The best (and cheapest) therapy for those small things that get under your skin is sometimes a good venting session so you can get it off your chest and move on with your life! And if you're not privy to the first-hand vent-a-thon, then being a fly on the wall listening is hopefully equally therapeutic and also maybe entertaining. Welcome to Rant Therapy, a podcast short powered by the hosts of the Happy Eating podcast, Brierley Horton and Carolyn Williams, where we periodically share our real-life venting sessions with each other—AKA what we're “so over”. Welcome to The Ecommerce Braintrust podcast, brought to you by Julie Spear, Head of Retail Marketplace Services, and Jordan Ripley, Director of Retail Account Management. Today, we're thrilled to be joined by Scott Lester, Senior Manager of Digital & E-commerce at eos: the brand behind the beloved Evolution of Smooth products, from body lotions and lip balms to shaving creams. We first connected with Scott at eTail East, where he spoke on marketplace optimization and strategy. His insights really stood out, and we're excited to dive deeper into those ideas with him today. Tune in to find out more! KEY TAKEAWAYS In this episode, Julie, Jordan, and Scott discuss: Scott Lester's Nontraditional Career Path: Scott shares how he went from a Spanish literature degree and pharmaceutical sales to a thriving career in ecommerce, emphasizing the value of curiosity and adaptability. Translating Brand Ethos Across Channels: The eos team maintains consistency in their brand voice across digital marketplaces, retail media, and in-store experiences. Marketplace Growth Framework: Scott walks through eos's approach to marketplace growth by breaking it into four stages: market anticipation, leveraging reviews, discover & rank, and platform optimization. Nimbleness in Product Innovation: Insights on how eos uses social and market trends (such as their "Flavor Lab" launches inspired by viral secret menu hacks) to quickly develop and release new products, benefiting from the agility that comes with being a relatively small company. The Power of Customer Reviews: Discussion on how reviews are being repurposed into user-generated content and ad creative, and why customer sentiment is now essential, especially with the rise of AI such as Amazon's Rufus and Walmart's Sparky. Shifting Optimization Strategies: The evolution from keyword-stuffing to a more nuanced approach focused on consumer language, mobile relevance, and content that appeals both to customers and marketplace algorithms. Paid vs. Organic in Digital Shelf Strategy: Scott explains balancing organic and paid tactics, and why he no longer believes in strict “upper/mid/lower-funnel” strategies. Instead, eos seeks to create memorable, shareable moments across multiple touchpoints. The Rise of AMC and Measurement: How Amazon Marketing Cloud (AMC) has moved from “nice to have” to essential for tracking incremental impact and optimizing media spend effectively. AI: Both Exciting and Alarming: Scott offers candid thoughts on the double-edged sword of AI in ecommerce, from helping with data analysis to concerns over generative imagery and deepfakes.

¡Vuelven los asesinatos (y las risas) al Arconia con una nueva temporada de Only Murders in the Building! ¿Quién mató a Lester? ¿Qué ocurrió realmente en el Velvet Room la noche del crimen? ¿Y hasta dónde están dispuestos a llegar estos nuevos ricos para tapar sus secretos?
We're back in the Arconia with another whodunnit. Who killed Lester? We discuss the season 5 premiere episode as well as some very early predictions as to who may be guilty.

In this powerful episode of the Business of Aesthetics podcast, host Lester is joined by a panel of industry titans including Dr. Michael Salzhauer, Dr. Johnny Franco, Naren Arulrajah, and Chad Sawyer. Together, they deliver a masterclass on scaling the modern plastic surgery practice. This comprehensive discussion provides a roadmap for practitioners looking to grow efficiently, build an authentic brand, and navigate the competitive aesthetics landscape. The episode kicks off with Dr. Salzhauer's hard-hitting advice on establishing data-driven systems from day one, emphasizing the need to track practice "vital signs" like leads and conversions while building a brand that is unapologetically authentic. Dr. Franco then shares his firsthand journey of explosive growth, offering practical lessons on creating scalable operating procedures and expanding a brand's identity beyond a single surgeon. Throughout the conversation, marketing expert Naren Arulrajah provides critical insights, breaking down the ROI of different channels and explaining why mastering fundamentals like SEO is crucial for sustainable growth. Finally, Chad Sawyer demystifies the integration of weight and wellness programs, exploring how technology like asynchronous consultations and strategic pharmacy partnerships can create new, scalable revenue streams. This is an essential listen for any surgeon or practice owner aiming to build a resilient, profitable, and future-proof business.

In this week's episode of Typology, I sit down with Dr. Terence Lester—an Enneagram Eight, author of From Dropout to Doctorate, and the visionary founder of Love Beyond Walls. Terence's story is as powerful as it is inspiring. From his early years in Atlanta to leading a movement that uplifts those experiencing poverty and homelessness, his journey embodies both courage and compassion. Together, we explore what it means to be an Enneagram Eight in the trenches of community work—wrestling with control, burnout, and the temptation to over-function. Terence opens up about a devastating car accident that reshaped his sense of identity, his relationship with productivity, and ultimately, his capacity for gratitude. We also dive into the intersection of action and contemplation, the influence of Henri Nouwen on Terence's life, and the healing power of reconciliation in his own family story. Along the way, Terence reminds us that leadership isn't about posturing but about vulnerability, presence, and the willingness to walk alongside others in their pain. This conversation is an invitation to rethink how we serve, how we love, and how we grow. You'll walk away with profound insights about resilience, healing, and the transformative power of the Enneagram. It's back to school, and while school shootings are a given, actual education is not. It's September 2025 and the Department of Education is being systematically dismantled while the policy impacts of the Trump administration are only set to make things worse. From food insecurity for children who get fed at school, to school closures, to policy decisions that tell us what we can and cannot teach. Nothing is as it should be. As today's guest, Dr. Lester is the author of the upcoming book From Dropout to Doctorate: Breaking the Chains of Educational Injustice. Dr. Lester writes: education inequality isn't theoretical, it's real. Behind every data point about dropout rates, underfunded schools, or academic failures there real people with potential who were left behind. Why are we abandoning the very people we'll need in the future to make our world a safer and smarter place? Send us a textOn our season finale to our 4th blockbuster year in the podcast space, we're going to answer the burning question on everyone's mind these days: What's the deal with Richard Lester? In order to find the answer, we're digging into the notable works from his four decades in show business, starting with 1964's A Hard Day's Night starring John Lennon Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr aka the Beatles along with Wilfred Brambell, Norman Rossington, John Junkin and Victor Spinetti then onto 1973 &74's The Three & Four Musketeers starring Oliver Reed, Michael York, Richard Chamberlain, Frank Finlay, Raquel Welch, Faye Dunaway, Christopher Lee & Charleton Heston and topped off with 1983's Superman III starring Christopher Reeve, Richard Pryor, Jackie Cooper, Marc McClure, Annette O'Toole, Robert Vaugh, Annie Ross, Pamela Stevenson and Margot Kidder. My guests this week are the ever-reliable Roseanne Caputi and fresh from the sweltering fields of the Sacramento Valley, camera in hand and twice the photobug that Jimmy Olsen ever could be, Gordon Alex Robertson. Before we bumble and stumble and pratfall our way into the madcap, muddled mind of Mr. Lester, the synopses: A Hard Day's Night follows the Fab Four during a 24-hour period as they attempt to escape the responsibilities and madness of fame, their managers --who need them to just stay put for a television appearance-- and the misdeeds of Paul's ornery grandfather who keeps throwing a monkey wrench in everyone's plans. The Three & Four Musketeers adapts the classic Alexandre Dumas swashbuckler, following the adventures and exploits of D'artagnan a young swordsman who travels from Gascony to Paris to join the King's Royal Musketeers as his father did before him. D'artagnan soon joins forces with three of the most colorful and dynamic musketeers, the friends Athos, Porthos and Aramis when the scheming Cardinal Richelieu's Elite Guards attempt to arrest them all for dueling. From there it's non-stop intrigue, war and tragedy as D'artagnan and his three cohorts try to rescue Queen Anne and her dress maker, the lovely Lady Constance, from the dastardly machinations of Count Rochefort and Milady di Winter, two of the Cardinal's most dangerous and effective spies. Superman III features The Man of Steel pitted against Ross Webster, a ruthless business tycoon, who enlists a bumbling computer programmer Gus Gorman to try and control the global coffee and oil markets. Thwarted by Superman at every turn, Ross and Gus build a living supercomputer to stop him for once and for all. But did Gus go too far?Did Richard Lester go to far? Is he an unsung genius, a Hollywood hack or stuck somewhere in the messy middle? Find out!Watch the video podcast on Youtube:https://youtu.be/oQWBL_l0I_c

School is back in session, and this week we're flunking out of reality with a double feature of academic anarchy: Classof 1984 (1982) and Class of 1999 (1990). Two movies, two decades apart, same message: high school is the worst.First up is Mark L. Lester's Class of 1984, starring Perry King, Timothy Van Patten, and a very young Michael J. Fox. It's a gritty tale of punks, classroom chaos, and teachers who have officially had enough. We're talking gang violence, courtroom drama, and a soundtrack by Alice Cooper that absolutely shreds. Then we crank the absurdity dial with Class of 1999, also directed by Lester, where robot teachers go full Terminator on the student body. Featuring Pam Grier, Stacy Keach rocking a mullet-rat-tail-combo, and Malcolm McDowell as the world's most exhausted principal. Basically, it's RoboCop meets after-school detention. The guy's debate whether a punk army with switchblades is scarier than Pam Grier's robot arm, if Michael J. Fox was already plotting Back to the Future during filming, and how Stacy Keach somehow looks both 40 and 400 years old at the same time.
