "My grandson has plenty of ex-girlfriends. Most of them want him back, despite his colorful lifestyle. It is one of his more amusing qualities.""Let's get something to eat," I tried to turn the conversation away from my past sexcapades."You are engaged?" Jolan didn't miss a beat."It is complicated," I sighed. "Let's just say I really like her, but she's seven years older, divorced with one young daughter and has a father who hates that I live and breathe.""Do you have any male friends?" Monika joined the Cáel Quiz Bowl."Yes," I replied with confidence. "My roommate Timothy and I are great friends.""He's gay," Pamela pierced their disbelief. "He and Cáel are true brothers-in-arms, I'll give Cáel that much.""Do you have any straight male friends?" Orsi was enjoying taunting me."Do Chaz or Vincent count?" I looked to Pamela."They are straight males, but they don't really know you yet," Pamela failed to be of much help. "I think Vincent insinuated he'd shoot you if you dated any of his three daughters. It was friendly of him to warn you. I supposed that could be construed as liking you.""Are all your acquaintances violent?" Anya seemed worried."Vincent isn't violent. He's with the US FBI," I retorted. Pause. "Okay, he carries a gun and shoots it, he's a law officer. They can do that.""You seem to be stressed," Orsi put an arm around my waist. "Let us ease your worries." Hallelujah!Note: One of History's LessonsIn the last 75 years of military history, airpower had been a decisive factor in every major conflict, save one. Most Americans would think the one exception was US involvement in Vietnam and they'd be wrong: right country, wrong time. Indochina's War of Independence against France was the exception. There, the French Air Force was simply inadequate to the task.Yes, the United States and its allies eventually lost the struggle in Vietnam. But it was their airpower that kept the conflict running as long as it did. For the most part, the Allied and Communist military hardware on the ground were equivalent. While the Allies had superior quantities of supplies, the Communists countered that with numbers, and therein lies the rub.Airpower allowed the Allies to smash large North Vietnamese formations south of the Demilitarized Zone and thus prevented the numerical advantage from coming into play. The North Vietnamese and Viet Cong made one serious stab at a conventional militarily challenge to the Allies, the Tet Offensive, and after initial successes, they were crushed. With the NVA unable to flex their superior numbers, the Allies were able to innovate helicopter-borne counter-insurgency operations. The North Vietnam's Army (NVA) was forced to operate in smaller units, so the Allies were able to engage them in troop numbers that helicopters could support. The air forces didn't deliver ultimate victory, but air power alone had never been able to do so on land. It was only when the US lost faith in achieving any positive outcome in Viet Nam and pulled out, that the North was finally able to overrun the South 20 months later. But every major power today understands the lesson.End of Note(Big Trouble in Little China)The military importance of airpower was now haunting the leadership of the People's Republic of China (PRC), the People's Liberation Army (PLA) and People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF). Their problem wasn't aircraft. Most of their air fleet consisted of the most advanced models produced during the last two decades. The problem was that 80% of their pilots were dead, or dying. Their ground crews were in the same peril. Even shanghaiing commercial pilots couldn't meet the projected pilot shortfall.Classic PLA defense doctrine was to soak up an enemy (Russian) attack and bog down the aggressor with semi-guerilla warfare (classic small unit tactics backed up with larger, light infantry formations). Then, when the invaders were over-extended and exhausted, the armored / mechanized / motorized forces would counter-attack and destroy their foes. This last bit required air superiority through attrition. The twin enemies of this strategy were the price of technology and the Chinese economic priorities. With the rising cost of the high-tech equipment and a central government focus on developing the overall economy, the Chinese went for an ever smaller counter attack striking force, thus skewing the burden of depth of support far in favor of their relatively static militia/police units. So now, while the PLA / PLAAF's main divisions, brigades and Air Wings were some of the best equipped on the planet, the economic necessities had also meant the militia was financially neglected, remaining little more than early Cold War Era non-mechanized infantry formations. To compensate, the Chinese had placed greater and greater emphasis on the deployment capabilities of their scarcer, technologically advanced formations. When the Anthrax outbreak started, the strike force personnel were the first personnel 'vaccinated'. Now those men and women were coughing out the last days and hours of their lives. Unfortunately, you couldn't simply put a few commercial truck drivers in a T-99 Main Battle Tank and expect them to be anything more than a rolling coffin. The same went for a commercial airline pilot and a Chengdu J-10 multi-role fighter. The best you could hope for was for him/her to make successful takeoffs and landings.A further critical factor was that the Khanate's first strike had also targeted key defense industries. The damage hadn't been irreparable. Most military production would be only a month to six weeks behind schedule. But there would be a gap.It was just becoming clear that roughly 80% of their highly-trained, frontline combatants were going to die anyway. Their Reserves were looking at 30~40% attrition due to the illness as well. In the short term (three months), they would be fighting with whatever they started with. Within the very short term (one week), they were going to have a bunch of high-priced equipment and no one trained to use it. With chilling practicality, the Chinese leaders decided to throw their dying troopers into one immediate, massive counter-offensive against the Khanate.Just as Temujin predicted they would. Things were playing out according to plan.Note: World Events SummaryRound #1 had seen the Khanate unite several countries under one, their, banner. Earth  and  Sky soldiers had rolled across the Chinese border as their Air Force and Missile Regiments had used precision strikes to hammer Chinese bases, sever their transportation network and crippled their civilian infrastructure.Next, the frontier offensive units had been obliterated, the cities bypassed and the Khanate Tumens had sped forward to the geographic junctures between what the Khanate wanted and from whence the PLA had to come. In the last phase of Round #1, the Khanate prepped for the inevitable PLA / PLAAF counter-strike.Round #2 had now begun:Step One: Declare to the World that the Khanate was a nuclear power. As history would later reveal, this was a lie, but no one had any way of initially knowing that. Hell, the Khanate hadn't even existed 72 hours ago. Satellite imagery did show the Khanate had medium-range strategic missiles capable of hitting any location in the People's Republic. In Beijing, a nuclear response was taken off the table.Step Two: Initiate the largest air-battle in the history of Asia. Not just planes either. Both sides flew fleets of UCAV's at one another. It wasn't really even a battle between China and just the Khanate. Virtually all of the UAV technology the Khanate was using was Japanese, South Korean and Taiwanese in origin, plus some US-Russian-shared technology thrown into the mix. When the South Korean design team saw the footage of their bleeding-edge dogfighting UCAVs shooting down their PRC opponents, they were thrilled (their design rocked!), shocked (what was their 'baby' doing dominating Chinese airspace?) and anxious (members of South Korea's Defense Acquisition Program Administration, DAPA, were rushing over to chat with them).Similar things were happening in Japan, Taiwan, Russia and the United States. The Communist Party leadership in Beijing were beginning to seriously consider the possibility that everyone was out to get them. Of course, all the Ambassadors in Beijing were bobbing their heads with the utmost respect while swearing on the lives of their first born sons that their nations had nothing to do with any of this. These foreign diplomats promised to look into these egregious breaches of their scientific integrity and were saying how sorry they were that the PLA and PLAAF were getting ass-raped for the World's viewing pleasure. No, they couldn't stop the Khanate posting such things to the internet, something to do with freedom. Paranoia had been creeping into the Potentates' thoughts since the Pakistan/Aksai Chan incident. As they watched their very expensive jets and UCAV's being obliterated, distrust of the global community became the 800 pound gorilla in the room. To add habaneros to the open wounds, the United States and the United Kingdom began dropping hints that they had some sort of highly personal communication conduit with the Khanate's secretive and unresponsive leadership. Yes Virginia Wolfe, the Western World was out to get the People's Republic.'Great Mao's Ghost', all that claptrap their grandfathers had babbled on about (1) the Korea War, (2) the Sino-Soviet grudge match, (3) the Sino-Vietnamese conflict and (4) the persistent support for the renegade province of Formosa all being a continuous effort by the liberal democracies and post-colonial imperialist to contain Chinese communism, didn't sound so crazy anymore.Step Three: Plaster all those PLA ground units that had started moving toward them when the air war began and the Chinese envisioned they would control the skies. The T-99 was a great tank. It also blew up rather spectacularly when it was stuck on a rail car (you don't drive your tanks halfway across China, it kills the treads). As Craig Kilborn put into his late night repertoire:"What do you call a Khanate UCAV driver who isn't an ace yet? Late for work.""What's the difference between me coming off a weekend long Las Vegas bender and a Khanate pilot? Not a damn thing. We've both been up for three days straight, yet everyone expects us to work tonight."Some PLA generals decided to make an all-out charge at the Tumens. Genghis's boys and girls were having none of that. They weren't using their Russian-built Khanate tanks to kill Chinese-built PLA tanks. No, their tanks were sneaking around and picking off the Chinese anti-air vehicles. The Chinese tanks and APCs engaged the dismounted Khanate infantry who, as Aksai Chin had shown, possessed some of the latest anti-tank weaponry. In the few cases where the PLA threw caution to the wind, they did some damage to the Khanate by sheer weight of numbers. For the rest, it was death by airpower. With their anti-air shield gone, the battle became little more than a grisly, real-life FPS game. It wasn't 'THE END'. China still had over 2,000,000 troops to call upon versus the roughly 200,000 the Khanate could currently muster. The PLA's new dilemma was how to transport these mostly truck-bound troops anywhere near the front lines without seeing them also exterminated from the air. After the Tumens gobbled up the majority of the PLA's available mobile forces, they resumed their advance toward the provincial boundaries of Xinjiang and Nin Mongol. There was little left to slow them down. The Chinese still held most of the urban centers in Xinjiang and Nei Mongol, yet they were isolated. And Khanate follow-up forces (the national armies they'd 'inherited') were putting the disease-riddled major municipalities under siege. All over the 24/7 World Wide News cycle, talking heads and military gurus were of two minds about the Khanate's offensive. Most harped on the fact that while the Khanate was making great territorial gains, it was barely making a dent in the Chinese population and economy. Uniformly, those people insisted that before the end of November, the Khanate would be crushed and a reordering of Asia was going to be the next great Mandate for the United Nations.A few of the braver unconventional pundits pointed out the same thing, but with the opposite conclusion, arguing:1.There were virtually no military forces in the conquered areas to contend with the Khanate's hold on the regions.2.Their popularity in the rural towns and countryside seriously undercut any hope for a pro-PRC insurgency.3.Driving the Khanate's forces back to their starting points would be a long and difficult endeavor that the World Economy might not be able to endure. When the PLAAF was effectively castrated after thirty-six hours of continuous aerial combat, a lot of experts were left with egg on their faces. One lone commentator asked the most fearful question of all. Where was the Khanate getting the financing, technical know-how and expertise to pull all of this off? There was a reason to be afraid of that answer. And while I was entertaining my six sailor-saviors, there were two other things of a diplomatic nature only just revealing themselves. Publically, Vladimir Putin had graciously offered to mediate the crisis while 'stealthily' increasing the readiness of his Eastern Military District. If there was any confusion, that meant activating a shitload of troops on the Manchurian border, not along the frontiers of the former nations of Mongolia and Kazakhstan. After all, Mongolia was terribly poor. Manchuria/Northeastern China? Manchuria was rich, rich, rich! From the Kremlin, Putin spoke of 'projecting a presence' into the 'lost territory' of Manchuria, citing Russia's long involvement in the region. By his interpretation of history, the Russians (aka the Soviet Union) had rescued Manchukuo (the theoretically INDEPENDENT Imperial Japanese puppet state of Manchuria) from the Japanese in 1945. They'd even given it back to the PRC for safekeeping after World War II was concluded.Putin promised Russia was ready and willing to help out the PRC once again, suggesting that maybe a preemptive intervention would forestall the inevitable Khanate attack, thus saving the wealthy, industrialized province from the ravages of war. Surely Putin's Russians could be relied on to withdraw once the Khanate struggle was resolved? Surprisingly, despite being recent beneficiaries of President Putin's promises, the Ukraine remained remiss in their accolades regarding his rectitude. In the other bit of breaking news; an intermediary convinced the Khanate to extend an invitation to the Red Cross, Red Crescent and the WHO to investigate the recently conquered regions in preparations for a humanitarian mission. That intermediary was Hana Sulkanen; for reasons no one could fathom, she alone had the clout to get the otherwise unresponsive new regime to open up and she was using that influence to bring about a desperately needed relief effort to aid the civilians caught up in that dynastic struggle. A Princess indeed. No one was surprised that the PRC protested, claiming that since the territory wasn't conquered, any intervention was a gross violation of Chinese sovereignty.End of Note(To Live and Die in Hun-Gray)Orsi may have been the troupe leader, but Anya needed me more, so she came first."I need a shower before we catch some dinner," I announced as we meandered the streets of Mindszent. My lady friends were all processing that as I wound an arm around Anya's waist and pulled her close. "Shower?" I smiled down at her, she was about 5 foot 7. It took her a few seconds to click on my invitation."Yeah, sure, that would be nice," she reciprocated my casual waist hold. Several of her friends giggled over her delay. We were heading back to the Seven Fishermen's Guest House."Do you do this, picking up strange girls you've barely met for, you know?" she said in Bulgarian, as she looked at me expectantly."Yes and no," I began, in Russian. "I often find myself encountering very intriguing women, for which I know I am a fortunate man. I embrace sensuality. That means I know what I'm doing, but I'm not the 'bring him home to meet the parents' kind of guy.""What of your fiancée? Do you feel bad about cheating on her?" Anya pursued me."Hana is wonderful. I've met her father and it went badly both times," I confessed."How?" Anya looked concerned for me."Would you two speak a language the rest of us can understand?" Monika teased us."Very well," I nodded to Monika, and turned back to Anya, "The first time, his son raped a girl and I threatened the young man's life," I revealed. "Jormo, Hana's father, wasn't happy when I did so. The second time, he hit me twice, once in the gut and once in the head," I continued."Why did he hit you?" Orsi butted in."I'd rather not say. You may think less of me," I confessed. Pamela gave me a wink for playing my audience so well. I'm glad she's family (kinda/sorta)."The boy, he is dead?" Magdalena guessed. "Hana's brother?""I really shouldn't talk about that," I evaded. "It is a family matter." That's right. The family that my grandmother had brought me into as her intern / slayer-in-training. There is no reason to create a new lie when you can embellish a previous one."Do you ever feel bad about what you do?" Katalin asked Pamela. We love movies."As I see it, if I show up looking for you, you've done something to deserve it," Pamela gave her sage philosophy behind being an assassin."Are you, bi-sexual?" Jolan murmured. Pamela smacked me in the chest as I laughed. "Did I say something wrong?" Jolan worried. Pamela was a killer."No, you are fine," Pamela patted Jolan's shoulder. "I'm straight and happily so. It just so happens that most of my co-workers are women. Day in, day out, nothing but sweaty female bodies working out, sparring and grappling together, and afterwards, the massages."That was my Grandma, poking all the lesbian buttons of the women around me. Best of all, she did it with the detached air of a sexually indifferent matron. She was stirring up the lassies while keeping them focused on me. We walked into the courtyard of our guest house."Don't take too long, you two," Orsi teased us."Ha!" Pamela chuckled. "That's like asking the Sun to hurry up and rise, the Moon to set too soon, or the sea to stay at low tide forever.""Anya," I whispered into her ear. "How many orgasms do you want?" Anya's eyes expanded. Her eyes flickered toward her friends, then back to me. She held up one finger, I grinned speculatively. Anya held up two fingers. I kissed her fingers.

If you think it's getting hard to be a conservative in America, try living in the People's Republic of Canada. Secret police are arresting journalists, local politicians are targeting Christians, and the country's blackface-loving leader, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, is waging legal warfare against truckers. Our neighbors to the north are always just a few steps ahead of us. So Glenn gets some advice from one of Canada's most fearless freedom fighters, Rebel News founder Ezra Levant. He describes why the Trudeau regime had to crush citizen journalism with a relentless campaign that has caused nearly every Canadian media outlet to fall in line except for Rebel News. And he describes the regime's latest attacks against him, including an insane attempt to make him register his book with the government and a scheme to use Big Tech to force news outlets to comply. But there is still hope: Levant reveals the one strategy he believes is halting the regime's lawfare campaign. Ezra and Glenn also discuss why for the first time in his life, Ezra is scared to be a Jew in Canada: "I'm more worried about the West than Israel." Plus, he breaks down how he believes Trump would have handled Ukraine, Putin, and Hamas, why dictators hate comedy, whether the Canadian Mounties will become the Gestapo, and what questions he will ask global elites when he travels to the World Economic Forum's Davos 2024 summit. But even more important than his fight in Canada, he says, is what Americans choose to do in 2024: “What happens to America is more important than everything else combined.” Sponsors:With Rodenstock Biometric Intelligent Glasses, you won't have to go home and get used to your glasses. Surely you've heard of Leslie Nielsen. Surely you've seen some of the more than 200 movies he's been in. Surely you think he was one of the funniest actors ever. Jovial Jay and Shua look back on the memorable roles of this talented man. Listen in to Enjoy Stuff and don't call me Shirley.    Leslie Nielsen spent years trying to be a leading man in a number of dramatic movies with limited success. But then a lucky casting in the 1980 movie Airplane! as Dr. Rumack put him on a completely different path. After that, he became part of some of the funniest roles in history. Come along with us as we celebrate the career of a legend.    News Knives Out Sequel Gets Official Title With Teaser Video Butcher Billy has created some very cool Stranger Things posters The Thing is coming back to theaters for a couple days to celebrate its 40th anniversary Real Genius returns to video in a 4K ultra set What we're Enjoying Jay finally got to check out Operation: Mincemeat on Netflix and it didn't disappoint. Have you seen this World War II movie about a real life British operation that helped turn the tide of the war and even gave a famous James Bond author some ideas. Shua experienced Jurassic Park: Dominion in the theaters and was pleasantly surprised how much fun it is. Check it out yourself and be prepared to Enjoy Stuff!   Sci-Fi Saturdays/MCU Location Scout Be sure to check out Jay's articles on Retrozap.com. This week he revisits a classic Keanu Reeves film from early in his career called Johnny Mnemonic. An interesting premise where Reeves gets to smuggle data in his brain. Check it out, including his articles on MCULocationScout.com for some great, interactive maps of filming locations.    Enjoy Movies! Leslie William Nielsen was born in 1926 in Canada. His father was a Canadian Mountie and his brother eventually became the Deputy Prime Minister. But Leslie caught the acting bug from a famous uncle and began his career acting on a wide variety of TV shows.    Eventually he was cast as the dashing captain in the 1956 sci-fi movie Forbidden Planet. This first role didn't necessarily start a lucrative career, but it did give him his start in movies.    But he also continued some TV roles, such as the lead character in Disney's Swamp Fox series.    The manly actor played the Captain of a doomed cruise ship in The Poseidon Adventure and this is what caught the eye of the Zucker brothers.    When the Zuckers were creating Airplane! in 1980, they wanted a cast of dramatic actors that had been in disaster movies. Nielsen fit that bill. He played Dr. Rumack, who took care of the sick passengers, described how the illness progressed with vivid details, and inspired Ted Stryker with tales of George Zip.   This breakout role dictated the rest of his career as he now played some of the zaniest characters ever created, most notably Lieutenant Frank Drebin. Drebin was the bumbling but dedicated detective of Police Squad, a special division of the Police Department. The unlikely hero made his debut in the short-lived TV series Police Squad, but really became successful in the Naked Gun movies.   After that, Nielsen made dozens of wacky comedies and spoofs and set the bar high for comedians after him. Especially when it comes to giving interviews and controlling bodily functions.    Are you a fan of Leslie Nielsen? Do you use his many movie quotes on a daily basis? First person that emails me with the subject line, “Don't call me Shirley” will get a special mention on the show.  Let us know. When we last left our heroes, Rocky and Bullwinkle, they were desperately trying to foil the plans of those dastardly fiends Boris and Natasha. This week Jay and Shua look back at the classic Jay Ward creation The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle.    In 1959, Jay Ward productions created the first animated series for TV. Using a modern style of animation and very clever humor, they set up a crazy world that would inspire a kind of cartoon not found in the creations of giants like Disney or Warner Bros. This is Rocky and Bullwinkle!   News A Weird Al pinball machine will only set you back about $8,000 Scientists discover that the answer to life, the universe, and everything really is 42 (well, sorta) Indy 5 has wrapped filming! And Harrison Ford didn't even have to go the hospital! Beetlejuice 2 may actually happen! What we're Enjoying Shua has been filling the silence of work time by listening to the offerings of classic Disneyland audio from a site called DisneyChris.com. It has just about any Disney audio you can think of from the parks, Disney storybook records, and even TV shows. Jay is getting ready for a season 6 return of Better Call Saul by rewatching the series. But which order should we watch this show? Listen to find out.    Enjoy Cartoons! The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle debuted in 1959. It was the first time we had ever seen an animated series on TV, and it established a style that would become popular with cartoons, advertising, and design. A show about a moose and a squirrel constantly foiling the plans of Pottsylvanian spies Boris Badenov and Natasha Fatale sounds pretty far out there. And it was!   And to add to the wackiness of the show, other cartoons filled the space between cliffhangers our heroes had to endure. One was Fractured Fairy Tales when we got a very unconventional style of classics.    Peabody's Improbable History introduced us to Mr. Peabody and his pet boy Sherman and all their time traveling adventures.    Dudley Do Right taught us all about how brave (and sometimes dimwitted) those Canadian Mounties could be. But they always managed to save Nell from the mustache twirling Snidely Whiplash.    Aesop and Son helped us learn valuable lessons from fables and then turned them into ridiculous puns.   Plus, these classic toons inspired live action movie versions. The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle from 2000 starred the likes of Jason Alexander, Rene Russo, and even Robert DeNiro! Did you grow up experiencing Rocky and Bullwinkle? What lessons did you learn from this crazy pair? Let us know. Come talk to us in the Discord channel or send us an email to podcast@enjoystuff.com

Join us and creator Zack Morrison as we explore his story world, Canusa Street! Canusa Street is a 30-minute comedy series written specifically for network tv, much like a Parks and Rec.  The story takes place in an absurd small town cut in half by the Vermont/Quebec border following a jaded US Border Patrol attempts to solve local cases while maintaining a fierce rivalry with her twin sister in the Canadian Mounties. This pilot explores the absurdity of the small town which is split in half by the Canada/US border.  Throughout much of its history the border didn't matter, but after the 9/11 attacks the border began to be enforced.  This forcibly highlighted the differences between being an American and Canadian in a town where your neighbors, even half of your house, may be on the other side of the border.  Cansua Street aims to showcase the small differences between everyone that we take such pride in, but ultimately don't mean anything. We spoke about these strange hills we choose to die on, came up with Zack's TikTok and podcast strategy, and had a bunch of laughs about an underground poutine speakeasy. Follow Zack: Website: https://www.zackmorrison.comPrevious work: Everything's Fine: A Panic Attack in D Major - https://vimeo.com/342875021 Canusa Poster Art designed by Connor Simpson #canusastreet #comedy #border #pilot #catalyst #catalystcontent #storyworld #storytelling #transmedia #collectivejourney #artists #creatives #worldbuilder #producers #indie #newconcepts #storyworldexplorersSupport the show (https://www.patreon.com/inconversation)

Synopsis Imagine a crisp, blue Northern sky, a Canadian Mountie in a bright red tunic, and – what else? – an elaborately coiffed operatic soprano singing in the middle of the woods. Yes, it was on today's date in 1924, at the Imperial Theater in New York that “The Indian Love Call” was first heard in “Rose-Marie,” a musical written by American composer of Bohemian birth named Rudolf Friml. This one-time Dvorak pupil was born in Prague in 1879. He scored such a hit when he debuted his own Piano Concerto at Carnegie Hall in 1904 that he decided to make America his home. His early years as an American composer were disappointing, but in 1912, “The Firefly,” his first musical, proved a hit. Friml followed that with a string of increasingly popular Broadway shows, including “Rose-Marie” in 1924 and “The Vagabond King” in 1925, but by the mid-1930s Friml's old-world musical style was judged too old-fashioned for the hip New York of George Gershwin and Cole Porter. Ironically, it was just then that Nelson Eddy and Jeannette MacDonald films based on Friml musicals broke box office records. These campy films are now treasured precisely for their sweet, if rather affected, “period” flavor. While reading the back of the Twinkies box, Kathleen is excited to learn that Hostess is headquartered in Missouri. She knows that her East Coast friends will be thrilled to know that their beloved Dunkin Donuts has released a cereal line.Kathleen laughs out loud at a recent article where the Irish Supreme court has ruled that Subway sandwich bread doesn’t meet the legal definition of bread because the sugar content is too high. Kathleen reads a Dolly Parton quote involving the motivation for wealth. DOLLY PARTON: Kathleen is thrilled to share with listeners that Dolly Parton is releasing a Holiday album and Netflix Christmas movie in time for the 2020 holiday season. Kathleen is excited for the holiday season so that she can bring out her favorite glittery light-up Christmas deer.XFL FOOTBALL RETURNS: As Fall moves forward, Kathleen is thrilled that the XFL has announced that it will return Spring 2021. She has a St. Louis Battlehawks t-shirt to show her support for the team. Kathleen discloses that the coolest football experience that she has ever seen on tv was the 2017 Grey Cup when Shania Twain rode a dogsled out into the snow accompanied by Canadian Mounties for the halftime performance. LAKE vs OCEAN: Kathleen is a self-described “lake person” versus a person who prefers the ocean. She describes living in California and learning to surf, and a moment of terror when she saw a shark fin swimming near her board. Kathleen reviews the dangerous creatures that live in lakes compared to those living in oceans, and describes her dad’s short-lived frog-gigging hobby. She reads a recent article detailing the capture of a monster 14-foot, 800 lb alligator in an Arkansas lake, and the harrowing tale that two hillbillies went through to secure the gator and get it into their tiny boat. Kathleen loves a good hillbilly story, as well as gator stew. QANON: Kathleen delves into the dark world of QAnon, uncovering what this group believesand their intentions pertaining to the US political climate. She discovers that. QAnon communicates its dark conspiracy theories via online Imageboards, with the original hate site referred to as “4Chan,” and when that site was taken down the group created “8Chan.” Kathleen goes through some of the more popular conspiracy theories of the QAnon group, including pending coups by the Democratic party to take over the White House, conspiracy theories involving German chancellor Angela Merkel’s family tree, and theories that the profit of child sex-trafficking rings is being funneled to fund Democratic campaigns. Kathleen sifts through the information on how QAnon started and who is “Q,” as many people on the internet have claimed to be Q himself. Two Americans are said to be managing the messaging behind QAnon: James Watkins who gained control of 8Chan, and his son Ronnie Watkins who used to manage the imageboard. The elder Watkins is said to be living on a pig farm south of Manila, Philippines according to immigration records. Both Watkins men have denied being “Q.”THE VOW: As a follow up to Episode 8, Kathleen is watching “The Vow” docuseries on HBO Max. The nine-part series focuses on the Albany-based cult/multilevel-marketing scheme NXIVM, which underneath its self-help veneer, was primarily a sex-trafficking ring for its leaders. Kathleen presents listeners with information regarding the primary funding behind the cult, which came from billionaire Clare Bronfman, as well as more background information behind the cult’s leader, Keith Raniere. Bronfman and Raniere have been convicted on multiple charges including conspiracy and sex crimes, and are awaiting sentencing. She also tells listeners about some of the members of her Fantasy League, and the ridiculous strategies that they are coming up with as the team managers learn the basics of playing NFL Fantasy Football. MYSTERY OF THE WEEK: Kathleen discusses the mysteries surrounding Myrtles Plantation, which is a haunted plantation in St. Francisville, LA. Built in 1796, the plantation is touted as one of the nation’s most haunted homes with tens of recorded ghost encounters. The plantation now runs as a bed and breakfast in the same home where more than ten known murders took place.

We begin the episode with 3 Chromicoms who take the faces and identities of 3 police officers, by literally burning the faces off the bodies. They are Hunters and have been assigned to complete a new mission. The team is on board, plus Gemma and Enoch, the spaceship faced with the dilemma to awaken an LMD version of Culson. They are torn because they know this is not what Culson would have wanted however it is what the team and the world may need right now. Quake sees Culson and before the discussion can be concluded hits the button. Culson is woken and goes through a confusing state as he is attempting to process 2 years of information in 10 seconds. Mack shuts him off. They awaken him later and is brought up to date. After hearing the call in regards to the police officers who had their faces burned off, the team plans on finding the Chromicoms and stopping their plan to take over the world. Deke updates the team on the possible guidelines of time travel as they use Deke's humorous guise of being Canadian Mounties who are helping the police investigate the gruesome deaths. Once on the scene, Deke begins to scan the bodies for DNA and clues while Culson and Mack follow up on a clue on a bottle of whiskey with a swordfish which Culson presumes is in relation to a close speakeasy which is a hub used by the Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR) precursor to SHIELD. After an encounter Mack and Culson are reunited with a Koenig, this time Ernest Hazard Koenig who is owner of the speak easy. While Quake and Deke are attacked by the returning Chromicoms in their new identity. On this ship, Gemma offers Yo Yo a new pair of arms to easier fit in. Yo Yo is reluctant to accept them because she does not want to forget. Quake and Deke manage to bring back a Chromicom hostage. Gemma hooks up the Chromicom to a machine to generate continual junk data in a torture method in order to extract the nature of the Chromicom plan. Mack, Culson, Quake, and Deke attend the Governor FDR party as he is to begin his presidential run, thinking FDR is the Chromicom target. They are joined by Freddy on behalf of Koenig. As the team attempts to protect FDR from a possible Chromicom attack, on the ship Gemma is able to extract the name Freddy. Freddy is the the actual Chromicom target not FDR. Just because Penns River is an economic backwater doesn’t mean it’s immune from current events. An active shooter at a local discount department store leaves several people dead and the shooter in the wind. Maybe. It’s hard to say as the man arrested at the scene definitely shot someone but claims to be a Good Guy with a Gun. Meanwhile, a Canadian fugitive lands in town and pulls a job to tide him over while his cache of cash makes its way across the border. He and his partner—a local just dumb enough to serve a purpose—see an opportunity and begin a robbery spree while the police focus on clearing the mass shooting. The usual small-town hijinks still go on: There’s a robbery in the new strip club, an old woman wanders off, a domestic situation that starts as an argument over cookies turns violent, and the widower of a past victim needs attention. The Canadian Mountie who came to town hunting the fugitive may be helpful or more trouble than he’s worth. @copyrighted Listen to all podcast on your favorite app!

Welcome to Mysteries to Die For. I am TG Wolff and am here with Jack, my piano player and producer. This is a podcast where we combine storytelling with original music to put you at the heart of mystery, murder, and mayhem. Some episodes will be my own stories, others will be classics that helped shape the mystery genre we know today. These are arrangements, which means instead of word-for-word readings, you get a performance meant to be heard. Jack and I perform these live, front to back, no breaks, no fakes, no retakes (unless it's really bad). This is Season 1. The first half of the season comes from my book Widow’s Run, which was published in 2019 by Down & Out Books. If you love clever, sharp-edged mysteries and thrillers, check out Down & Out on the web. www.downandoutbooks.com Today’s episode builds from the previous episodes. Really, you have to listen in order for the story to make sense. Start with the first episode called “What a Lovely Corpse you Have” and catch up to us. We’ll be here for you. We’ve listed a cast of characters in the show notes to help keep track of the players. To recap, our hero, Diamond, has faked her death, burying the mainstream, suburban professional she was to resurrect her CIA cover. Why? She needs to do what the police won’t, investigate her husband’s death. In the last episode, Diamond had her sights set on Rome, the place of Gavriil’s death, but was sidetracked by an interloper who raided her refrigerator. With Andrew Dixon safely away from his abusive father, Diamond can finally, finally catch that plane to Italy. Today’s story is about a lion, 15-letter words, and a room key. This is Episode 5: Grieving Widow Seeks Husband-Seducing Biotch.  ******* Characters introduced so far Diamond, our hero. Recently widowed. Recently (fake) killed herself. On a mission. Gavriil Rubchinsky. Russian-born, nerd scientist specializing in quinoa. Diamond’s husband. Died May 14, 2018. The reason for Diamond. Ian Black. Average, ordinary, white man. Extraordinary purveyor of anything, anywhere, anytime. Sam Irish. British agent. Formerly worked with Diamond. Pissed she died without him. Andrew Dixon. Seventeen-year-old genius delinquent currently surfing Diamond’s couch Carlo Giancarlo. Diamond’s Italian translator and partner in crime. Dr. Quili Liu. Gavriil Rubchinsky’s successor, a Chinese-born, nerd-scientist who also loves quinoa. Enrique Torres. CIA agent who trained and worked with Diamond. Can’t believe a candle took her out. Alexei Rubchinsky. Russian-born, nerd scientist specializing in the body. Diamond’s brother-in-law. Montgomery Rand. Minor league con man. Reported genius who doesn’t have the brains to use what God gave him. ******* Mysteries to Die For is sponsored by Down & Out Books The featured new release this week is Pushing Water by Dana King. On this episode of the Sofa King Podcast, we explore some of the most reliable UFO cases in modern history. There are hundreds of sightings out there, so we wanted to focus on ones that had the most eye witnesses or had a lot of military backing. We settled on three cases that were pretty big and hard to dispute and were all confirmed by the US Military. They said this stuff happened, but they denied any alien involvement or explanation. First, we cover the strange case of Ludlow Air Force Base in 1975. This one involves multiple radar contacts, dozens of witnesses, unmarked helicopters, Canadian Mounties, and nuclear bombs! For two days a cigar shaped craft (or 2 different crafts) hovered over this airbase, and it was made known all the way back to the Pentagon. It’s from back in the day, but it is largely considered one of the most confirmed UFO sightings of all time. The next two were revealed to the world by the New York Times in 2017, when they uncovered a government project called AATIP (Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program). It was the modern day equivalent of Project Blue Book and ran from 2007 to 2012, and it captured footage of some pretty wild aerial encounters. They call them unidentified aerial phenomena because of the negative connotation of UFO, but they tracked several. One was a video called the Tic-Tac or “Go Fast” encounter. In it, a pilot tracks a strange cigar shaped craft using advanced radar systems. It was part of the a weird encounter with the USS Nimitz group that lasted for several days. They were tracking some sort of craft, and it culminated with a video (see links below). Another AATIP encounter was with US Airforce F18 jet, and it was called the Gimbal Video. It shows a strange top-like object that spins on its axis and was seen to double the max speed of any known aircraft. Most disturbingly, a pilot on the official cockpit video says there is a whole fleet of them down there! So, download this one, look to the skies, and enjoy these tales of UFOS.     Visit Our Sources: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/16/us/politics/pentagon-program-ufo-harry-reid.html https://www.history.com/news/ufo-sightings-credible-modern Tic Tac: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=105&v=wxVRg7LLaQA&feature=emb_logo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxVRg7LLaQA https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Aerospace_Threat_Identification_Program https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4qIHWLSOn8 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Nimitz_UFO_incident https://www.popularmechanics.com/military/a29073804/navy-ufo-videos-real/ https://www.livescience.com/65585-ufo-sightings-us-pilots.html https://www.chicagotribune.com/redeye/ct-redeye-xpm-2013-03-20-37880251-story.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_O%27Hare_International_Airport_UFO_sighting https://www.narcap.org/about-narcap https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loring_Air_Force_Base#UFO_sighting https://www.ufoinsight.com/the-loring-air-force-base-ufo-encounter-a-case-study/ Loring AFB Documents: http://www.all-hazards.com/loring/legends/assort1_ufo.pdf

All Selling Aside with Alex Mandossian |

In May of 1904, the young John E. Kennedy walked into the saloon at the Lord and Thomas Advertising Agency, the most powerful of its day. John sent a note upstairs via bellboy to Ambrose Thomas, a co-founder of the agency. The note read, “I am in the saloon downstairs. I can tell you what advertising is. I know you don’t know. It will mean much to me to have you know what it is, and it will mean much to you too. If you wish to know what advertising is, send the word “yes” down by the bellboy.”  Kennedy was a 20-year-old Canadian Mountie who was also a copywriter and looking for a job. In the room with Ambrose Thomas was Albert Lasker, the man who eventually took over the agency. Mr. Thomas was not impressed by Kennedy’s stunt, but Lasker found himself intrigued. He asked for permission to chat with Kennedy and Thomas gave in, so they bring the kid up and have a conversation. The discussion turned into a test in determining the true definition of advertising. Kennedy slowly drew Lasker in by asking questions in a Socratic method and then debunking each definition by stating that there was more. Finally, Lasker asked Kennedy what his definition of advertising was. Kennedy’s response? 5-words. Advertising is salesmanship in print. While this story discusses the sales and marketing techniques of the early 20th century, the concepts still apply. In today’s world, not only must you sell, but you must also market yourself to build credibility and believability and give your prospect the reason why they should work or buy with you. Learn how today’s three key insights help make you better at selling through appropriate marketing.   What Gary B’s 4-Step Persuasion Equation is and why it works. Why believability is the single toughest barrier to overcome in selling. How to win the heart with stories and engage the head with reason. No matter if you’re new to sales or a long-time professional, this episode provides amazing insights into the principles of ethical influence. After listening, don’t forget to write down your AHA! On this episode of The Sofa King Podcast, we realize that the truth is out there, and we explore the wild stories of Unidentified Submerged Objects, or USOs. USOs are the underwater equivalent of a UFO. They are unidentified to be sure, and they typically both fly and move underwater as well. USO tales range from sketchy speculation to pretty crazy accounts involving various militaries, police, and civilians simultaneously. From orbs of light and crafts out flying jet fighters to week long military hunts and giant sea people, the USO is where it’s at. So, what accounts exist? Here’s a quick run-down: 1982 Lake Baikal in USSR: This may be our favorite. It happens in the oldest lake on Earth, and it involves a fight between Soviet naval divers and nine foot tall humanoids who leave their USO and attack with sonar weapons that give the Russians the bends! USS Nimitz Encounter: The New York Times uncovered an account of a USO butting heads with the US Navy off the shore of San Diego in 2004. It involves an air craft carrier, a gun ship, six different fighter planes, and even comes with a video of the thing flying through the night sky with pilots tripping out on what it could be. (Go here for the video and the official Naval record: https://www.popularmechanics.com/military/a14456936/that-time-the-us-navy-had-a-close-encounter-with-a-ufo/) Point Dume Alien Base: A strange structure on the ocean floor a few miles away from Malibu makes people think it is an alien base propped up on pillars, large enough for submarines to glide through. Baltic Sea Anomaly: This is an alleged downed USO on the ocean floor in the Baltic sea. It was discovered by professional treasure hunters, and it looks eerily like the Millennium Falcon. Feel free to Google this one. Shag Harbor, Nova Scotia: This account is from 1967, and it involves a whole area of the country side, the Canadian Navy, Canadian Mounties, the coast guard, civilian crafts, divers, and a full blown search for a downed airplane that leads to a week-long show down with two USOs and the Canadian Navy. We cover these cases, a crazy one in Norway, and even a USO that messed with Christopher Columbus. If you think aliens are among us, just look to the waters and give this one a listen.

Recorded in a car travelling in Vancouver Canada - Roger Overall with Jane Boyd. This is "Not a commercial for Vancouver." Brand Canada is discussed. Brand Canada - Roger's perceptions of Canada before he arrived. Edmonton connection. Canadian Mounties, honorable, on a horse, integrity. Return to the Ultramarathoner Gary Robbins story - reinforced the idea of being Canadian. Don't forget the "natural beauty & wide open spaces" of Canada. Jane & Roger discuss Roger's perceptions of Canada - now that he's spend time in Canada: Looking forward to coming back. Extraordinary "Welcome home" said Bob, Jane's husband - this welcome seemed to be an expression of Brand Canada. The marathon story: Roger ran a race, came in last - even so, everyone waited for him to finish. Very kind, supportive people. Well tended, maintained city - a clean place. Vancouver appeals to many people - does not disappoint. Roger does his best to highlight things that are different from what he expected. Many similarities with USA. Big trucks. Peculiar blend of New England, original England, Holland & Texas. Differences in pronunciation of words. Didn't expect such a melange. Jane highlights: Asian population, off-shore investment, indigenous culture, very diverse country. Not all melting into one culture. Brand Canada falls down: everyone is aware of what happened to native Indians in USA People think First Nation peoples have been treated well in Canada Residential schools, children taken from their families, to "give them culture". [Jane was born on Vancouver Island] - she's ashamed of how indigenous peoples were treated. Amazing country, universal health care, different from USA and rest of world - but "we have a long way to go". Truth & reconciliation Commission in Canada. Jane's brand identifier is Generosity - an element of that must come from being Canadian. "We apologise a lot." Quick to own up - go forth to make it right - make amends Making mistakes in business: can you be more confident that your mistake will be accepted - or do you feel nervous about coming clean? Personal & business ethics - "sometimes it's hard to own up but it's the right thing to do." Makes the customer feel better. In Canada "we care about people. We take care of the vulnerable. We have poverty & homelessness. But we believe in taking care." Largest credit union in Canada is nearby - socially responsible businesses. Story: What a glove-making company did for Jane's dad. And he didn't retire until he was 78. "A lot of companies are doing right for their people." Halloween - a US thing. - "trick or treat" A poppy - worn for Remembrance Day You can find Jane Boyd at www.45Conversations.com Roger Overall at www.businessjazz.net & www.showandtellcommunications.net Roger says he'll be back in Vancouver in February 2018. -
