In this episode, former MLB slugger and World Series champion Mike Napoli shares some of the most unforgettable stories from his career on and off the field. From his roots in South Florida to catching Manny Ramirez bombs in high school, Napoli reflects on the journey that took him through iconic clubhouses and unforgettable teams. He talks about the impact of veterans like Daryl Strawberry and Eric Davis, learning leadership from Terry Francona, and what made the 2013 Red Sox and 2016 Cleveland teams so special. Napoli gives a behind-the-scenes look at what made Tito such a great manager, the dynamic between Big Papi and Pedroia, and why he took pride in mentoring younger teammates. As a true "glue guy," he explains the importance of building trust, having hard conversations, and the value of fundamental baseball. The conversation dives into how analytics are used in today's game and even how they've been turned against players in contract negotiations. Napoli also opens up about his transition to coaching with the Reds, how hard it was leaving playing behind, and his dream to become an MLB manager. Plus, there are wild stories about clubhouse culture, fan fest gambling wins, fundraisers gone off the rails, and that iconic photo of Nap with a cigarette.----------------HostsEric Hosmer / @hosmer305Peter Moylan / @petermoylanJustin Su'a / @justinsuaInteract with the Diggin' Deep Crew on:Instagram / Facebook / Twitter / TikTokAdvertising & Partnership inquiries: diggindeep@moonballmedia.coma MoonBall Media Podcast

The Red Sox are in a tough spot. Cora specifically, is also in a bad spot. He used to be the front man, meant to take the blame, but he has been managing pretty well as of late. There have been a lot of changes, and he has held the clubhouse together. Pedro vs Big Papi fight over Devers Pedro said there was no way Devers was a bad teammate, whereas Big Papi says the opposite. Fitzy changes the subject to large MLB contracts and says they are ruining the league. Lock out coming soon. Pedro thinks the Sox did not handle the situation well. Front office people should not be involved in this, and neither should the media. Ortiz was not as nice. Breslow has no PR skills. Fitzy addresses his face scrapes. There are too many variables in the Red Sox front office.

This week on 7th Inning Stretch, the crew dives into some of the biggest storylines shaking up the league!⚾ Minnesota Magic – Are the Twins the real deal? We break down what's fueling their impressive run and whether they can keep the momentum alive.
We have published 120 episodes since 2019. For this new season, we thought we would look back on some of the highlights of our conversations and choose 20 episodes that resonated with veterans, service members, military families, and the civilians who support them. But first up, you'll hear from some of the folks at Home Base who wake up every day with the same mission in mind, no matter what they do at the Center of Excellence in the Navy Yard and beyond.Over the next twenty weeks, we will share these staff conversations I had with some of the hard-working professionals at Home Base who help treat the invisible wounds of veterans and military families. For this episode, you will hear a brief conversation with Home Base Marine Veteran Alexander Hohl, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, followed by one of the earlier episodes, in which Ron sat with the US Army Colonel and Combat Surgeon Dr. David King and Red Sox legend David "Big Papi" Ortiz. Boston just celebrated the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, and we felt it a good time to re-share the episode that remembers the Boston Marathon bombing and the inspiration Big Papi brought to the city during that time. Many thanks to Alexander Hohl for all his work at Home Base to support this mission to stomp stigma and treat the invisible wounds of veterans and military families.Run To Home Base: Join Ron and his team and sign up individually or on another team at the 16th annual Run To Home Base on July 26th, 2025, at Fenway Park! Send us a textFounded in 1901, the AL contains teams like #Yankees and #RedSox who have an epic list in their top 5 for players hitting home runs while a member of the franchise. Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, Mickey Mantle, David "Big Papi' Ortiz, Jim Rice, Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra are all in their teams top 5. All are HOFer.. Aaron Judge is outside the Yankee top five but he's closing fast. Then there's the #orioles. Another original #AmericanLeague team, they started as the Milwaukee Brewers for one year before moving to St. Louis and becoming the Browns. HOFers Eddie Murray, Cal Ripken Jr. and Frank Robinson are in the top 5. But Besides being mostly terrible, the Browns had few home run threats. The #bluejays and #Rays are more recent additions but only Fred McGriff is in the top five of either team and is a HOFer. Carlos Delgado rules the roost for Toronto. Edwin Encarnacion has 424 career homers not 434 #guardians #tigers #whitesox #twins #royals have familiar names in their top two but once you go deeper it gets more difficult. #athletics #angels #rangers #astros #mariners have a few HOFers on their list.Link to an article by Mark - https://almostcooperstown.substack.com/p/career-home-run-leaders-for-each-be7?r=6m2o9Intro & Outro music this season courtesy of Mercury Maid!
