Back in the day, Alicia Velez was a monster center, considered the Shaquille O'Neil of the 5th grade CYO girls basketball team. Soon thereafter, her growth spurt ended and she pivoted to more of a Ray Allen style, hanging out at the 3-point line draining buckets. Despite being vertically challenged, she has competed in organized sports throughout her life including lacrosse, AAU basketball and college rugby, where she earned the nickname "Speedy" for her elusive and crafty footwork. Despite suffering multiple injuries throughout her athletic career, Alicia continues to challenge herself physically by eating mountains for breakfast in her new home of Boulder, Colorado. She believes in the healing power of movement at any age and that our bodies are strong and resilient. Alicia has her own private therapy practice, where she serves athletes in Colorado and New York. As a psychotherapist, she is dedicated to helping instill hope and inspiration to fellow injured athletes recovering mentally from the devastating blow of injury. In addition to exercise, she enjoys live music, travel, and giving her dog belly rubs. Go Knicks! Go Mets! Go Liberty! Dan Navarro Live on Game Changers With Vicki Abelson They say you can never go home- they didn't have their old pal Dan Navarro on their show––took me right back to shared memories with Chloris Leachman in the living room, the Mets winning a 2015 playoff game at Dodger Stadium (unlike today), seeing Lori Lieberman at The Grammy Museum, Mike Finnegan at The Levitt Pavilion, NAMM hangs, my book launch, a 12 Step meeting, good food, a few of these here shows before and during the pandemic… It's always warm and comfy as if no time has passed. We touched on Dan's early days, his creative parents, his famous cousin, Dave, a horrific family tragedy, starting out on horns, finding his voice, literally, writing songs, being a singing waiter at The Great American Food & Beverage Company, with a host of others who found success, including Eric Lowen, who would become his partner, and begin their relationship co-writing the iconic, We Belong, and selling it to Pat Benetar, before it came to have a life of its own, putting out 12 albums, touring for decades, also writing for the Bangles and others, before Lowen's untimely death. Dan, through it all, also voiced TV shows, including The Family Guy and American Dad, still to this day, as well as over 100 commercials, sang in the films Happy Feet, two Ice Age pictures, Rio, The Lorax, to name just some. The secret to his success? Go for it. Persistence. The only answer is “Yes.” It's worked pretty well for him. Dan told innumerable stories to exemplify his point. A man of service, Dan has served as SAG-AFTRA's National Vice President of Recording Artists/Singers, and is still on the board, he is a Trustee of the AFM & SAG-AFTRA Intellectual Property Rights Distribution Fund, is a member of the Mechanical Licensing Collective's Unclaimed Royalties Oversight Committee, and is on the board of the Artists rights alliance, and recently spoke before the House Judiciary Committee on AI, where, in solution, he has been quoted requesting, the 3 Cs: Consent, Credit, Compensation. Dan treated us to a passionate We Belong, and a gorgeous Rose In the WIndow, his collaboration with the late Preston Sturges from his latest album, Horizon Line. This time with Dan was heartwarming and soul-filling and will stay with me for a long time to come. Being in Dan's good company is always inspiring, always fun, even if we are in the midst of our Mets/Dodgers rivalry. Go Mets! Today's riveting true story of the time Hans Christian Andersen spent a few weeks at the house of Charles Dickens and did some despicable things. Oh it's true. Hour 1. Keith explains why he is going to be rooting for the Mets as a Yankee fan for their next two series. Hour 1.
Evan and Tiki will be at the Cadillac Club at Citi Field for tonight's subway series. NBA free agency is right around the corner and there's a name attached to the Knicks that seems to be getting more real by the day. That's Paul George. He played over 70 games last season. He is 34 years old, and is the type of guy we didn't want, an overpriced washed up star. But the Knicks seem interested. Gio and Jerry both think it's a bad idea. We also talked about NBA salaries compared to NBA's TV audience. C-Lo returns for an update and starts with Sal Licata making up with Grimace on SNY. C-Lo has audio from the Florida Panthers broadcasters going nuts after they won the Stanley Cup. We played an old clip of Howie Rose having a hard time saying ‘Chris McMonigle'. In the final segment of the hour, we played a clip of Gio's first experience working the radio board for a Mets game and he hit the ‘Let's Go Mets' jingle during Howie's play by play.
Hour 1 Boomer is out so it's Gio & Jerry today. We have a subway series tonight at Citi Field. The pitching matchups seem to really favor the Yankees with Gerrit Cole and Luis Gil. Cole is only going to throw around 75 pitches. We also talked about the Mets and Pete Alonso and how much other teams may offer him. C-Lo is in for his first update and starts with MLB handing down their 10 game suspension for Edwin Diaz. Starling Marte will miss time with bone inflammation. Didn't even know that was possible. Sal Licata made up with a thin Grimace on SNY last night. The Florida Panthers won the Stanley Cup. JJ Reddick met the media as he was introduced as the new Lakers coach. In the final segment of the hour, Gio is still not sure how he feels about Bill Belichick dating a 24 year old. He goes back and forth on it. Mark Schlereth called Belichick a ‘pig'. Hour 2 Evan and Tiki will be at the Cadillac Club at Citi Field for tonight's subway series. In the final segment of the hour, we played a clip of Gio's first experience working the radio board for a Mets game and he hit the ‘Let's Go Mets' jingle during Howie's play by play. Hour 3 The subway series gets underway tonight and the Mets will be without Edwin Diaz as he will be starting his 10-game suspension for sticky stuff. We expect a split, which is exactly what the Mets are. We talked about some of the more memorable subway series moments. C-Lo returns for an update and starts with audio from Evan and Tiki talking about ‘meritocracy' being about ‘merit' and not ‘America'. Howie Rose was on with Evan and Tiki and was asked to pick his favorite Mets call. Stephen A. Smith talked about going to Stanley Cup game 7 even though he knows nothing about hockey. In the final segment of the hour, Gio's kids are getting to the age where now he has a lot of things to attend that they are involved in, such as dance. Hour 4 The Florida Panthers won the Stanley Cup, but Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers won the Conn Smythe Trophy. We also talked more about the subway series that gets underway tonight in Queens. We also talked about the Yankees losing to the Red Sox when they were up 3-0. C-Lo returns for an update but first we talked about our early salaries at WFAN. C-Lo has audio of the Florida Panthers winning the Stanley Cup. The Moment of The Day involves Chris Russo having a hard time saying John Tortorella and Howie Rose having a hard time saying ‘Chris McMonigle'. In the final segment of the show, we took some balls about having to go to dance recitals as fathers.

Welcome to Today Your Love, Tomorrow the World Series, the new/old favorite from Chris McShane and Brian Salvatore.
